So does the FC3 and just like the FF ones, those can get damaged also. Difference in FC3 is that you dont have full control but rather system control.
-
Well yes and no. I mean, starting engines in FC3 is a key combo which subtitutes RL procedure to get the engines running. So if you do the same using autostart, what is the difference? Also what's the diff. between FF and FC3 in: radar, ECM, flares, damage model, flight envelope? FC3 also models systems, it just that most of the systems are accessible only through common key strokes.
-
I never understood what was the point of auto-start. It basically makes a fully clickable aircaraft into a FC3 one.

I would first start with adjusting the burn-through range to be a percentage of radar's max range for locking up targets. This would actually give purpose to jamming we currently have in DCS and also give advantage to more powerful radars. What's the point of jammig if the burn happens above missiles max range?

Look at that thing go. What's the speed of the 120? It's flopping around like it's made of cardboard and has zero inertia.

HI @uboats, shall I create a new thread for this one in the bugs section? -
R-27T/ET Tactics - How to use correctly?
Pavlin_33 replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
In my humble opinion 27ET is much better. 27T on the other hand I see no practical reason to carry, except if you want to have two extra IR missiles. -
As the title says, R-27T just goes straight, after launch, even though it's within parameters and the target is not maneuvering nor flaring. In the attachment provided are both the track file (tried to reproduce it as close as possible to TacView) and the TacView file - look for Pavlin|33 callsign. 27T-goes-dumb.trk r-27t-dud.zip.acmi

R-27T/ET Tactics - How to use correctly?
Pavlin_33 replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
The "T" missiles were developed for heavy ECM environment, but we don't have this benefit in DCS. Regular "T" variant, is practically useless in some engagments, against F-16 or A-10, as it has same effective range as the R-73. -
Longest 120 kill I could find was made at 36nm by "Rico" in the Eagle against a non-maneuvering Fulcrum, first day of '99 campaign. First AMRAAM definitely missed as was confirmed by both, now late, 29 driver that was defending it and the Russian troops on the ground that were monitoring the engagement. Only person that got credited the kills was the Eagle flight lead who fired 2 120s in TWS. 1st one was fired by number 2 in STT, I believe. Most interesting thing for me was that the 15s could not resolve 2 contacts at some 25nm flying at 6000 feet in a look-down. F-15s were in the mid 20's.
-
Truth be told, those two 120 hits were made fairly close. I can't remember the exact distances though. Also while the MiGs were on the deck, Eagles' radars picked up only one target only to realise there were 2 once they climbed out of the ground clutter and/or got closer. P.S. First 120 missed its target

Well if that is the case, it's an obvious bug. I can't verify it my self at the moment, but I will once I get access to DCS.

MiG-29's BFM characteristics / doubts
Pavlin_33 replied to Top Jockey's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I don't think I have the TacView of it, so I guess at the moment it remains just a claim, but if you do what my adversary did in any other sim with two similar performing fighters, like a WWII for example, I will out climb you and come on top. This is just physics, as I have more energy and your thrust can't compensate for this since both planes are similar in performance. -

I was a player on dog-fighting server. As far as I am aware, the server has strict IC. At first I was surprised that I could not out turn him using max sustained turn-rate and since he slowed down quite a bit, I've decided to climb thinking I can utilize my energy advantage. The end was not pretty. -

To be honest with you, I don't think it makes any sense doing BFM in DCS in anything else except same aircraft. There are way too many discrepancies. The other day I got out-turned and out-climbed in a Flanker by a low-energy Mirage 2000 and ever since then I just enter a fight knowing I will lose and just practice handling and SA and not caring too much about the outcome. -

Your results mean that M-200C has higher thrust-to-drag ratio than the MiG-29A. Aircraft settle into certain sustained turn rate once the drag from high Angle-of-Attack equals the thrust produced. I was under the impression that the delta-wing of the Mirage should be very draggy under high AoA, but what do I know? I am no expert. -

Unless something changed in the meanwhile there are only 3 states in DCS: - engine off - engine on - A/B on
