    Black Shark 3?

I strongly suspect that the Igla (Now it's pointed out, 'Eagla' sounds good :-) is being added to the "Ka-50ED" as a concession to future MAC offline players.... Doesn't matter though - as long as they put a setting in the ME to let servers force them off if they want to enforce realistic loadouts. (you could just remove Igla from all airbases, but some aircraft should have access...
  2. You keep saying this, but it's not much more true than saying that if you know what's in the F/A-18C you know what's in the F-5E Tiger 2 In both cases the newer airframe is a development from the older, but the F/A-18C and F-5E T2 are not the same aircraft manufactured on different day, and neither are the Ka-50 and Ka-52

Then you don't understand what mythical means. This is a very rare, but real animal. If you make a model of this, you're making a model of a real thing - even though there are only a few in the world, and none left in the wild. This is an imaginary animal. The Ka-50 with a MLWS is like the former - rare, but real The Ka-50 with a third rail is like the later - a mythical creation I think that the whole argument about whether an imaginary third rail to hold the IGLA is acceptable might be secondary to the fact that if you read the Russian Ka-50 thread there's pretty much a consensus (including from E.D.) that the Ka-50 never actually fielded "needles" on any airworthy airframe: Игл Eagle Игла Needle

    Black Shark 3?

I don't get why you persist in flogging a dead horse - just accept that the Ka-50 never had a third set of pylons. WRT to your post above, the significant part is: Perhaps Kamov intended to add extra pylons, perhaps they didn't. Maybe it was Elbit's idea... Kamov didn't add them to initial builds of the Ka-52 which were built after the Ka-50-2. Perhaps they dreamed that one day there'd be ground mapping radar in the Ka-50 - it's added to the Ka-29, why shouldn't we have it here too ? In the end, they didn't do either thing, and asking for them to be added to a module is asking for imaginary features. If you really want to get E.D. to add extra pylons because you think it would improve gameplay, that's fine - just ask for that...
  5. No, this: Just unsubstantiated mud-slinging.
  6. Oh come on - don't go being reasonable - you're spoiling all the fun of people that have waited months and months to complain about something

    42GB Update

1, I'm pretty sure the people saying it's 20GB that unpacks to 40GB are right, and 2/ try - On the last day of your billing period, start the download and at the point where you finish your quota, break the connection. Next day start again and it should just pick up where it left off
  9. Yes, for a long time.

    U.F.O.

You think ? That technological superiority of the Europeans didn't lead to peaceful outcomes for the countries they made parts of their empires as sources of resources - and even if they were peaceful, you think we would be ? Technologically inferior or not - someone would take offense at their 'otherness' and end up killing one somehow (leaving aside how the planet's religious groups would react...)

    Black Shark 3?

There is no "third A-A rail" with the Iglas. It's been asked repeatedly, but if anyone can find an image of a Ka-50 with a third rail - please show it, everyone is waiting (& wondering why people keep insisting it exists). Even the initial Ka-52 didn't have it. Saying that an aircraft that was derived from the Ka-50 received it at some much later date means that the Ka-50 must have had it too is like insisting that the F-5E should be able to carry mavericks because the F/A-18C can. For those who think it activates the invisible third pylon - what do you think you push to uncage the seeker ?

    Black Shark 3?

Why are the Su-33 AoA index lights set up the opposite way to every other aircraft - including those in the Russian AF ? "Why would you do it this way" is in no way or means actual evidence that the something isn't actually done that way. My guess ? Let's say you're right that putting the Igla on a pylon does get the bore-sight circle onto the HUD & give you the audio cue. You don't want to have to hold the nose pointed at the target while you decide whether to launch / wait for the target to get in range / manoeuvre to an optimal launch position, maybe that forward A2A switch un-cages the seeker & at the appropriate time you launch.

    Black Shark 3?

"I was under the impression it was because they wanted to expand its role as a surveillance and command aircraft" I thought standard procedure was that they would have a specialist Ka-27(29?) in the flight for that role ?

    Black Shark 3?

