  1. I'm supposed to strap myself into my car as well before I start the engine, but I don't.
  2. Hey Arm, good to see you around, lifestyles of the rich and famous lazing around in Slaapstad hey, hahaha. I followed the thread on Avcom today, one of the sport helicopter guys put some of the critics clearly in their places in that thread, he was very much in their faces about a lot of unsubstantiated claims. Handbags at dawn but he brought a minigun :) I am definitely going in this thing early next year. If I do a business trip to CT before then I will stay over and book a ride then.
  3. Picked this up on a local aviation forum. Its a charter offering various types of flights including a low down dirty 'combat simulation' flight with some low flying, touchdowns steep turns etc.. Heres a video. Sit back relax and drewl. The history of this airframe goes as follows, quoted directly from the local site of the people that imported the wonderful flying machine. I will be catching a ride in this in the new year when I am down in Cape Town. :pilotfly: http://www.sport-helicopters.co.za/huey-combat-mission
  4. No I do not, and I don't see 2500+ people requesting help here either about the same issue :smilewink: so I take it most of the process went off just swimmingly. My mail must have gone into spam and has been auto deleted. I am simply asking for a resend. I have mailed/pmed and sent message on kickstarter. All ignored, piss poor.
  5. Some light at the end of the tunnel, however, how hard can it be for any one of these guys to simply respond and resend the email they have sent to my account with my p51 keys? :disgust:
  6. I pméd Ilya and Luthier asking them to resend the email with the keys as I fear it was deleted in my spam folder. No response, no email.
  7. Its was done through kickstarter via the amazon pay channel with a credit card. Yeah, maybe it went to spam and has been auto cleared, certainly not there now though. Its a gmail account.
  8. Yup, with you on that, just after the software man, and do not expect any of the manuals at all till well into next year, even well after release. But my mates are chomping at the bit for the P51 keys hehe :D
  9. Maybe they ran out of keys in the bundle they were initially sent? I also saw in one of the updates that they would send through a survey regarding shipping (suppose for the T-shirt). They can keep the $15 shipping portion and the shirt from me, I was always only interested in the software. In the same mail though it said thanks for backing to the 2553 or so backers, looking around it seems the reward thing is a manual process which is quite daunting, so I guess we just have to wait.
  10. Thanks, had another look and nothing like that in my inbox.
  11. not so much  edit: just 2 questions to those that did receive the keys, 1. Where they mailed to your email as per the kickstarter updates, and if you dont mind can you clarify the sender and the title of the mail, so I can make 100% sure I am not missing it. 2. I want to give these 2 to my mates, will this be a problem in that the keys are somehow linked to my login account or something? thx
  12. Cool thx, pm'ed luthier1 here on eagle forums. Will wait and see.
  13. I haven't received either, am in for $215. Not a train smash as I have it already, was just going to pass it on to my mates anyway but keen to get an update.
  14. The DCS modules of the past were always singular, with the exception of Flamming Cliffs which offered lower fidelity fun on multiple platforms to provide a theater where people could fight 1 on 1 or in teams. I would like to think this project will offer much higher levels of fidelity than FC, similar to the P-51 for instance. A lot of folks have the Mustang, the new blood you are trying to reach do not. In order to offer a theater where individuals/teams/squadrons can operate and wage virtual war there needs to be similar year/era airframes on either side. At least 1 of each, just to get going. So a well thought out level where 2 airframes ( 1 on either side) is offered would be ideal as a kickstater, that way those newcomers that pledge at that level would be able to fly both, on opposing sides at their own choice. Those who already own the P-51 can plug it in, and fly it as well, others can buy. For me a 109 and a spit or the Dora and a Spit as a start. The P-51 can remain a pay module plugin, and anything else that comes along for that matter. Listening to Yoyo in the vid, most (if not all) of the groundwork has already been done for this with the P-51, so some tweaks to the fm and modelling required. (the smile on his face when Spitfire was mentioned tells me he has been spending some time on this already on the quiet :) ) Again DCS has always been pay for the modules, and I dont see why you guys should have to offer loads of airframes to garner support. If the flight models and fidelity levels are up to scratch people will flock to it in numbers. Again, I wish you all the best of luck, I am drooling at the mouth in anticipation of this if you guys get it right. And please please please, dedicated OEM server software.
  15. 1. That Amraam fellow is your huckleberry. ;) 2. Really, this almost made me cancel my pledge. I am so confused as it is with what I have put in against what I may get. It could not be more confusing if you tried. 3. Right from the start one of the first questions that came up was why no Paypal! Of course this is a good idea. 4. To me, just bundle the P-51 and the Fw190 with a good map, thats it, theres your project off the ground with a loyal following bar none. Bundle dedicated server software on release and the lobbies will fill up overnight!!!! All this other stuff can come later, and personally, a Me-262, why? Wtf are we going to do with that, seriously? Rather the fighters and much later 2 heavy bombers ( much later) 5. The economics of this type of development escape me however from a loyal customer perspective that owns practically every DCS module, things are changing to much. Set a direction that is concrete, its all a bit iffy at the moment. People want to know that if they part with their money, something (even one airframe) will come out of it. The focus of all the feedback seems to be on stretch goals when nothing is really guaranteed on the initial goals. Please, this is me trying to add constructive criticism. I do not live on the forums everyday, so am not up to speed with what has or has not been said, consider this the opinion of someone that has pledged, is a bit confused and who's opinion is based on the email feedback from the Dev team+vid links only. I respect this dev team incredibly. Some of the best names in flight sim development assembled trying to get this to fly, and I really hope it all comes off.
  16. Same here David, suitably confused already.:dunno:
  17. 43
  18. Experience tool, let it notify you of drivers, acknowledge, and let it do the install. None of this manual uninstal instal nonsense anymore. Works for me.
  19. Never to young to die John (virtually speaking that is) Fly your best and let the virtual gods do rest! ;)
  20. Sweet I am in South Africa and can link up with the Euro time zone, innit to win it, I need to log some huey hours if nobody objects.
  21. ^^^^ correct^^^^
  22. How ye gettin on roiegat?
  23. Thx Its not a massive bother, just when recording videos it looks rather ugly.
  24. This is not something new, I have had it for a while now, just thought I would ask if anyone else gets this effect (lines, not smooth color) in the sky around sunrise/sunset. Thanks
  25. Yup IonicRipper gave sound advice. LOL, that was fun though:) It might be easier if you have a smaller landing approach angle to start, ie not coming in so high. You need to watch your speed/alt/vvi, that was waaay shaky hehe. Try from a long way out, visualize a point on the windscreen just above the console and line it up with your intended LZ. Gently fly the huey there slowly bleeding speed all the way by gently increasing your AoA and reducing collective. You can effecitvely control your approach speed and alt this way quite comfortably. Keep speed just above 30kts and vvi around 500. you need to manage that speed and be prepared to compensate with increased collective at the 20-25kts range Also sudden hard rudder inputs when you are in this zone will put you in flying brick mode. Easy way to practice is the one quick mission, just take off on one side of the runway, fly low alt low speed round the radar thingy on the left and land in the same spot. edit: take note of wind, always land into it where possible.
