DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Upcoming Update
YoYo replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
You have to bind the keys/buttons/axes again, for me I loose 50% my buttons but I rebind it again. So far so good. -
After today's patch it's harder to see anything on the picture, I have the impression that the contrast has been increased and many objects have become too bright, interestingly you can't adjust the image properly so that objects on the ground are visible as before. Has anyone else noticed this too?

DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Upcoming Update
YoYo replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
However, after 2 hours of flying - yes, the sounds are very nice, in my opinion they should be 15-20% louder, but overall it is a very nice change. Currently, Kiowa also needs to be flown more carefully, a few bullets and my engine was completely destroyed. I had to land on autorotation. DM appeared and now you need to be more careful because you can quickly get surprised. There was also some drift after hovering, cool option, thanks! -
There was also a problem with animation of radio selector. Todays patch broke radio animation, no possibility to use it by the key, animation is only to the top, not to the 3rd position. The same 4th position - pilot radio selector or copilot too. Mouse works still, just wrong animation for buttons (3 VHF and 5 FM2).Always this 4 sided button for radio is working upwards (if you use a keys/buttons). (so for example you cant use argument 14 in the whole range, only 2x top)

I have it, Ok, I'll check, thx for the tip. Edit: yes I confirm that was it, thx , I completely forgot I had this mod, I got so used to it. I hope Taz makes a new version, although he hasn't been on the Forum for a long time. -
DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Upcoming Update
YoYo replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I see differences and some of them are positive - sounds and I like the new sound of the rotor under load, but I also feel that not all sounds are there (starter, few clicks), and some are unfortunately quieter. I fly with the doors open and I have the impression that the new ones are quieter than the old ones. I also lost some keys, many things have to be remapped. Currently I also have CTD every time when I use unguided Hydra 70 M151 rockets. Can you check this too? -
DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Upcoming Update
YoYo replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Yep, interesting! It looks like the patch was released but only partially and probably not finished? -
287 Gb? Wow, huge patch! Good thing I have a lot of free space there (still) !
-
War Thunder was in the previous patch (I haven't had a chance to check today's yet). It's not that easy to give a slider. People also fly online and imagine that someone has the slider set to the maximum dot, and someone, with the same VR set, has it set to the minimum. The chances are then unequal. There was a survey about VR hardware and resolution recently. Currently, it is moving towards fixed settings but depending on the googles (brand) and their resolution, which can be a pretty good solution if you can finally reach a compromise. Once I check today's Patch I'll let you know how it is.

I didnt check it yet but Todays patch brings something new with the Dot :)!

Patch is planned for Today!

DCS Launcher as Disk Manager (for disk free space)
YoYo replied to YoYo's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I personally bought a 4TB NVMe drive right after the release of Kola, when I found out that there would still be seasons. It will probably be enough for a while, but there is no guarantee . And what about when the spherical earth comes out! -
Recently, the size of DCS is constantly growing. There are people who have also stopped buying new maps because of the space DCS takes up on their disk (for me it's about 1TB, and I'm sure that after Iraq + Germany, updates of current maps and some new modules in 2025 it will be 1.5TB or more). In some cases I've even seen posts that people were unable to install the update. The situation is unlikely to change, and disk capacity will continue to increase. The solution may be relatively simple. Today DCS is installed and contains everything in its folder + Saved Games. However, the Launcher should also work as a client, the user should be able to divide the installation, for example, into different disks. This way you will get rid of the problem that someone has no more space on 1 disk. This way someone could have DCS core on one disk, modules on another and large maps on the third. Something like the ORBX Central client, or even partly Steam (games on different discs). Some programs for MSFS, such as MSFS Addons Linker, also work this way. Please think about this option for Launcher as Disk manager too.

DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Upcoming Update

Great info! Cant wait, so simply! -
Polychop-Simulations **Upcoming Patch for DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior - Sound Overhaul & More!** Dear Kiowa Warrior community, We’re excited to share details about our next update for the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module, addressing key feedback from our dedicated users. Since the module’s release in June, we’ve been hard at work on a comprehensive patch that includes an overhaul of our input system, extensive bug fixes, and a sound update you won’t want to miss! ***Unfortunately, this patch won’t be in the immediate DCS World update due to the timing of our final testing. We’re targeting the next update to ensure a smooth release.*** **Echo 19 Sound Overhaul** We’ve partnered with Echo 19 Audio Production to bring a complete sound overhaul to the Kiowa Warrior. This update introduces meticulously captured audio from Bell 407GXP flights, enhancing rotor, turbine, blade slap, M3P weapon sounds, and even intricate cockpit switch and linkage sounds. Echo 19’s industry expertise ensures a more immersive auditory experience, capturing the authentic atmosphere of this iconic helicopter. Echo 19 supplied a first "look" of the overhaul earlier this month, check out the YouTube video here if you haven't already: https://youtu.be/uum3534IcD0 **Why the Delay?** Our new input system required significant engineering time. The update not only simplifies keybinds for both pilot and co-pilot positions, but it also adds many more keybindings to cater to various hardware setups, including those for pit builders. This reduction in repetitive code allows for more intuitive control mappings. However, given that input updates often affect all current keybinds, we’re taking extra care to test each change. By refining this input system now, we hope to avoid future disruptions. **What’s Included?** - **Feature-level changes:** - Improved damage modeling - Performance improvements - Input fixes and additions - Echo 19 Sound Overhaul - **Bug fixes:** - Fixed IDM not displaying wingmen as recipients - Can no longer store positions from IDM messages when no positions selected to be stored (CTD fix) - Fixed CTD on receiving BDA with Air Mission EOM - Fixed LMC trying to stabilize with 0 range - Vox (used for SRS intercom volume in game) now starts at 75% - Airbag circuit breaker now starts OUT - Fixes for DTC loading waypoints/control points/target points - Fixed L2MUM page bug when using WPN/ASE switch - Fixed SA symbology being visible in HSD - Fixed ODA display to Direct Point - Fixed display conditions for NVGs, Visor and Mask - Collective clickables no longer accessible when collective is hidden - CI state now syncs correctly on join - Various fixes for MMS, LMC, Laser and MFD states on join in progress - Disabled MMS resolution changes until render issue can be resolved by ED - Hellfire VSD page displays manual laser codes correctly - Radios correctly named in ME - Fixed airbags not synced for the rest of clients - Implemented fixed MIL-2525 symbol (thanks ED!) - CPG Sparse VSD L1 laser readout behaviour fixed - RTE SEQ now default on for cold start - AI now has some hover instability - Added editor option for allowing PDU show/hide when installed (defaults to ON) - Adjusted hover attitude and fixed roll reference indicator offset - Fixed armour doors in multicrew - MMS diagonal slewing improvements for both axis and button inputs - Fixed input behaviour for radio frequencies - Fixed incorrect DTC loading behaviour - Fixed heading hold/force trim conflict Thank you for your patience and continued support. We’re thrilled to bring these improvements to the Kiowa Warrior, and we look forward to delivering a refined experience in the coming DCS update. **Polychop Simulations**

But this is pointless, it will make an even bigger mess, especially since some things use the same textures (e.g. from the Bazar), etc. I propose another solution, so that the Launcher is also a Disc Manager - like in the ORBX application (ORBX Central), where the user chooses where to install what, modules on one disk, maps on another, etc. In this way, he can manage the space on the disk and the problems with space will disappear. Recently, more and more people write about problems with free space. DCS has all the files in own folder plus Saved Games. The future is to possibly divide it into different disks and such an option should be in the Launcher as an option for managing the installation path. Simple and functional. My DCS is currently around 1TB, with more maps + next year modules it will quickly take up space around 1.5TB in 2025.

New, better graphical options can be nice but not at the cost of performance. If something is going to affect performance (even range of rendering) let it be as a user selectable option so that everyone can continue to enjoy DCS at its current level. I think the MT version has greatly improved performance, plus map streaming. Those were great moves, so it's interesting to see what else the future will bring.
-
That's right, this option doesn't work correctly now, unfortunately you have to wait until it starts working or you can skip this mission. Thanks for the feedback!