    LOL - yes, that's why I said "has some anti-helicopter A-A capability " not "has anti-helicopter A-A capability"
  15. Weta43

    Black Shark 3?

Which I suspect was Kamov's position, especially given that the Vikh has some anti-helicopter A-A capability anyway... You would also get a MLWS & IR countermeasures system (IR 'jammer'), which might be very useful for a ground attack role...

    Black Shark 3?

Perhaps it just enables some other systems - like perhaps it turns on a lock tone from the Igla seeker that you wouldn't want whining away every time something hot crossed your path, or maybe it starts the cooling of the seeker head (if it has that). Maybe it marks a boresight on the HUD or schval screen that you wouldn't get from the ballistics computer. Any number of things that have nothing to do with a third set of pylons... Your 'No one has ever seen a Ka-50 with a third set of pylons, but I personally can't think of a better reason for a third switch position than another pylon, so it must exist' argument isn't really convincing me. No, it was put in selection trials against the MiL and was selected as the new attack helicopter - with a single seat... But - It was considerably more expensive & USSR/Russia had run out of cash (Look at all the AESA radars the Russians built for the Su-27 & offered for export versions, but could never afford to field themselves - it wasn't because the Su-27S radar was better, just they couldn't afford to spend more than they absolutely had to and lots of slightly inferior was better than very few excellent), and it faced resistance from conservative elements within the armed services (a bit like those groups within the USAF hierarchy that fought the F-16 because they objected to the light single engine - 'no redundancy' concept) In the end Kamov decided against fighting the system & existing prejudices and put another pilot in.

You can't prove a negative through a lack of evidence, but a positive is easy. All you have to do is find a photo of Ka-50 bort #25 (apparently the only one ever fitted with a functioning MLWS ) with the third pylon fitted & that would end the argument. edit: https://www.net-maquettes.com/pictures/kamov-ka-50-hokum-walkaround/
  18. I took PilotMi8's comment as implying it's not about to arrive in the immediate future: MaKoUr : 2. Will it be possible to fly together on the Mi-24P in the network? PilotMi8 : 2. Sometime - I think yes 1. Just in case you're interested - it's "to (or until / 'til) their heart's content" - meaning they do it until their heart is happy.

Then I'm sure you'll be happy enjoying the new cockpit of your existing module, and be here thanking E.D. for the free upgrade you received.
  20. So you'll be arguing that your copy of the long awaited DCS.F-15C module will be free because you think the clickable cockpit should have been present on your FC3 F-15C ? ("Why should I pay extra for an upgrade when it's the same plane I've paid for already ? - All those extra clickable functions are just things they should have included in the first place !") The features the Ka-50 had when it was sold are the features that you paid for when you bought it, and any systems that might have been modelled but weren't - well they weren't included in the purchase price, so you haven't paid for them. Igla, FLIR, WLWS, filters on the Schval - none of those were listed as features of the module you've paid for, if they're added now to an upgrade - well you have never paid for them, why should you receive them for free ? (other than "I feel I deserve it !!!")
  21. Please pass the community's condolences to his family & tell them his presence was valued here.
  22. I stopped testing at Xmas, and I don't think I'm breaking any NDA's to say that I wouldn't let those pics dishearten you.
  23. 1/ "just let me enjoy the module without having to buy..." If you'd read carefully before posting, you'd have seen that you can continue to play the exact product you bought, but with upgraded 3D models and graphics, for free "without having to buy" anything. 2/ "let me enjoy the module without having to buy a gps, (...)" this gripe reflects the fact that you have "Less than 10 hours I would estimate" flight time in the Ka-50. The Fa-50 has had a GPS system installed from the very first release of BS1. So you bought a module that you didn't use enough to even realise what systems are installed, and because you didn't use it, it you feel it wasn't good value for money, & that somehow this is E.D.'s failing in the product itself, & now you're complaining that to continue using the module (that you don't use) you will have to pay for an upgrade (that it has already been stated will be free), and insisting that it's not fair to charge you for new features because you bought the original version ?
