  1. me thinks... we're gonna get banned if this line of talk continues!:P you guys know how to get a man off topic! I'm usually so serious! Flyby out
  2. ewe! ewe!! get it? "ewe"? :megalol: black sheep deep penetration, eh? trying that with a shark, eh? might catch something like small cox if you're not careful.!:D
  3. my pleasure! I look forward to trying a deep penetration coop, Highwayman. Feel free to be the first to make such a coop. I know I'll be trying to make some missions too. We'll have a blast! All will be welcome, of course! Flyby
  4. thanks for the reply, GGT But what would you have in mind as "a little surpise" for straying off course? Ha! Imagine accidentally overflying a sam site, or an unreported enemy airfield! Maybe even a manpads!:D Perhaps power lines? It could be anything that goes " bump in the night". Nice thinking! Flyby out
  5. well alright!!! Thanks Wags for the quick reply. The idea of such a mission has for me the appeal of a desperate situation. Success would be a real high, especially with controlling an AI flight, handing off targets, and such. Cooping such a mission might require the most hardcore of the online breed. But speaking of AI, I suppose it's possible to have some AI Sharks to serve as escorts for the attack waypoint? thanks again! Flyby out PS: hey GGT, if I fly NOE, and borrow a radar detector (ala an F14 pilot who did it) I might have a shot at mission success. But that's the fun of a rough mission in the sim world. Odd the BS has not radar warning. Is that really true?
  6. I've swiped the drool away from my mouth (read ED's latest update) long enough to focus on another Flyby-random-thought. So now I'm curious about making deep penetration missions for Black Shark. Maybe go after a fuel or ammo dump, or comm center. I think I'd have to set up a few farps, but is it likely to set up a clandestine farp in enemy territory in Black Shark world? If it's a long-distance strike (for a Black Shark) could the last farp be designated as a fuel-and-weapons farp, flying slick until I reach that farp? Can external fuel tanks be added to the BS until it reached that weapons farp, and is that capability to change loadouts within the mission modelled in the sim? For an early morning strike at said targets, is the pilot's night vision goggles up to the task of getting to that last farp in time to get the weapons loadout, then hit the target at dawn? I can see it now. A mission lasting 6 hours with refueling, and not loading weapons until that last farp. This may not be suitable for coop play. Just thinking out load before the meds kick in. 7. GGT, very interesting pov hey GGT, does this mean that the Black Shark won't encounter any radar guided sams in the sim? BTW, isn't the the time frame for the BS in the early nineties like LOMAC? Flyby out
  8. ya gotta love this website I hope DCS sells a billion copies of Black Shark. Well maybe I should be a little selfish and lower that number by a few mil. Don't want to let the riff-raff in on this gem.;) What I mean to say is thank you DCS for your efforts in keeping us in the loop. Naturally I hope your efforts pay off! Flyby out
  9. thanks Talon But isn't Black Shark using basically the same grahic engine, exept updated to DX9? I'll need to do a bit more checking on that point. thanks for chiming in.;) Flyby out update: I just checked and it was recently posted that BS will not support SLI.
  10. I really enjoyed watching your video. Thanks for your hard work, and likewise for sharing it. Flyby out
  11. an intersting subject, SLI Hi Guys. I'm trying to make a decision on whether or not to build a system where I can go SLI in the future, but I've read where the results are not worth the investment. Yet in this thread Slayer gets 22-30 fps while Gozr gets 120+fps (both while flying LOMAC, I assume). I don't get it. I intend to add Black Shark, KOTS, and SoW_BoB to my title shelf but I don't know if I should invest in SLi or even Crossfire if the results don't warrant the investment. Somebody spread some knowledge, please.:helpsmilie: thanks! Flyby out ps here's an intersting tech article on SLi v Crossifire http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/391/1
  12. with regard to the Grahics engine I am including a link to a "conclusion" to a test of video cards from over at HardOCP. It relates to my continuing search for the right system upgrade. Will the DCS Black Shark benefit more from memory capacity and bandwidth, or from faster shader performance. I know it's basically an older engine, but that will change in future iterations, iirc. I'd like to build a system that I can expand into (either SLi or Crossfire). Any ideas? Here's the link: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQ4OSw5LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA== Flyby out ps hope you enjoy the read.
