resolved F-16C autopilot - required conditions to activate
TheBiggerBass replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I did some more trials. It simply seems an issue of stick not well centered. I'm using a VKB Gunfighter Ultimate 4 with very weak springs and strong damping. It recenters when released but only slow. Due the autopilot seems sensitive to pitch/roll chnages the slow recentering movement seems to cause this issues Paddle switch depress is bound to pinky (index) switch on the VKB GF and not causing any issues afaik. Conclusion: it does not seem to be a bug, it's most likely my stick setup. -
About 84GB for me, but I have all terrains and most modules. However, may be I misunderstood this but wasn't it intended to have CW Germany phase II with this release? My CW Germany map is still phase I.

OH-6A by Tobsen and Eightball
TheBiggerBass replied to tobi's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Well at least I how I currently operate it the tail rotor still seems to overreact. When Yaw seems stable I shortly press Trim Release and let Z stick axis (pedals) return to center position. But when recentered Yaw immedeatly goes havoc again. Maybe I need to tune Time to fade in trim in ms parameter ? -

OH-6A by Tobsen and Eightball
TheBiggerBass replied to tobi's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I'm using a VKB Gunfighter Ultimate 4. It has springs but I'm using the weakest possible springs and high damping. It returns to center position but only slow. Keeping cylic pitch and roll out of center therefore requires just little manual force. For pedal trim I'm using the Z axis of the stick which has no damping for the center return. Therefore I'd like to trim the pedals at least to avoid having to manually hold it out of stick center. -

Ok, I have a stick without extension too and will try with reduced sensivity for cyclic. I guess I am used too much to the larger helis like AH-64D or CH-47 where cyclic is way more forgiving. -

Well, then I must do something wrong. I guess my expectations for trim are too high for the OH-6A. It also seems difficult to "feel" the center of force without a FFB stick. What does Govenor trim do ? -

I mean a training video how to use the trim. I also would like to know what Govenor Trim does. I would normally expect from trim to stabilize the flight at current attitude. At least it should take the current pedal trim as new pedal center position. -

If you mean the special trim options these are the settings I am using: I also tried it with Pedal Trim checked but it's not much of an improvement. For trim bindings I have already bound all of them to the trim hat on my VKB stick. I'm trying to stabilize the flight with very gentle cyclic and collective adjustments and Trim Release/Trim Reset but I'm not really getting it under control. Is there perhaps a video available somewhere? Btw: what does Govenor Trim do? -
Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025)
TheBiggerBass replied to plusnine's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
When starting instant action for A-4E-C I get the error message (attached) that CH-47 and CH-53 mods are incompatible with the A-4E-C and have to be removed. After clicking "ignore" the instant action still starts without any noticeable functions missing. What's going on? -

How is it activated? -
Why don't you calculate it in 1983 War Games style using a 300 Byte/s acoustic coupler ? You could have finished high school + university in that time. And where to store the 250,000 floppy disks ?

Is there any way to force trim the OH-6A ? Flying the OH-6A is like riding a wild horse -
Dead planes return to DCS

Great ! Will there be an english cockpit ? -

F-16C autopilot - required conditions to activate
TheBiggerBass replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Well, if the A/P only operates with perfectly centered and trimmed stick then my question is already answered, I suppose. However, I will try to record a track which demonstrates what I was mentioning later today. -
F-16C autopilot - required conditions to activate
TheBiggerBass replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
My mechanical stick setup (VKB gunfighter 4 ultimate) is with weak spring centering, high damping, and mechanically reacts rather like a helicopter cyclic stick without springs. Pitch/roll enter dead zone is set to zero too. May be that's the issue. -
I guess I didn't fully understand yet how to activate the F-16C autopilot. The DCS manual lists the following conditions for disengagement: Angle-of-Attack exceeds 15°. Bank angle exceeds 60°. Low speed audio warning is triggered. Landing gear is extended and locked. The autopilot has failed or malfunctioned. The FLCS is operating on Digital Backup software. ALT FLAPS switch is set to EXTEND position below 400 knots. TRIM/AP DISC switch is set to DISC position. AIR REFUEL switch is set to OPEN position. MANUAL PITCH switch is set to OVRD position. However although none of the above conditions are met after enganging alt hold autopilot the aircraft pitches or rolls off after a few seconds and must be stabilized manually to prevent uncontrolled flight. HDG sel does not seem to be activated to, at least the aircraft does not seem to follow to next steering point although it's activated and coords are set correctly. Please help to understand how to operate A/P correctly in the F-16C.

How to have a clean HUD-only (ALT+F1) View Without MFDs? (F-15C)
TheBiggerBass replied to CommandT's topic in DCS 2.9
I would like to reopen this topic for a slightly different request: Resize left/right MFD display for Alt+F1 HUD view only. (no additional MFD display in F1 cockpit view) Any ideas?
