Rain, but but but, it's a desert!

Hi I expect there will only be a single flight model as such, as there should not be a need to have a separate one for the 'slick' version of the UH1. The current flight model takes loadouts, temperatures and weight into account already, which I expect will be the main difference between the gunship and the slick. Theres lots coming for the slick version in time, sling loads and stuff, so its all going to be very intersting. Loving the sim.

That one vid, autorotate? Really? seems the chopper comes in way to fast and hits hard, after impact the turbine is still spinning for the A-team?

Video showing my problem: user missions not ploading
Vlerkies replied to Aravon17's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Not an identical problem but similar, maybe the last post in there is useful/ or not http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?p=1688920&langid=1 I would just backup my saved games folder and config stuff, unistal/delete all remains and try again from scratch and see if the problem still exists with a complete fresh instal. Its not the Huey as such, its the whole sim it seems. -

Dunno man, just a tip if you do re-instal. De-Activate your module/s first so you don't waste an activation when you instal again. Edit: I see from your vid you only have bought the Huey module, can you change say one of the Su-25T default missions in the editor or is it Huey specific. -

Cannot open file for writing looks like a file/folder/user permission issue, but I am not a windows guru. Right click on your DCS shortcut and goto propeties/security tab. Alternatively locate the .exe files in your instal folder. Have a look at the DCS.exe, launcher.exe and dcs_updater.exe in the same way. My security permissions are shown in the attachment (the ticks) and are the same for each of them. Also worth checking is the .mis files themselves, Compare a mission that works to one that doesnt (permission ticks) -

This is crazy man. This begs the question as to what is different between the user mission files and the ones in the sim that you can run? Permissions/read/write? As a matter of interest can you create your own mission, or take one of the working missions and make some change to it, maybe just time or loadout, save it and open it? Have you considered a second instal on another drive or a complete uninstal and try again. Sometimes its the less painful route. -
ENO, irrespective of what TiR renders at, set vsynch on in the sim = no more tearing. In the graphics.lua file set max fps to 60, I think this kinda eases the overall load.

:) You think thats wacko, around our neck of the woods the Civil Aviation Authority has no threatened that if witches fly above 150m on their brooms there will be trouble. http://www.news24.com/Africa/News/Swazi-broomstick-flying-witches-to-fly-low-20130515 :megalol:

Ahh ok cool, my mistake. Next time it happens lets see the track. Can't say I have experienced this type of effect myself but then again its rumbling so much I may just not be noticing it.

Nubbit gave a nice explanation there. When you are coming in to land, and have your rate of decent under control as well you a gradual reduction in speed, you will find that you reach a threshold where all of a sudden your rate of decent increases dramatically (as per Nubbits explanation). Try it at a few hundred feet above the ground so you have time to recover. If you don't catch this you are doomed :) The trick is to anticipate this transition and manage it with collective and slight rudder. What works for me is watching the airspeed. When it is decreasing gradually things start to rattle and roll around 30kts, and as you hit about 20kts she will fly like a a concrete block if you have not adjusted the collective accordingly. So anticipate the drop or loss of lift as your enter the transition, makes life easier and manage it with the collective.
-
Certainly much more controllable on the hover. I find take off you can simply pull the collective rather aggressively to lift off, and then just a little touch off left rudder to keep pointing where you want to is all that is required now. Seems like very little finesse in it. Landings are a breeze, building top hopping is almost effortless in comparison to the last build. I am not a real life pilot so can't comment on how real it is, and the folks that have been providing input to Belsimtek, and Belsimtek themselves have thousands of hours of RL flight time between them. If this is how it is then cool. Edit: maybe I'm imagining it (placebo effect) but I'm sorta chewing it down reluctantly though, don't shoot me, this is still my favourite sim ever, just my opinion.

Thx ericoh, that does look nice man. Never been much into modding files but that one certainly looks worth it from the image.

Also about to call it a night now this, haha. Zombie mode at work tomorrow for sure.

Sound delays, That is actually modeled into DCS I think. I have a clip somewhere where I took some ground footage of cluster bomb runs at varying distances to get a nice angle, and got a distinct visual / audio delay on the footage. I was quite impressed, maybe it was just a vid enconding timing issue, but I doubt it.

Nice one  been waiting for someone to do something like this. Good job.

Nice balanced review.

Yeah. I agree, heaven forbid Tailstrike actually gets inside and finds out the gunners don't fire when ordered to, the co-pilot has his hands on the controls at all times, amongst other 'beta' things.
-
Sure man, with you on that. I bought the hog hotas to fly the the A-10. I would never of done it had my microswitch on the Cougar (radar slew) not decided to call it a day around the same time the A-10 was released on Beta. So I bought the Hog, as well as replacement parts for the modded Cougar at the same time. Really stoked with the Hog Hotas and the A-10, its pretty seamless. No complaints. Now, a year or so down the line, I finally replaced the Microswitch in the Cougar as I have traded it out for some headsets with another user on these forums. After fixing them and doing a few tests with some of the DCS modules I'm kinda miffed that I am parting with this modded Hotas, in its modded form its epic, really smooth man.
