  1. I'm getting this issue esp with the normandy map. It takes forever to log in and when i eventually get to the slot screen i get a timeout and the game crashes.
  2. Each and every time i try to join a normandy map online, i get a 'connection timed out' after like 5 mins of waiting...meaning I've got to do it 2-3 times. Sometimes i even get into the server but it still says 'connection timed out'..yet I can see the a/c select screen (but can't click on any). Anything I'm supposed to be doing differently?
  3. What ED should have done was build the Sikorsky UH60, which is used by both the Army (UH60) and Navy (SH60) and is a modern day helicopter instead of a Vietnam era huey which really has very little use in the current DCS World as it is. Yes i know we use it for slingloading, etc but exactly how many Vietnam era hueys do you see in current wide-spread service?
  4. I welcome (almost) any new a/c addition to DCS, however I'd echo your original thoughts by saying why build an SB3 when you can build an A6? :) Perfect for strike missions AND can do A2A refueling as well.
  5. Oh c'mon Wags....you HAVE to include an RAAF F/A-18C skin surely. We operate 54 A's, 15 B's and 24 F's. So whilst its not the C models, surely this should put us in the running!! :)
  6. lol c'mon...everyone is pining for historical accuracy and yet for a few years we've had MP servers with missions flown by A10s, F15s, P51Ds, F86s and Hueys!! eh? I think we can accept a little inaccuracy here and there esp when we're arguing about the branches on the tree instead of the trees in the forest (or the forest at all! if you get my analogy). F105, F5, A4, hopefully an F4 II vs the MIg 21BIS, Mig19. More importantly a map of Vietnam (north and south if possible) and the surrounding areas (gulf of tonkin, Cambodia, Laos, etc or parts of it like in the Normandy map)
  7. I have to say it felt awesome flying in a formation of Spit IXs approaching the coast of France, seeing the sun glistening off my wing and the ocean below. Unfortunately when i got within sight of the coast my fps dropped to zero (yes zero). It finally came back about 30 secs or so later just in time for me to see the english channel filling my cockpit as my Spit crashed into the sea.
  8. are the ships destroyable (is that even a word?) in Normandy by gunfire?
  9. TBH it would be awesome if ED decided to do a DCS: Vietnam but along the lines of FC3 ie. lower fidelity, not all cockpits being clickable, etc. That would definitely speed up development time you would think and includes something like: - Vietnam map - F4 Phantom II - F105 Thud - A6 Intruder vs - Mig 17 - Mig 19 - Mig 21 Quite a lot of players still use the FC3 a/c (F15s, Migs, SUs).
  10. Agreed. DCS is perfect to replicate the Vietnam air war....perfect. Problem is, we'll probably get everything for DCS Vietnam by 2035. My grandkids will get to play it.
  11. lol thats okay mate. the fact that its even on there is what I'm excited about. Thanks for confirming the model as well.
  12. Can't believe you guys didn't pick up on this: https://www.facebook.com/RazbamSims/photos/p.1342658872487414/1342658872487414/?type=3&theater Oh man...I've LONGED for an F105D. That brings my dream of DCS Vietnam closer to reality, what with the Mig 19 in development, and community-built A4s/F-100s. Definite Day 1 pre-order if it ever came to be.
  13. When are we going to get new/improved explosions? Is this on the cards for ED?
  14. Hi guys, I tried joining the 104th forum but your email verification process just isn't working. Anyway, is there a way for everyone to get access to the coordinates (lat/long, grid ref, etc) of shipping? I don't have the Viggen but I'd like to try to sink them with other jets (M2000c, A10, SU25, etc), however the coords seem to be hardcoded to the Viggen nav systems. Also, it would be great to encourage more of a combined arms approach with airstrikes ie. beefing up SAM sites at target locations therefore requiring the use of dedicated SEAD a/c such as the SU25T. A10s should NOT be sent up against SAM sites.
  15. well thats just ridiculous. ED, go jam your bonus $. Looks like I'll have to wait until the next sale to get this bird.
  16. Was looking to get the Viggen but OMG US$60? you guys kidding me? That aside, I thought I'd use my DCS bonus $...but I can't add it to reduce the price. Is it possible to use to buy the viggen?
  17. Here i am trying to purchase the Normandy bundle and I get this little message: "Your bonus account balance $10.00, You can use $0.00 to pay current order." WTF is the point of the bonus system when I can't even use it to purchase new modules?
