Have you tried using the curves in the controller settings. As a former x52 user I did find a solution online for the jitteryness. Basically you replace the magnets in the stick with high power neodymium magnets. A recalibration and it worked a lot better.

I have done it on my daughter's laptop. Long story short my wife got her a cheap laptop for Xmas. When I went to get her games and whatnot installed found out it only has 32gb storage. I got steam and origin installed and games as well. She plays games like minecraft, five nights at Freddy's, and the Sims. Aside from long load times keep in mind it was a usb 2.0 drive...it worked pretty good. I can't tell you how it would work with something more intensive.

It also depends how well it ocs. As you can see here my 5820k@4.5 just beats bitmasters Sandy at 5.0ghz. Judging by the numbers he provided we could assume a Sandy at 4.5 would give somewhere around 2200-2400 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2863782#post2863782 So once you consider the randomness of overclockablility and the down turn it's taken recently the new processors aren't really much that much faster in terms of single thread. Granted most Sandy's won't hit 5 0

Alienware X51 R2 Graphics Card Upgrade
pacotito replied to kramfiftysix's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Keep in mind a cpu over clock will need better than stock cooling. It's an H87 chipset so it may not overclockable. 330w is also on the weak end of psus. Is it an actual power brick? Or an internal psu? According to the specs you would need a gpu that uses 2 6pin and less than 175w. -
3 runs of passmark 8 got me on I7-5820k@ 4.5 2709 2706 2707 No problems other than intel letting the bclk come into play again. It took me a while to get stable with the memory and cpu tweaking. Fortunately...the teachers werent right...and we do carry a calculator with us all the time. I had to figure out what cpu multiplier I would need for 4497mhz at 125 bclk:doh:

I think the activation code should work with both 32 and 64 bit as long as you use the same version of windows as you have on 32 bit. I could be wrong though?

Did you try using adaptive vsync with the max fps set lower? I think that would help with the stutters. If your monitor is 75hz and doesn't support 60hz you will never get a proper vsync running at 60hz.

Due to a recent family emergency I'm am looking to sell my gpu to someone. Prefer someone in the US. Asking $350 plus shipping. About 2 months of use. Send a pm if interested. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500311&cm_re=zotac_amp_gtx780-_-14-500-311-_-Product

The gtx220 is probably a little weak. You can download dcs world and try the free plane and see how it works for you.
-
It would be a download. You get your serial through email. After looking at the store it looks like there is a box version available at the bottom of the page. The download version will be up to date. If you purchase the box version you would still have to download dcs world in order to get updates.

Well I tested the psu on another board and didn't have an issue. The rest of the parts also tested good. So looks like its a board issue. Hopefully the CPU didn't get any damage.

I'm having an issue with my board. There was a lightening strike close to my house I'm thinking on the tv/internet since those went down as well. Unfortunately I forgot to unplug the Ethernet from my computer. After the storm passed I plugged the computer into the wall...it powered on for 5-10 secs than off. After that no response at all. I tried to remove componants with no luck in getting it to power on. I can get the psu to turn on and the fans start spinning by shorting the green to black on the psu. As soon as I remove the short the psu stops. I'm thinking something in the motherboard got fried. Any suggestions? Would there be any way to test the CPU without a good board?

Yes you will receive a serial number when you purchase. You get 10 activations. However you can deactivate for hardware/os changes. In the event you use all 10 activations you receive 1 after 30 days. Yes dcs updates without the need for another activation. You can also do a full reinstall of dcs without using an activation.

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
pacotito replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Just wait for ED to send steam a serial dump. Not sure how often they send them over. -
If you bought them from the DCS site the serials will be in your order history. If you bought from Steam they will be in your library. However if you do lose and can't recover your serial than you won't be able to activate and/or play.

I do air conditioning work in Texas and one of our high end clients has a Tesla. Not sure what model but it sure did look nice between his Ferrari and maserati.

best intel chip for DCS?
pacotito replied to SuperKungFu's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
He is also going to be doing video editing. Which would make the I7 a better choice for him. -
best intel chip for DCS?
pacotito replied to SuperKungFu's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
At a minimum for dcs an I5-xxxxk. With you doing video editing an I7 would be better. I would agree that the extreme would be overkill for dcs but it would be better for video editing. With what you have in mind for your system I would recommend an I7-4770k with a good cooler and overclock. 16gb of ram is plenty for dcs. Lower latency ram is more important for gaming than the clock speed of the ram so I would recommend not wasting money on the high clock speed memory. -
Are you buying a prebuilt PC or are you building it? Alot of money can be saved by building your own. Intel is definitely better than AMD. With dcs NVIDIA is better than AMD. That may change when EDGE arrives. I would recommend at least a gtx 760. 64bit os is required for dcs.
-
The .pro file is for the saitek software. The files you need for DCS are the .lua . If you mapped it differently you may need a new lua for dcs.
-
Yes it will be fine with that mb. The GTX 660 requires a 450w psu with 24 amps on the 12v rail. Generally speaking you should go with more power than the minimum. PSUs are most efficient at ~50% load meaning less heat and less wear and tear on the PSU. What is your budget for GPU? I would recommend a 760 but its about $100 usd more than the 660. With your board the is no option to sli since there is only one x16 slot.

The worst I've seen so far is 45+. That was with F15 in stormy weather. The Huey missions I've been locked at 60 but I haven't flown the Huey much so it was less than 5 mins.

I use the hyper 212 evo cooler on both mine and my kids systems. For ~$30usd its a great cooler. I'm on a 2500k @ 4.6 @ 1.26v and I get around 70-75c on prime. Usually around 60 when gaming for extended periods. I just upgraded my gpu to a gtx 780. I was originally looking at an r9-290 but prices are so inflated right now 600-650 so the price/performance isn't there right now for the last 2 generations of AMD gpus. So I'd recommend the 770 for you.