  13. great articles! I actually read them over at SimHq the other day. I like your video too. I keep putting off buying a new system. Too much information to process, and I'm trying to divine what the specs will be for KOTS and SoW-BoB. For instance, will they run better under pci-e2.0? makes my head spin. But all and still, i really like reading about your build exploits. Nicely done! Flyby out
  14. sorry, no sister Sorry old man, She has no sister. Rumor has it that she had a twin but strangled her while in the womb!:music_whistling:I don't need a "detox", as you put it. I'm already ****ing my pants whenever she comes near me with that thing! :helpsmilie: Flyby out
  15. Leafer! (I know that name has hidden meaning) the fight of the year that no one saw was brutal! That battle went back and forth as each man would run out of steam while the other surged with momentum. Both took turns getting the snot knocked out of them until the fight was stopped. I reminds me that sometimes taller fighters fight short, and let the shorter fighter get in and exchange blows. I know those were some tired legs, as movement died off in the latter rounds. A gutsy performance on both parts. Everyone got their money's worth. As for my new look, the wife keeps me bound up like that for what she says is my own protection! :D She still hasn't explained why the cattle prod is necessary.:music_whistling: Flyby out
  16. S~ Leafer, great vid...hmmm... what video?:music_whistling: Oh! It's the new stealth video compression format! I almost see it!:D j/k, but I think you forgot the link. Fly
  17. tell me it ain't so! thanks Highwayman, now ya got me worried. it's bad enough the wife has control of EVERYTHING now, and keeps my manly member in the freezer. now, if I show a little passion for Black Shark I doubt I'll find a judge that would even let me keep my little piddle-pouch! Flyby ouch err.. I mean out
  18. Hmmm...Roy Jones Jr against Calzaghe. Maybe he'll show that he shudda stayed retired too? Boxers are mostly like that. They stay too long and go out being beaten by younger, hungrier talent. On the other hand, he still retains some of his blazing speed, and he did give Hopkins a boxing lesson during the jurrasic period. Flyby out
  19. Calzaghe by decision! I saw the fight last night. Calzahge won by split decision, but actually it should have been unanimous. Hopkins turned old in front of my eyes. He even faked being in great pain from one light low blow (where he was pulling Joe's head down) and a phantom low blow. He was making excuses, if you ask me. Also he held so much I thought he'd found a new dance partner. I don't see how he can NOT be permanently retired now. Calzahge was the man last night. Hopkins is going on a special diet of humble-pie now. Flyby out
  20. I like it! :D never heard that one before! also Maybe the Black Shark could be renamed the "Home Wrecker" :smartass:
  21. this sim looks like trouble to me Anyone can see right away from this nav video that the DCS Black Shark is uniquely placed to break up relationships, marriages, loss of gainful employment, and long-time friendships of whomever submits to it's dark power. Dammit Wags! I've got 33 years on the line here!:helpsmilie: Can hardly wait for the next producers' notes. Again, kudos to DCS for working with the Sim-mod people to enhance the world of Black Shark. Very immersive. Flyby out
  22. glad to help NP Fred, we're a helpful bunch here (well, I can't speak for those other guys, but I'm grand :megalol:) Flyby out
  23. About Cougar mods, so true Longbow. Some are seriously expensive. Kinda like putting money into a new computer ($$$) to play the latest sims *smoothly*.:P Flyby
  24. whoa! slow down there! No rush Fred, take your time. ask around a bit more. The Cougar is quite "manly" in a way. Strong springs and all that, plus the really great Foxy programming software. But like I said earlier, the internals are prone to wear (gimbals), and axis pots will spike on you, indicating the need to be cleaned or replaced. I've replaced several axis pots, but it's fairly easy to do. As for the gimbals, they are easy-wear metal so keep them greased, otherwise expect metal shavings inside, plus a wobbly joystick on-center. Still I recommend the Cougar as it feels so right. Some guys invest in mods for the Cougar, including Hall sensors (no more spiking axis pots), and even custom electronic force application that eliminates joystick play, and emulates the real F16 stick with almost no movement of the joystick. Scan those forums and you'll see plenty about what's available, what goes wrong and why guys keep buying the Cougar. I can't speak for other sticks, but I'm sure pleanty of guys here can. Get more info. Flyby out
