  1. Huh? what is "many" ? If they're not 100% correct - what percentage correct are they? Any sources for Starforce being malware besides a site called BoingBoing or http://www.glop.org? Maybe this is better reading?? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/1851065692/m/8121095173 or maybe: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=11236&page=3 Edit: added new link: http://www.firingsquad.com/features/starforce_interview/default.asp
  2. From the LockOn Encylopedia: Max number of target tracks: 100 Max number of target that can be tracked automatically: 9 Radar detection range: 3-170 km Search sector: (azimuth) 120° (elevation) 90° Tracking sector: 110° Raven68; What you mention is one SAM tactic that is used. More often you'd probably have EWRs (early warning radars) cooperating with SAM sites. There are also other SAM tactics that Lock On doesnt model. No, the Misson Editor and SAM AI models do not support advanced SAM tactics.
  3. Once you've placed a SAM site on the map its possible to "drag" the individual vehicles/radars into different locations on the map. You'll have to zoom in on the SAM site and it helps to use the Satellite Map mode to see more detail of the site's location. (If you move the FIRST item in a group the whole group will shift around on the map). Also after you've setup the basic SAM site you can add extra vehicles/radars/launchers, etc, to that grouping. For example you can add another Patriot radar to increase that SAM site's coverage or add in some short range SAMs to help protect the SAM site.
  4. ruggbutt; One thing you can test: Set LO graphics option to one size less than screen display & full screen off. (example: Monitor 1280x1024 - LO 1024x768) LO should run in a window and you can test Alt+Tabbing to other windows.
  5. ruggbutt; I agree with Prophet; seems odd to me too not being able to switch between programs when game NOT in full screen. Full Screen on or off makes no difference to my systems - Alt+Tab is always available. I have no problems on any of my 3 PCs at home or the couple I use in the office. With LockOn running and with Full Screen OFF Alt+Tab is faster (MUCH faster) to background programs/windows and Alt+Tabbing back into the game is equally fast & never a delay. My experiance is that Alt+Tab in the game with Full Screen ON to background programs/windows from the game is much slower. Also when I switch back to the game it takes 1-2 seconds and sometimes a screen re-draw before the game is ready. rasputin; I remember you talking about a DVI cable and was wondering if you were already using an all digital video output (DVI) or the digital/analog/digital video that VGA uses. It doesnt seem everyone is getting the same results which maybe do to equipment, driver or other running programs on different systems.
  6. Like Prophet_169th I find it easier/faster to Alt-Tab between the game & background programs (TS/TrackIR/Shoot, etc) and have what I think is a small FPS increase on one of my systems (no, or not noticeable increase on an older system). I've always had more stable game play without the Full Screen option. rasputin; do you have an analog (VGA) or digital (DVI) connection to your Samsung 940B?
  7. More Desktop Calendars available at http://www.CombatAce.com
  8. You can avoid learning the mission editor when getting started. Use the A-10 Quick Fly mission and just fly away from the threats. Or better yet - go into Options-> Difficulty and use the NOVICE button to make your aircraft Immortal, and give you unlimited fuel and weapons, etc. That way the threats don't matter. You will still start airborne but you can find a nearby airfield to land on and than take off again. Repeart for as long as you want. Look in the Lock On/Doc folder (where the manual is located) for the KeyCommands.doc file. You can print that out for the complete list of commands. Then use the S key to Pause the game while you look over the Keys Commands list.
  9. junae; It happens automatically. No one has mentioned CCRP bombing mode yet. Place the pipper on the target then press and HOLD the weapon release button. Use the steering cue ring in the HUD to manuver to the bomb release point. Keep the "tail" of the HUD acft in the center of the ring. You'll have a Time-to-Release counter on the left side of the HUD. It will count down 10 seconds (3 seconds with tone) and bombs will drop automatically. Then you can release the weapon trigger.
  10. The download isn't working for me at the moment. It kicks me to an empty page @ URL: http://brazd.qaz.ru/deny.phtml
  11. Good stuff WpnSSgt - thanks for the data! I've always wondered why the FAC loadouts don't include the Lightning Pod. Seems an ideal targeting aid for guiding in other CAS birds. Any insight into why the FACs don't carry Lightning Pods?
  12. No - your Simware purchase will already have the new Seasons textures included.
  13. Would that mean no Player could enter your game after you Start the mission? I can't say Im in favor of THAT unless a late arriving player could bump one of the AIs and get the aircraft of his choice.
  14. *falls over laughing even harder*
  15. Software/game developers build Alphas first, then Betas and finally a Gold (shipping) versions.
  16. What JS controller do you use? Using an axis for your rudder commands? Try setting a small deadzone to keep your JS from constantly sending rudder inputs.
  17. LOMAC released in the US back on 21st or 22nd November 2003. Two years later and still going strong and getting better. Anyone want to wonder how much computer hardware LOMAC has sold in the last 2-2½ years? Thanks to the Guys @ Eagle Dynamics for hanging in there and making LockOn a lot better than it was 2 years ago.
  18. Nothing major, but yes there are key changes. Check the KeyCommands list in the DOC folder and you'll see the list of Changes in the Left column Engine start is maybe the biggest change. After that its Shift+L to turn electrical systems on for Su-25/25T only. You might try changer your Keyboard's repeat rate using START -> Control Panel -> Keyboard and reduce the Repeat Delay/Repeat Rate to Shorter/Faster setting.
  19. Hint: Lower fuel states help speed things up. And so will getting the Alt/Distance/Heading right for final approach.
  20. I don't believe ED has the same world view of combat sims that you do Yellonet. I'm sure they believe that ED's future needs BOTH east and west aircraft models with advanced features. But without the financial support of a major publishing house ED is taking incremental development steps to fund the work necessary to get a LO follow-on to market.
  21. I know its a bit of a hassle but just a little work with the mission editor and you can have an AI KA-27 chopper and a couple AI SU-33s on the deck. Just program them in at the very beginning of the mission. Its worth the effort, especially if you're taking screenshots.
  22. Perhaps the ONLY alternative is that NOTHING new will come out of ED, no Black Shark 1.2, no follow-on to LockOn. (OK, maybe a NEW alternative will pop-up if the ED team finds a fan or "sugar daddy" with really deep pockets.) Maybe then the upgrade path doesnt really seem all that bad after all - considering the alternative. I prefer to hope that ver 1.2 is an early preview of the follow on to Lock On: Modern Air Combat.
  23. You're right. I didn't notice the missing .lma file till I read your note. But I had noticed that your websites download page said you were using LoMan to package your tracks.
