Sierra Hotel! Excellent work! Awesome Training Track. :icon_jook I did have a small glitch installing the track using LoMan ver 4. It did install but with an error message and it installed in an unusual location. I'm guessing its an issue between LoMan 2.1 and LoMan 4. Anyone else have this problem? So I do go ahead and use LoMan4 to repackage the track. Anyone that wants a LoMan4 version of Ironhand's excellent track can get it here. http://uploadhut.com/view.php/411729.zip

Is it even possible to...
WhiskeyRomeo replied to aimmaverick's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Don't you mean 2 years? And if you want to benchmark a specific scenario (SU-25T x 4) shouldnt you provide the mission so everyone is testing the same parameters? -
Maybe a border marking between Sea of Azov and Black Sea would remind people that Ukraine is on the Left and Russia is on the Right? It's possible the border marking between Russia and Georgia might add something to the game but Im having a hard time imagining what it would be.

For those who trim pitch on X-45 thumb rotary
WhiskeyRomeo replied to Tallyho1961's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I find that Im able to get neutral trim setting just by touch on my X-45 (at the detent). I have a small deadzone set on trim to ensure there is no "command" being sent while in the neutral detent. Also since I prefer being able to finely control the pitch and never need full pitch trim authority I've made a large shift setting and flattened the curve. I also use the INVERT selection as my preference. Makes level flying, weapons employment and landing approaches very easy even in the Mig-29. -
Are you sure about adding the previous patches? 1.11 should have the previous patches already incorporated.

Starforce checks more then once
WhiskeyRomeo replied to Raploc's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Where's your proof that StarForce is Malware/Trojan/Virus?? Your lengthy "research" should have concrete results that you can show us and convice us you are right, should it not? Show us your research results or stop doing a "Chicken Little". See my reply to your previous comments about SF being Malware/Trojan/Virus. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=11236&page=3 -
Tunguskas shooting down Mavericks?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to S77th-GOYA's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Interesting. I wasn't aware of its fusing system. I had an OSA kill 4 Mavs in 4 launches I made. Only got the kill since it emptied all its onboard missiles. Still...its made the A/G game more challenging. It's almost safer to be flying in the A-10s now since the SAMs seem heavily weighted toward engaging MAVs (which makes sense) than engaging my A-10. Will have to fly some more before I decide if its a good thing or not. -
What are your sources about StarForce being Virus or Malware? I'm surprised you didnt mention SF being a TROJAN program since thats what a lot of users were claiming in previous discussion on SF. I spent 20 minutes visiting some well known AV & Security websites and didnt find anything that talked about StarForce being a Virus or Malware. One site did list StarForce (earlier version) as having a possible Security vulnerability under some circumstances - but not as a Virus or Malware. You'd think at least one of these major security firms would agree with you. Especially since we pay them to help protect us from Virus, Trojan and Malware. I have StarForce in both the CD and Web Download versions of FC. I personally havent had ANY issues and no limitations on my ability to do CD or DVD burns. It's possible to say ANYTHING on Internet websites. You can drive yourself crazy with "facts" or "prove" any type of conspiracy with Internet sources.

Tunguskas shooting down Mavericks?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to S77th-GOYA's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
With everything @ default settings Tunguskas were having very good success vs AGM-65s in game I flew tonight.. OSA SAMs also did well killing inbound MAVs. Watched Tunguska engage a MAV with both missile AND gun several time. At one point a moving convoy with Tunguska and a static Strela cooperated to engage a Maverick. At first it was just the Tunguska launching. After the Tunguska moved close enough to the Strela (for data link maybe?) it also started launching at MAVs. AGM-65s killed by SAMs arent reported in the MP kill messages. And in the Debried screen you can see the SAMs launch... but no reports of hits or kills on the MAVs. -
I like choosing the F3 view and then ejecting.

Yes there is. Edit the graphics.cfg file in the Lock On\Config folder. Look for the DisplayMode section. In the Simulation section change the values to {800, 600} and save the file.

