Possible UB, G, GT and/or AS variants down the line
Gierasimov replied to NSAdonis85's topic in Wish List
Yep, I don't mind original 9.12 and possibly would also be happy with MiG-29KVP experimental one, however proper K was derived from M so not going to happen before Flanker D or Frogfoot A (although NineLine already said Su-25 it ain't possible). Lets wait for DCS: Flanker 3.0 in my dreams at least -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Gierasimov replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Air-To-Air Missile Development. We plan to migrate the R-27 (AA-10) family and R-73 (AA-11) missiles to a new component structure and flight dynamics. This will be coupled with a new proximity fuse model that accounts for Doppler closing speed, modified seekers, and a more realistic interaction model between the missile and the supporting radar. This will be done within the larger MiG-29 project framework. Other missile types will also be developed in the same way.- 178 replies

While it would technically be possible to do G variant (with NATO bits) I think in terms of avionics , K is absolutely out if reach right now otherwise we would be flying it. This was the last time we could land MiG-29K on a carrier: -

Yep, me too! Absolutely and very needed Nice future for DCS! -

That is one of the best comments of appreciation I saw regarding Fulcrum. Fully agree!

Bagdad airport seems to be matched very nicely!
Gierasimov replied to Gierasimov's topic in DCS: Iraq
Relax, sometimes it's worth cross check info, and that's what I did. I did not attack neither of you guys, I appreciate all the efforts. Please take no offense as none was intended, written text sometimes conveys message without the emotions and sometimes that message can be taken with a lot of emotions. Important though is to convey facts at all times. -

Gierasimov replied to Gierasimov's topic in DCS: Iraq
Well, would be lovely to actually see Bagram as well! Nevertheless, I pointed out Bagram misspeak to confirm it I wasn't going insane! Plot twist - ED modeled Bagdad airport on the Afghanistan map, simply coz Iraq and Afghanistan is one large map;) -

Gierasimov replied to Gierasimov's topic in DCS: Iraq
Ahh... Got you now. Yep, true. Great job so far ED ! -
Don't worry, flight model will be tweaked / corrected if there is a need for it. Also, in that video Bagdad is being "sold" as Bagram, so who knows... As always, if there is public data to support any claims, including FM they will make it right, they are the best! In addition, remember that Fulcrum is the testbed for the new AI GFM (was it General Flight Model?) Which makes it even more exciting to wait for the future Fulcrum AI flight members

Thanks. I know the movie, not sure what's the relation to my appreciation of the Iraq map preview authenticity though. -

Absolutely true NineLine, did not mean to finger point anyone, great map, great things coming to DCS. -
So far I was only able to confirm "lazur" name with relation to either MiG-21 (-M) or MiG-23 (here it was already Lazur-SM)

I just went through the manuals again and no mention of automation between SAU-451 and E502-20, now thinking more about the Biryuza I am inclined to believe it would pose a technical challenge in late 70s' early 80s' to design a reliable way of remote controlling a fighter jet from the ground, nor it would make much of a sense anyways. Still, receiving cues on the HUD will bring interesting gameplay, however I do see that DCS has to develop the EWR concept / technology to be in position to integrate Biryuza within Fulcrum-A module, so hopefully at least after initial Early Access it will happen.

I am not sure why @Wags said it was Bagram, which seems to be repeated by @Silver_Dragon but nevertheless I must say that the quality of detail on the upcoming Bagdad airport looks rather promising. Well done ED terrain team, really nice piece of work in progress. Funny that neither of the experienced airmen could tell the difference, with at least Wombat putting a correct guess -

The only thing I found in the - I think forbidden - manual is referencing E502-20 “Biryuza” system as part of the 9.12 avionics. According to the manual, the pilot receives flight cues regarding target location and intercept course on the HUD/HDD. Autopilot section of the manual does not say anything about 9.12 flying itself to those cues or maybe I misinterpreted it?
-
Both Poland and Ukraine use 9.12 so no problem at all to represent them in DCS.
-
HDD repeats what's shown in HUD depending on its mode. Both displays are part of the same system as @JetFighterGirl nicely summarizes above. Data link that you are looking for is the E502-20 “Biryuza”, short radio bursts that are sending commands to the aircraft updating it's target location which is displayed on the HUD and repeated on HDD. There is a bit of confusion at the moment if DCS: Fulcrum-A will feature E502-20 “Biryuza”, we need to wait for the reveal and features roadmap.

German 29+20 that you posted @JetFighterGirl is the one here in these photos, the sources say that it is one of the jets transferred to Ukrainian Air Force by Poles.

Fulcrum - A is the first one, the next will be Frogfoot, Su-25 or Su-25K I think.
