  1. I've seen screenshots showing the issue. It looked even worse during my flight. Sometimes the only lights at 5000 ft almost overflying Las Vegas was the crescent of the Las Vegas Motorway or some other sports object. I'm not going to waste my time splitting a hair over this. Worse or same - the night city lights in this map are broken.
  2. EDIT: Initially I thought it was some sort of a bug introduced in late 2024, but no. It's years old. https://www.reddit.com/r/DCSExposed/comments/lngqnc/nevada_night_lighting_update/ I don't intend to do night flying but if I did even with 10% of intended time frankly I'd just contact ED support for a money-back. This isn't 'lighting outdated because the map is outdated.' The night lighting is outright broken.
  3. What are PeeGee lights and why is the issue even worse now?
  4. If that's the case, then NTTR is literally unusable for night time flying. At visibility range 'Very High' city lights not visible when overflying the city?! What the hell?! Just look at it. Clear weather and my flight turned into a pitch-black affair.
  5. You are right, no more MSAA talk here, the MSAA bug thread is linked above.
  6. It took me some 60 seconds to find a bloke on YT for whom MSAA doesn't work
  7. Yes, I can confirm, no issue for you, issue for tens of others
  8. It doesn't matter. For many, it doesn't work. Including me. I watch more YT than actually play DCS and I can see the shimmering all over youtube. It's so bad it's visible in twice-recompressed videos. So that's that.
  9. The next DLSS is going to be just a handful of LSD we take and then we imagine the game and nVidia taps themselves on the back. The term AI smear anti-aliasing is already being popularized. The only AI technology I accept is DLAA. And it still has ghosting, as visible on indicator needles.
  10. One crossed out, C-130 anyone? I very rarely see F-4 and F-16 in instant action missions. Still, a curious case why do I see F-16 from lock on even with the missions created with the generator. And that lock on F-4 blew me away, knowing that it was a fresh F-5E remastered IA cold start mission in Marianas! Su-17 I don't mind as we don't have a HQ model in DCS. But F-16 and F-4?!
  11. I'm going to report in a separate thread as it pertains mostly to Western aircraft.
  12. That's bad. Especially that ED insists on using lock on times models for aircraft that already have high fidelity versions. Just the other day I saw the following old models while flyjng F-5E: F-4 in Marianas cold start F-16 in NTTR cold start
  13. From idyl to horror during a late morning flight on NTTR - one of the most chilling moments I've experienced in DCS. Some formation attempts, some aerobatics and then... I'm completely new to NTTR and the city lights are clearly bugged (not visible) but I decided to see how it's going to unfold.
  14. As an F-5E remaster user I concur The phoenix of 2024!
  15. There is no way I could talk ED out of glass cockpit monstrosities on my own so at least I appreciate the work on THE CORE: 1. The fog. This is big. I didn't realize at first. What made me a believer? I recently bought Nevada map and did a few flights. Man. This map is in bad shape. But even on Nevada that fog/haze made it all look so realisitc at times. 2. The Iraq map. This is not just another patch of sand. I'm still going to avoid desert maps but on this one you can clearly see some core work goodies. It seems like ED has started working on terrain material rendering so, for example, we will no longer see a sea of green plastic where a green mooshy field should be. 3. The Phantom. Again, the core. Well, according to my own categorization. We can clearly see a greater emphasis is put on the in-cockpit immersion by what has been demonstrated with the F-5E remaster. Cockpit audio and vibrations of actual parts in the cockpit, the alive pilot model (it literally has a breathing animation loop) and others. The pace is slow but steady. The only thing I wish for 2025 is for ED to never flarify* the graphics engine. The tree performance hit and the F-5E model (?) performance hit cases being under high-priority investigation can be read as sign of ED not wanting that to happen, fortunately. Edit: And yes, I don't see the module-release crowd being satisfied with the new announcement video either. Just another argument for ED to focus on the core *DCS flarification - unacceptable performance drops due to poor implementation of a single graphical effect as seen in early DCS / late lock on years with flare trails
  16. I'm asking about the ability to roll back, without getting into the should/shouldn't. This guide doesn't specify how to do it, despite what the poster on reddit claimed https://forum.dcs.world/topic/134493-the-dcs-updater-launcher-gui-utility-version-20-2023 But this one does! https://flyandwire.com/2020/04/22/dcs-reverting-to-a-previous-version/
  17. Rgr that. But please remember what I said before - you can see that reflection all over other peoples' videos on youtube.
  18. Modless track - a track recorded by a player using a DCS instance with all mods disabled.
  19. I don't have to do it because I skipped the update but can't DCS updates be rolled back by the user?
  20. Or rather so the devs start closing long-standing graphical issues. Shimmering shadows on external models, shimmering of other type, sky color banding, lighting inconsistencies. Before Vulkan gets at least "hooked in" I don't blame ED for keeping those issues at a low priority.
  21. All three are true V - I believe you - descriptions are not enough - modless tracks are needed
  22. Options.lua and dcs.log included. https://1drv.ms/f/c/66cf2646234394fc/Eqal9AuktJVIg_pyQzYN6fQB6ekDptSpUFZ2ntBTzG0Bkg?e=Av2LjA Edit: added nVcpl settings as well.
  23. Please remove the "correct as-is" tag from this report. The unlit version looks like a glass and the lit version doesn't look like anything from the physical world. This is not a game-breaking bug, sure, but it isn't a correct look either.