  18. LNS, would you guys ever consider just focusing on one scenario like say Vietnam? DCS as it is is just a random collection of a/c on maps that don't necessarily make sense. What about if LNS embarked on a 'we are focusing on Vietnam' plan? eg. 1. Vietnam map (covering potentially North/South Vietnam, Laos, eastern Thailand?) and the gulf 2. Vietnam era a/c - A6, F4, F105, Mig 17, Mig 19, Mig 21 (you already have the 21 as a base) just for starters....
  19. I'm coming in late but whatever. I agree with the OP. DCS = Digital COMBAT Simulations. Most folks get enjoying from employing their a/c online (and offline) in combat situations. Exactly how is a T-2 Buckeye (besides being one of the ugliest a/c i've ever seen) going to fare against Migs and SAM sites? 'but its a sandbox'...yeah so is FSX. If you want the enjoyment of just flying for the pure enjoyment of flight (which is excellent), try out FSX. There are so many awesome combat aircraft that could and should be developed. I've argued for a long time the point of developing aircraft towards specific scenarios ie. - WW2 - Vietnam War - Korean War - Gulf War - Modern day conflict War, war, war...its assumed that by the time you get into the cockpit of an F-15C or A-10C, you're already passed the training stage and the need to fly trainers. We need proper balance, esp in online warfare. For so long we had online missions which included P-51Ds, Hueys and training a/c. Eh?
  20. Why not? I think we need a bit of 'steering' from ED. Whats the point of allowing 3rd party devs to create stuff willy nilly? eg. some trainers, a 1950s era a/c, etc etc. The problem with DCS right now is that its so friggin fragmented - you have a/c from WW2, Korea, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and all on two maps (Georgia, NTTR). DCS is a combat sim....would you have P51s and F86s going up against SA11s?
  21. lol yeah thats the sad part about this - the dev time is so friggin long. As the real 'keeper', ED could mandate to all current (and future) 3rd party devs that 'we will only focus on say DCS Vietnam' - then they'd have to comply. Hell, even an OV-1 or OV-10 to provide FAC would be awesome. However, if not Vietnam, what other scenarios? 1. WW2 (already being worked on but just Normandy) 2. 6 day war (Israel v Arab states) 3. Cold War scenario (say early/mid 80s) 4. Gulf War I and II (we already have some of these a/c)
  22. Good to see I'm not the only one! :P I love reading autobiographies esp from pilots who served in Vietnam. DCS is the perfect platform for this era. The Vietnam air war was modern but not BVR >100nm shoot downs. Imagine....we have a target set say near Hanoi. Taskings would be: 1. F-4 MIGCAP 2. F-105s Wild Weasel (SEAD) armed with Shrikes and CBUs 3. F-105s Attack armed with 500lb'ers 4. A6's coming in from the sea 5. Mig 17s/19s taking off to defend 6. SA2s defending the target or along the route. But yes, agree - ED needs to focus on completing a proper scenario and getting 3rd party devs to do the same. Many hands make light work right?
  23. Yeah I know I've posted it before however imagine this.....you fire up DCS, and jump on a MP server running DCS Vietnam which includes: 1. Map of South and North Vietnam including Thailand/Laos and the South China sea 2. You get to choose to fly for either the USAF (OV-10, OV-1, F100, F105, F4, F111, A1, CH53), USMC (A6, F4, A4) or USN (F4, A7, A4, A6...all off a Carrier in the gulf) or US Army (UH-1) 3. Flights include SEAD/Wild Weasel (F105), CAP (F4, A7), Attack (F100, F105, F4, F111, A6, A4, A1) or SAR (A1, CH53) 4. OR you could choose to fly for the VNAF (Mig 17, Mig 19, Mig 21); 5. OR you could choose to utilise Combined Arms and man SAM sites Hanoi had more AAA guns around it than any german city during WW2. Now, imagine the kind of missions, scenarios, battles you could have. All using the right equipment, in the right time period, and on the right map (no F15Cs with AMRAAM 120s or BF109s). @ED, this is how you should design it. Pick a time period and develop everything to do with that time period. Give us a fully developed scenario.
  24. Can the Viggen hold its own against enemy fighters like the SU27 and Mig 29?
