  2. It is possible and I'm sure that's how they do it. Unfortunately the last key dump was prior to FC3 being available on steam.
  3. Since dcs is only two core software it wont max your CPU. I usually see around 35-40% usage. I'm not sure what CPU your are using but dcs is better on Intel due to higher ipc. Even with a matching clock spped Intel CPUs do more work than AMDs.
  4. If your looking to sell...put them on eBay. Litecoin miners are buying AMD cards right now. You should be able to get close to what you paid. Non reference cards are usually 50-100 over reference msrp so I cant see paying that much. To each his own...i think I'm going green with a 780
  5. Did you find yours at a reasonable price? All I can find are in the 570-600 range. I did find one at 480 but the estimated ship date was 1-3 months.
  6. There was a post when 1.2.7 came out and the common problem with the updater was bitdefender. Some were able to just disable. Most had to completely uninstall bitdefender. There should be an exempt/whitelist option you could try adding the updater to the list and see if that works.
  7. The humor is that AMD mantel is pretty close to OpenGL 4.4. http://www.opengl.org/documentation/current_version/
  8. Other than skates post the only testing I've seen is from AMD and dice. That was with 3 variations of AMD systems. Showing 20-60% depending how much the CPU was "bottlenecking" the gpu.
  9. The downside for now is the price of the r9 series. I was looking to get myself a 290 but the price is now $600usd. Hopefully it will come down soon or I'll be getting a 780 instead. Although this mantle news may have me waiting for the price to cone back down.
  10. ED has to send the purchased serial numbers to steam. Usually they do it once a month. With the number of FC3 keys it may take some time to sync the serials with steam.
  11. They are both the same. The announced fc3 removed the requirement of the original lockon installation along with a minor name change. 1.2.7 updated lockon:flaming cliffs 3 to dcs:flaming cliffs 3.
  12. You should be able to get a decent oc with upper mid range. I have an extreme4 gen3 which I think was around $200usd. I can get my 2500k to 4.8ghz. Probably higher but 4.8 is my thermal limit withbmy cooling.A high end mobo would be needed unless you want a huge overclock.
  13. 4.0ghz is fairly easy. Most will hit 4.5 no problem. Good CPUs can get to 4.6 or so. You would need a great CPU to hit 5.0 with decent voltages and temps. Water cooling is recommended over 4.5 ghz. Here's a quote from an overclocking article . "Of the processors Asus has tested, 70% hit 4.5GHz, 30% reached 4.6GHz, and 20% made 4.7GHz. Only 10% were stable at 4.8GHz. Heat is reportedly the limiting factor, and Asus recommends using a dual-fan water cooler to prevent thermal throttling past about 4.5GHz or 1.25V. Going beyond 1.35V is apparently problematic even for high-end water coolers. "
  14. More expensive boards usually use higher quality components. The reviews I read when I was board shopping showed the higher end boards performed a little bit better. Not a big difference maybe 1-5% depending on the task. They were also able to get higher overclocks. With the 2500k the high end boards could hit 5.0-5.2 ghz. The lower end boards usually topped out around 4.8ghz. Unless youre going for a huge overclock you won't notice much difference other than specific features. I would recommend a mid-high range board that has good reviews, a good warranty, and has what you need.
  15. It syncs the monitor refresh rate to the fps output of the video card. If your card is capable of say 49 fps on a 60htz monitor vsync the way it is now will drop to a number that is a ratio of 60 htz. In the case of 49/60 it would drop to 45 fps and throw out 4 frames which can cause microstutters and input lag due to lost frames. With vsync off you could get some tearing even at fps lower than you refresh rate due to the video card rendering multiple frames in the middle of a refresh. G-sync and freesync are better ways to "vsync" under the refresh rate of the monitor.
  16. I think you mean duoploy since there are 2 gpu makers. For one I think they are doing a good job competing as they keep one upping the other. Maybe complain about the CPU douply as gpu performance has increased at least 10 fold in the same period as CPU performance.
  17. Around 1.2.5 the issues with memory under 6gb really started showing. Most likely this is your issue. If you have an older version 1.2.4 or earlier you should be able to install that and play. The only other option would be an os+memory upgrade.
  18. Christmas is Jan 7 in Russia so you may need to be patient. Hopefully it will be fixed soon for you. cichlidfan beat me to it
  19. Mantle is supposedly going to be compatible with non amd cards. So business wise it would probably be more profitable for NVIDIA to jump on the mantle bandwagon. With the consoles being amd most developers would probably use amd optimized code. Since most pc games are console ports I dont see big developers spending extra money to port to PC then optimize for a nvidia API when the majority of the work would be done if using mantle across the consoles and PC. Unless of course nvidia can make an API that was much better than mantle.
  20. Yes it is possible to transfer modules. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1920180&postcount=1
  21. The main changes are advanced flight models and 6dof cockpits. The fc3 planes are the same as the individual modules without the lockon requirement. As for the F15 an afm possibly somewhere down the road a dcs module. However there has been nothing concrete stated. There is an F15e from a third party coming.
  22. It could be a weak power supply. According to this article 2 gtx 780s need 800w and that's without cpu/gpu overclock. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_780_windforce_oc_review,7.html The 80 plus rating (silver, gold, ect.) has nothing to do with cleanliness of power delivered. It only deals with psu efficiency. Or how many watts is supplies compared to how many watts it actually uses. The tip I can give is to read lots of detailed reviews. They usually test everything including power cleanliness. Like cichlid fan recommended I would say 1000w or maybe even a little higher.
  23. Case upgrade is fairly easy as is a psu upgrade. The case upgrade is just screws and moving parts. Psu upgrade is just matching plugs. With the instructions that come with them if you can read and comprehend it should be fairly easy. The downside of the case upgrade is the question of if they used a custom board with custom mounting points. My last dell was like that. Motherboard mounts didnt matchup to the new case.
  24. Youre best bet would be to check your case and measure to see what size card you could fit. Most likely the psu will also need replaced. The last dell I bought was able to barely fit a gtx 260 so a new card isn't out of the question. The psu it came with was only 350w. Where are you located? I have an old gtx 260ti core 216 I would be willing to give you if you can pay shipping and it will fit in your case. Which is probably more powerful than your current card. It does require a 500w psu. According to this website the old 285 that was mentioned a few posts ago is more powerful than a gtx 650. http://www.hwcompare.com/13551/geforce-gtx-285-2gb-vs-geforce-gtx-650/
