Is there a tool or an easy way to modify or replace required mods in existing missions? I have many missions for the MiG-29S that I would like to reuse for the new MiG-29A Fulcrum. I would also like to reuse F-14 or F/A-18 missions and campaigns for the F-16 or MiG-29A. Sometimes older missions require modules that are no longer available, and I would like to disable them. Manual editing with the Mission Editor is tedious and does not always work.

I suggest to get familiar with imperial units as long you are flying. Makes life and documentation use much easier. I am used to metric system too but switch over to imperial units when flying. It does not take long to get used to.

Afghanistan map not available after Sept-17 update
TheBiggerBass replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in General Bugs
Thanks for the hint, although atm I didn't notice any VMM related issues on my system. DCS runs fine with >100fps @ 5120x1440px and no visible stutters on my system. That's good enough for me. -
Afghanistan map not available after Sept-17 update
TheBiggerBass replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in General Bugs
Thanks. Enabling via DCS terrain menu fixed it. But it's strange. I never used the terrain enable menu in DCS and always used the launcher for this. In the launcher all maps still shows as enabled. Btw Iraq was disabled too. Maybe something weird happened during yesterdays 347GB download procedure which stopped due to server overload after 90GBs and I had to restart it. Issue fixed and closed. -
The title says it all: Afghanistan map not available anymore after Sept-17 update. I tried to unselect and reselect Afghanistan map in DCS launch manager - without success. Afghanistan map and all associated content in DCS is not available anymore after latest DCS update. It is still available on SSD. (logfile attached) dcs.log

Lots of great changes and updates. Will take some time to examine all of them. But I'm missing my Afghanistan map. It's still there on the SSD but although selected to be included it doesn't show up anymore in DCS.

Well, I've got almost all modules including new Fulcrum plus NS430. This update nearly touches everything in my installation. Might take a while this time ...
-
Still loading - 347 GB this time. I guess it's due to because I've got all maps.
-
Great! A/A and A/G training missions would also be nice. The F-104 gets far too little love in DCS.

Is there any way to stop the constant spinning view in encyclopedia? I know it stops when you click on the view but it starts again when you view the next model. I would like to stop it by default.

A good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the metric system

I admit that was a bit provocative, and I didn't really expect ED to actually respond to it. I would much rather see military conflicts being fought out in DCS only. I know, it's a naive wish.

Suggestion for DCS Launcher custom profiles.
TheBiggerBass replied to Tristanelli's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Would be great if the launcher also allows to setup which moduls and terrains to be used with the tree custom settings. -
How about an Ukraine-RUS map? Taiwan might be of interest too in the future ...

When CW Germany Phase 3 - which correspond to phase 1 on your proposal - size is already +200GB I guess whole Europe would be at least 10x larger also in terms of work to implement. I don't know if ED or Ugra would be able to manage this.

I guess the Normandy 2.0 update download should start automatically upon next DCS start, correct? I wonder why there is no download when I started DCS a few minutes ago.

It does not seem so. I tested all livery locations I am aware of but .zip files are not recognized by DCS. It must be stored as .dds within seperate directories. @Rudel_chw .zip to .dds size ratio varies. May be I picked an extreme example. However, I do not understand why DCS restores Liveries as .zip files to CoreMods or Mods/aircraft folders but does not unzip them. They are useless as .zip files for DCS. There are hundreds of them in DCS World/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries and Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>. I moved and unzipped them all to Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>. Of course that increased their total size by approx. 2x or 3x but at least DCS recognizes them now. Edit: Ok, forget it. I did further trials. Liveries in .zip format are recognized if saved in DCS World/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries . Liveries stored in other locations like Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name> have to be in .dds format and seperate directories.
-
Ok, understand. But in which priority does DCS looks them up to use them? Like this? Saved Games/DCS/Mods/<aircraft name>/Liveries Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>/<livery name> DCS World/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries Which would imply to only place new liveries in Saved Games/DCS/Mods/<aircraft name>/Liveries What format have these liveries to be stored? Do they have to stored as .dds in there seperate directories or can the directory be packed as a space saving .zip?
-
Where does DCS look for liveries? And which location is prioritized in case the same liveries are installed more than once in seperate locations? I found these locations: DCS World/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries DCS World/Mods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>/Liveries Saved Games/DCS/Mods/<aircraft name>/Liveries There may be even other locations. I also found the same liveries as .dds files in a directory but also packaged in a .zip file. Which ones does DCS use? I would like to store them at a single location in their most size efficient form, preferable as a .zip.

With all maps and most of DCS aircrafts installed my DCS installation requires approx. 1.45TB SSD space, Saved Games included. A 2TB SSD will be ok I guess, but as I have other games too I decided for a 8TB SSD. Unfortunately I do not have access to any faster web connection than 50MBit/s. DCS updates often requires a few hours. The last DCS update was 110GB for me.
