  1. At this point in time, there is no mod that will make the 'Warthog' like a U2NXT Cougar, none, nothing nada, which in my opinion is epic for the Huey. I own both of these Hotas ('s,, s ?) The U2NXT was expensive but it transformed a 'nice looking and functional hotas' to a nice looking and very nice responding one. The stock Cougar gimbles are poor, really poor. The U2NXT for the Cougar gives you perfect feel. The Hog, and I said it when I bought it, has the irritating indent off center that requires that little bit of extra force to move it, which for flying the Huey, sucks. The Hog for the A-10 is great, (plug and play and all) and the amount of precision required during normal flight is not to the level required of the Huey. You can control a U2NXT Cougar with 1 or 2 fingers absolutely precisely, not the Hog. I'm busy talking to my mates in the engineering field to try and come up with something that we can insert into the Hog, with different springs, to even out the movement off the center.
  2. Gotcha, will give that a go. There is a definite left kick needed on the rudder initially when the power quits unless I am doing something else wrong, then yes, all right rudder from there on in.
  3. I sorta drop the collective/reset trim and apply left rudder all at once when the power fails. How you well you manage that dictates the attitude of the airframe. As I am in forward flight at a cruse speed the trim is nose down, if I don't reset it right away I struggle to keep it level (even with full back cyclic), so I suppose the nose does tend to drop.
  4. I'd be chuffed if I could land like this under normal power 50% of the time. Thought I was toast but ended up ok.
  5.
  6. Speechless a little, but thanks for that. You have a way with words. Its seems kinda hollow, but +1rep incoming, for your Pops.
  7. A short story with maybe some relevance. I was landing at a FARP the other day (virtually speaking) with a shot out attitude and speed instruments. On short finals it was all good, the minute I got close to touchdown I instinctively looked at the attitude indicator which was frozen in a pitch down position. Without even thinking, and considering the actual attitude of the helicopter, I disregarded what I was seeing outside and I moved the cyclic back and ended up with a high pitch attitude almost knocking the tail rotor on the ground. Totally screwed up my landing. It reminds me of a comment I once saw on an aviation forum, where people were asking experienced aviators what value there is in simming when it comes to real flying or doing PPL's/CPL's. Most all of the experienced aviators said that one of the traits of those that come from a background that involves simming is they tended to spend more time (to much) head down looking at the instruments and not looking out the window. :) I also use your current logic, with mere glances at the instruments only when required. I also figure if it feels right, all the other stuff will come together on its own, with minor corrections required.
  8. Well after stumbling across THIS post of yours my little speed wobble/panic attack seems to be completely unwarranted :D Very interesting comments in there, thanks for your input.
  9. Please please please don't dumb it down, adjust sure, but don't make it into something that requires an up and down arrow key so to speak to take off and land (exaggeration, but just trying to make a point) :)
  10. I'm sure that will come mate once things settle down a little for Belsimtek team. The Huey has only been out a very short time. I would expect they are focusing on the stability, the community input and everything they can at this early stage to develop a strategy and list of priorities moving forward. One thing that can be said is that their interaction with the community on this forum has really been top class, not trying to blow smoke here, but it has been, and based on that I am sure we will receive detailed feedback on a fairly regular basis in a formalized way moving forward. For now lets keep the feedback coming, and enjoy our shiny new choppers.
  11. :megalol: With you on that one :joystick: ,,, aaargghHHH :D Its gets better all of a sudden rather quickly though, got that one taped now.
  12. Nice! Yeah its been a fantastic learning experience and I am still enjoying the challenge. I have spent 99% of the time just on take-offs/hover/circuit/landings. Been to the shooting range once or twice for kicks, and flew wess's quick mission and the first campaign mission. My controlled flight has stabilized considerably, not nearly as much yawing or pendulum type effect. Getting pretty good at hovering and air taxiíng myself all over the airport for kicks, and following anything else that is taxi'ing so I have a moving target to manage my control a bit better. Take-offs are fine. Landing still need more work but do-able, just can't hit the bullseye all the time. At the beginning landing was like signing a death warrant :) Much easier to land it on the run with a bit of a slide. Yeah but great fun
  13. See post 5 in this thread, it seemed to work for someone yesterday in the same situation as you. till the files are updated on the dcs site. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105706
  14. Yup
  15. As someone on the forum said that his instructor told him, 'Ride the Rumble'.
  16. Boon, try run the updater from the start menu. Start /programs eagle Dynamics/DCS world/Run DCS updater
  17. They just supplied a patch today that moved it to 11855, looks like the files on the DCS site have not been updated yet :( edit, see here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1747361#post1747361
  18. Not sure, I had a number of warnings, all with an 'acknowledge' or dispute button next to them listing the tracks. Seemed automated. Then a lengthy read about if you dispute and they think otherwise your account is toast, all very draconian. To late now, its deleted, but lets not derail your thread.
  19. Yoyo, in the mission editor i think its under mission options , you can remove labels. I changed a number of settings there including unticking labels.
  20. Just a warning, youtube just had a frothy about that video I posted with all sorts of flags and copyright claims about the music. Gonna delete it.
  21. How long can you sustain a 30degree pitch at 60kts? I guess from recommended height of 300ft not very far before you bleed speed badly. My mind is working overtime now, and I am at work and can't test this lol.
  22. Cool midnight, we must get together and fly this thing man.
  23. Hi Anyone know where to find this in the files. I would like to know if its possible to edit this to make it much finer, thinner/finer circle lines.
  24. Lol, thx bud. Edit that mission to a 2 ship then we can go and teach Charlie some manners on your server :)
