  1. That tutorial does not work with the latest version of the Mig15. You need number ground power for it to start which is not mentioned in this video. Also, apparently, battery switch is left off in the real aircraft when you connect ground power and ignition switch switched off after engine start. There is a good post from a real life Mig 17 driver in the general section. Real good read.
  2. You might want to google hotsstarts on jet engines :music_whistling:

  5. Very impressive. One thing I will change though is the joystick :P
  6. The problem with a simulation is that you react on visual cues, ie the nose going this or that way on takeoff. In the real world you'd feel that long before you see it and correct accordingly. In the sim however you are kinda behind, ie things already happened when you get round to correct it hence the unusual oscillation some make on their takeoff runs.
  7. What causes that? Every time you put some g's on the aircraft it makes this whining sound. It's in the DCS sound set and clearly audible on cockpit youtube videos of the real Mustang. Anyone have an idea?
  8. Nice trick you pulled there with the MFD's and the Saitek throttle. Might steal your idea there :)
  9. I have both the warthog and X65F. You'll get used to it within the day, took me just about an hour if I remember correctly. Now using the warthog since I did for the A10, and no use switching to the saitek right now.
  10. And this morning they fixed my line. Apprently a linebreak 600m from my house. Reported the 5th and fixed on the 17th, not bad
  11. Well, last night, still without DSL ofcourse, I used my iphone's hotspot feature to connect my mac to it and used it's internet sharing over ethernet to activate the P51. Yay!!!! Very impressed with the initial impression, now I need to unpack my Warthog and put away my Saitek Yoke to fly the Mustang for awhile, meaning my NGX and CRJ (which I also just bought yesterday) will have to be parked for a little while.
  12. My first takeoff was hilarious, wish I saved that track :D It did not go well.
  13. Allegedly "Hartlike goeie môre radar, comair 618, Pan, pan, pan...":lol::lol::lol:
  14. :megalol: Also love this aircraft and since it's the only one I can fly at the moment in the DCS world until helkom fixes my DSL line I'm having a blast. BTW, did Kalahari really make that chirp regarding the pan call the other day? Knowing him I can imagine he did. :megalol:
  15. Well, helscum promised me a resolution by friday. Lets see if that's going to happen. Going to try the email activation tonight then.
  16. Sitting at work when I post here. :) I'll give helkom another day or two to fix my line, then I'll do the email activation thanx.
  17. You win :megalol: ;) My DSL is still down :( I cannot do the cell phone thing, no wifi on my desktop and tried a 3G modem that refused to stay connected. I'm screwed till they fix my line it seems
  18. Big big plus this, in the past it was a hit and miss/retry affair placing units in open areas or exactly where you wanted. This is big up for me.
  19. Bought it on Thursday but haven't been able to play yet since my DSL line is down and I cannot activate this puppy. Aaarggghhhh!!!!
  20. I agree. In the UI there is a tickbox, ala Falcon 4, which when clicked prob just takes the current output value of the joystick and put it into a variable which is then used throughout to determine when you go into AB/WEP. Cannot see it being such a big time investment issue.
  21. I know one was lost due to SAM action, another badly damaged but made it home only to overun the runway on landing (no hydraulics) whereupon the seat malfunctioned and the pilot was ejected and subsequently became a quadriplegic. He was a very successful motivational speaker after that. I seem to remember there were a gun kill on a mig but I cannot verify this. EDIT: Found it http://saairforce.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3079#p22117 C
  22. South Africa also used it in the Angola war.
  23. My Seattle does not have the highrise buildings but settings are pretty much maxed out. Anything I miss somewhere or did they come with the new update.
  24. The wear and tear model that A2A offers is a big plus for me. This band spanking new aircraft each time you climb into the thing is one of the big things that annoys me immensely.
