  1. so corner speed meaning the minimum when turning? makes sense to keep your speed up, but your turning radius just balloons.
  2. Hi guys I've always been an A2G kinda guy but with this beauty that is the M2000C, I've decided to get into ACM. Currently I'm ok with employing the 530D, Magic and cannon however my BIGGEST problem when fighting other jets is I keep losing sight of the enemy...yeah I know, cardinal rule. Part of this issue is my track IR (when I look up too much it'll lose tracking) but also because once the enemy jet goes low, I lose it in the clutter. I've tried using my radar even down to 5kms but it never seems to pick up anything close (even when directly in front of me). I thought I could use the RWR but it's not exactly accurate enough. So, what do I do?
  3. Aha - I have it!! Everyone knows we're in need of a good bomber, so why not the B47E Stratojet? The cockpit is like a jet anyway instead of a standard two pilot cockpit, its old and probably declassified, and this puppy can carry: Guns: 2× 20 mm (0.787 in) M24A1 autocannons in a remote controlled tail turret with AN/APG-39 Gun-laying radar[50] Bombs: 25,000 lb (11,000 kg) of ordnance, including: 2 × Mk15 nuclear bombs (3.8 megaton yield each), or 1 × B41 nuclear bomb (25 megaton yield), or 1 × B53 nuclear bomb (9 megaton yield), or 28 × 500 lb (227 kg) conventional bombs :P

    Air refueling

I wanted to try this on the 104th server but I couldn't figure out how to tune the TACAN or UHF radios. I'm a newbie at this so I'm looking for some help. eg. on the 104th server, the Mirage tanker was on channel 252 or something - how and where do I tune this? is there a tutorial on how to do this for the Mirage?
  6. hows about a vid on how to do AAR with the M2000C?
  7. agreed. The FA/18 can definitely do SEAD work (Growler model or something?). I'd still love to see an F-16 though - its in service with so many air forces in the world today.
  8. Bit late but I think we'd be limited to 70s-80s a/c anyway due to secrecy right? Having said that, PLEASE RAZBAM think of something that complements the current list of a/c before you decide to develop another one. Having said that, there's a few a/c I've listed below which I'd love to see which would complement the current a/c lists: WW2 - A6M Zero - B25 - Beaufighter - F4U Corsair (works for Korean War as well) Korea - F4U Corsair (as above) - Douglas B26 - Lockheed F-80C Shooting Star Vietnam - F4 Phantom II - A4 Skyhawk - A6 Intruder - F105 (esp this bird...does A2G and SEAD) Gulf War I - F111 Aardvark - SEPECAT Jaguar (RAF, France) - F16 (yes please - I reckon this would have the most success esp due to BMS) - F15E - Tornado - F117 (probably too Top Secret) - FA/18 (being done by ED) I know there's a lot of suggestions and a/c to choose from however my main suggestion is that it COMPLEMENTS what we have, and not establishes a new 'vein' so to speak. However if I had one choice, it would be a General Dynamics F-16 Falcon. This bird does: - A2A - A2G - SEAD (we need a dedicated SEAD a/c to complement current a/c)
  9. +1 That bird is just beautiful :)
  10. I vote for the F-16. Its in use in many air forces in the world today and has seen extensive combat in Iraq/Afghanistan/Balkans/Israel/Libya/Egypt/Syria/etc. It can do A2A/A2G/SEAD. To top it all off...it is a VERY sexy airplane. 'nuff said.
  11. I'd LOVE to get the F4 Phantom but honestly, I prefer flying alone ie a single seat fighter rather than a dual. I would've preferred we vote for an F105 Thunderchief or something - yeah I know its not exactly a fighter but it'll carry a mean bomb load (plus do SEAD work). Just the logistics of trying to get someone to fly backseat...unless it can be done with an AI that will call out radar locks, etc...then I'll definitely be interested.
  12. oh crap really? DOH! let me go back and check my configs (been a while).
  13. Help!! I've mapped and remapped these HOTAS buttons to my X55. If I press them on my X55, they will move ingame and yet I can't swap within the DMS screens or make anything SOI. Any suggestions? Everything else seems to work.
  14. One thing I wish was available (esp now that we have just the one instance of DCSW instead of two) is to be able to remap your controls whilst on a MP server. I always find mapping the A10C the hardest because of the number of functions that need to be mapped, however there's nothing worse than jumping on a MP server, starting up (4 mins) then figuring out you've missed something! NOOOOO. Is it just me or can you not create quick missions in 2.0?
