  1. I'm certainly hoping some of the devs are reading this!
  2. Guys, I'm entitled to an opinion and thats my opinion. Its great that the C101 devs have actually developed and released something for DCS but I still stand by my opinion.
  3. Thanks for the screenies - those are awesome pics. I chuckled a little when I saw the close formation takeoff....imagine if the lead bird had an RTO or EFATO :music_whistling: I've flown organised missions in IL2 but only up to about 10 bombers. Even then it looked/felt beautiful (for about the 5 secs I could spare...I was sweating trying to keep formation in a fully loaded B17). This is what I'm hoping we can get in DCS WW2. Its really the bombers that deal out destruction and are usually the focus of a lot of online missions (ie. escorting, attacking, etc). A DCS WW2 withOUT a bomber (medium atleast) would get boring after a while I reckon.
  4. Mate the question was roughly: "What aircraft could you unwish?". Thats my unwish. The C101 (for example) has taken what, 1-2 years to develop? (I'm guessing). Now that thats released, they have to start from scratch. The C101 is going to be a hangar maiden as its practically useless on the modern battlefield. Hey, thats the choice of the devs....however from my perspective (customer), I would've preferred they work on something else. Hey, if Leatherneck can bang out a Mig21 first go.....(so you can't say its not possible).
  5. lol I don't get the whole debate on fuel. Thats not going to help you much with a 109 or 190 on your tail.
  6. even the Tupolev TB-3 :megalol: again back in my IL2 days, everyone in my squad used to get online, load up into 2-3 TB3s and just go for it...everyone banging away with their peashooters whilst the TB3s were flying next to each other! lol...absolutely loads of fun before it all came crashing down. (whilst we're at it, another 'game' was tag...where whoever was 'it' would put on smoke and was allowed to shoot at everyone else....everyone else could only shoot at whoever was 'it')
  7. in that case, sign me up as well! lol
  8. is that with or without the double-broomstick-rear guns-mod-upgrade
  9. Totally agree. Back in my IL2 squad days, I flew bombers 80% of the time (20% in Tempests :joystick:). There's a special feeling you get when you're holding formation on your wingman and knowing someone's holding formation on you. You get a little worried when enemy fighters come ripping in and you lose a wingman or two. Its an even better feeling when you drop your bombs once your leader does and get the 'target destroyed' flashed onscreen. Sure its not 'sexy' like flying a Spit IX or P51D but its an awesome experience all the same. Thats why I prefer the heavy fighters or light attack eg. Beaufighter, Mossie, etc because you have a crap load of firepower.
  10. Unwish List? C101 Mi-8 DCS: Hawk There are soooo many awesome fighter jets/attack helicopters that could/should be developed. Thats my $0.02.
  11. Where can I find P47 tactics? Given the weight, etc of the a/c, I'm sure there were specific tactics that the Jug pilots used - would be good to get some info upfront.
  12. that would make sense if they did two a/c that operated in the same theatre (I know the Hellcat operated against the Luftwaffe through the Fleet Air Arm, etc but you know what I mean).
  13. Eh, didn't they call it a Mig 31? (you were in a 4G negative dive with a Mig 31). I'm sure of it but I could be wrong. Funny enough, in the movie (in that b/s 'classroom' hangar scene), they DO actually say 'we'll be using F5s and A4s as mig simulators' or something. I LOL'ed at that because you only ever see the A4s @ Miramar but the Black F5s during 'combat'....and they DID say it!! ;)
  14. Would LOVE to get one of those. One important a/c thats missing from that lot is the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, which was the primary fighter bomber for the USAF in Vietnam (over North Vietnam anyway).
  15. I'm really looking forward to this...esp if its a pre June '44 type scenario ie. 1. Rhubarb missions (low level, bad weather fighter sweeps) 2. Normal fighter sweeps over the Calais area 3. tactical bomber missions against all sorts of stuff 4. night fighter missions 5. anti shipping missions (although this would probably be limited I'm assuming If we got a Medium (any medium), this is what I'd be spending 90% of my time flying.
  16. Any know re the Normandy map whether it will include SE England? or is it meant to be sort of post June '44 when the allies were using french airfields for fighters?
  17. The_Pharoah

    Bombers

Would this equally apply to say multi crew attack helicopters? (eg. Apache/Cobra/Tiger/etc)
  18. btw, will the F-14 have the LANTIRN pod for precision guided munitions?
  19. lol as a night bomber you mean? That thing couldn't defend itself against anything, much less front line Luftwaffe fighters.
  20. check this out:
  21. From my old IL2 days, whenever you had an online server going...you always needed goals/missions which were primarily bombing missions - the fighters then 'did their part' in either flying escort or intercept. In order to do that however, you will need atleast a medium bomber. Whilst I'd love the JU88, a normandy map would involve primarily allies attacking german airfields / marshalling yards / installations / traffic / etc rather than the other way around so I'd still vote for an allied medium bomber or heavy fighter initially. After that, I'd love to get my grubby mitts on a JU88 especially due to its multi role capability
  22. Yeah I know but they sort of fit into that category ie. medium bomber / heavy fighter. The B26 classified as a medium bomber carried something like 2,500lbs of bombs whereas the Mossie carried up to 4,000lbs of bombs! The reason I included the Mossie/A20/Beau/etc is to provide some sort of gun platform rather than just a pure bomber so that you could do further stuff like: 1. anti shipping strikes 2. normal bombing 3. night fighter A good example is the B25G/H with either lotsa .50 cals or cannon. It just gives you the ability to use the one aircraft on multiple mission types as compared to say the heavy bomber like the B24/B17/etc
  23. Hi guys For the future of DCS WW2, we will definitely need medium bombers. So my question is, what medium bomber should we get first? ie. 1. DeHavilland Mosquito 2. B25 Mitchell 3. A20 Havoc 4. B26 Marauder 5. Bristol Beaufighter 6. HE-111 7. JU-88 Obviously I'm focusing mainly on the allied side however most of the above (save for probably the Beaufighter) served on the Western Front so would fit in with the Normandy map.
  24. damn...it doesn't matter how many a/c DCS puts up for sale....I still can't face going back to the same ugly map that we've been using for years. Maybe when NTTR comes out.