Lock On Gold actually includes 1.1?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I agree with Wolvie! I know I was one (of probably several(dozen)) that took a few minutes to mention to EBGames that what they were posting seemed to be wrong - and why. If ED is getting a fair share to compensate them for the developmental efforts thats something good for us all. -
Lock On Gold actually includes 1.1?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nothing I'm reading would have made me NOT get 1.1 as soon as it was available - what ever the means. Maybe I did pay a shekel or two more than waiting -ummmmm--- 4 months?? But it was worth it and I know it ALL went to support Lock On! -

Lock On Gold actually includes 1.1?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
From the screenshots posted in the Community Help thread SuperKungFu mentions it's pretty clear that Lock On Gold DOES include Flaming Cliffs vers 1.1. These are the screenshots posted by Coug68 today: Splash Screen Strannik; I'm guessing that UbiSoft had Evolved Games package and distribute this Lock On Gold. I'm sure we're all hoping that ED is going to at least some financial support from sales of Lock On Gold. Im sure we'll be hearing more about this..... -
Excellent Track! Thanks for sharing.

The forum search engine didnt turn up any other 1450 error reports (except maybe a couple in the Russian language forums). It looks like it might be a good idea to actually contact the vendor (Starforce). The FAQs suggest this: 6. - - - Please also send a report about your problem to the StarForce Customer Support service support@star-force.com. Attach the system information text file that was generated by the StarForce activation system (see item #4.3.3). Copy this letter to Eagle Dynamics tech support at: support@lockon.ru You can find that FAQ here: http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=762&scr=default&lang=en If you do get an answer post here so the next person with that problem can search up an answer.

I thought I'd be able to dig out an A-10 HUD camera video I saw a while back that showed the pilot cycling between several laser designated targets (by changing the laser codes). It clearly showed the tgt diamond moving between the different targets (as in LockOn). The live fire exercise mission was for an F-16 to drop several LGBs on the same pass and hit multiple targets (each with a seperate laser designator and laser code) and for the A-10s to follow on and mop up the area. There was also a HUD video for the F-16 which was very interesting. So far I havent been able to dig them out. Seems a lot of the websites I used to cruise have dropped into the never-never land of .Mil only domains. I'll ask around and see if I can't locate them.

I don't think the LockOn era armor have the Active Protection Features available now to the best modern main battle tanks. The best they had were Laser warning recievers and passive countermeasures (like smoke). They still had to search and locate the laser teams visually and even then might not be able to reach out to get them. Some of the best current MBTs have some active Laser countermeasures and better passive abilities too. I've read about systems that use a tank mounted laser to engage the LDT equipment optics (including collateral damage to operator eyeballs). Even the best current active countermeasures have "counter-countermeasures" that keep the effectivness of LGWs high. A "10 second call" to shift the laser onto the target is still effective even today. Tank crews have even been known to bail out as soon as they get a laser targeting warning so the offset and shift procedures are used a lot. Rumors are that some SOF types used a laser to get a tank crew to bail out even without having any aircraft or LGWs on hand. As mentioned above its not neccessary to "paint" the target to help an aircrew locate a camouflaged target and attack with CBUs or Mk82s, etc. These are "real world" tactics and procedures and are used all the time. Special Operations forces & Rangers are especially adept at getting behind the line to designate important targets for air interdiction missions. TACP (USAF air support) and FIST (USA direct and indirect fires) are the sharp point of the laser spear. For A-10s the target diamond is realistic (within the limits of the game). I'm not sure about the target diamond for other flyables in the game but I think most forces probably have some similiar capabilites. OK, there are laser range and angle issues in the game that aren't modeled 100% correctly. But thats also the case with so many aspects of real operations vs this game. Its just too hard to model all the actual tactics & procedures and so compromises have to be made. In my option ED came up with a reasonable compromise (as far as the A-10 goes) to give us an option to enhance game play. And it is an option - use it if you want. It's not large a stretch of reality as are so many other aspects of the game. If your "sense of doctrinal purity" requires it throw in a Bradley APC to act as a FIST for CAS, a Hummer to act as a TACP, or orbit a chopper to use as laser source. Write a mission scenario that has SOF or Rangers behind the line for your interdiction missions. Do what ever you need to make your missions fun or interesting to the players.

Yes it's possible. You can search this forum for info on how to do it or you can checkout these posts: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/4991050703/ If you're thinking about a 2nd copy of FC the download version would save you some money. Since you already have the CD version it's a pretty safe bet and you won't need the game CD to fly.

As long as you have someone painting a target with a laser the PavePenny seeker doesnt care if its moving or not and will throw the diamond steering cue up on the HUD. Even if the A-10 has no LGBs on board its still possible to get target diamond cues to help the pilot spot & attack the target. The "realism" issue requires a "leap of faith" that you have someone (TACP, FIST, etc) out there with a laser "spotting" for the A-10s. The A-10 pilots may need initial guidance to get into position where the PavePenny seeker can pick up the laser reflected energy.