  15. When I was flying my Huey around Las Vegas last night all I kept saying to myself was 'man this is sooo much better than FSX....I have traffic running and I'm not flying a slideshow!'. The NTTR looks beautiful, I agree. The launch I have to say was a farce and I'm hoping ED learn from this - BIG thank you to the guys who went out of their way to provide torrents. Now to remap everything in DCS!
  16. Nah I'm still a huey fan. I like the Mi-8 but she's too bulky and unmaneuverable to use on the modern battlefield, even with air superiority. It would be nice if we had MP missions which actually utilised the Mi-8 for what its good at ie. cargo/troop transport. Unfortunately a lot of my time with DCS is spent using it like FSX ie. flying around looking at scenery and doing low level runs for the thrill of it.
  17. Don't forget, if you run out of ideas just watch 'Red Dawn' (the movie). That should give you enough ideas :)
  18. Sir, thats a leftover prop from a sci fi movie. There's nothing to see here. Men in black suits will be at your house in exactly 3...2...1....
  19. I also can't wait for a proper WW2 map and set of scenarios however ED need to ensure that: 1. the a/c they design are all within the same time period (eg. don't suddenly decide to develop a 1940 Spit Mk I to go up against 1944 FWs and MEs); and 2. they include multi engine bombers (B25, A26, Beau, Mossie, etc). It can't be all for fighter jocks.
  20. I would prefer they focus on medium bombers (I have a thread on this incl a poll and the popular choice is the B25) - theoretically easier to develop than a 4 engine bomber like the '17 or '24. The medium bombers were much more versatile eg. the B25, A26, Mosquito, Beaufighter, etc.
  21. Ok we will now have the FW190, ME109, P51D, Spitfire Mk IX and P47D. Is it now about time we have something with >1 engine? A B25 or Bristol Beaufighter or A26 would be awesome. The Normandy map wouldn't be much without having bombers to escort.
  22. No, not unbalanced. What you're NOT including in the above list are the AAA guns and SAMs that ringed the north. That is the great 'balancing item' if you will. The AAA/SAMs shot down more a/c than VNAF jets I think. Besides if we were to replicate a proper Vietnam War scenario, we'll need to replicate both sides to it ie. Route Pack I-VI (bombing missions in North Vietnam) vs ground support missions in South Vietnam. Don't know if any of you have read books on FACs but those guys had balls, flying O-1s, OV1s and OV10s to name a few. The O-1s were armed only with WP rockets. If we had a proper Vietnam map, you would definitely need FACs. This is where the dynamic campaign would come in, assuming its developed.
  23. Good to see healthy discussion re Vietnam scenarios. I'd certainly pay good money for a fully detailed Thud, esp with an SEA map. The A1 would also be awesome...kinda like a prop version of the A10C!! this is off wikipedia: Armament Guns: 4 × 20 mm (0.79 in) M2 cannon Other: Up to 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of ordnance on 15 external hardpoints including bombs, torpedoes, mine dispensers, unguided rockets, and gun pods. 4 x 20mm cannon...mmm....
  24. we REALLY need new maps/scenarios. Whilst a lot of you may like to fly a Huey or P51 or F86 in Georgia, I'd prefer to have a full Vietnam map that goes hand in hand with a dynamic campaign. If all we had was modern (or from the 80s onwards say) aircraft then fine. But c'mon, we need different maps and scenarios.
  25. I would love to see enhanced soldier movement, battles, combat, etc in DCS. My 'dream' would be to have a map which is a constant battlefield, say Iraq 2003 or Vietnam (my pref) and you'd be able to spawn in online, choose an a/c and/or airbase and be present with a myriad of mission types eg. - CAS (A10s, etc) - 'troops in distress' for A10s (so you have to interact with JTACs to save them, kinda what the A10s did in Afghanistan) - troop or cargo transport (helicopters) - armed recon, etc At the moment, whilst the environment/aircraft look great, the 'world' itself is just dead. Russian pilots flying missions against ISIS in Syria right now would probably fly to a city for a specific target but witness other battles going on (or even stumble upon ISIS tanks). Have this as an ongoing MP battle and suddenly everyone has a purpose. Whilst I love DCS, I'm not getting much of the CS part of it (yes I know there are scripted battles set up but I'm talking something bigger).
