  1. I feel your frustrations, I've come across this on lots of occasion when trying to trying to kill stuff hidden under trees. I've hit infantry with the 30mm before and they have just shrugged it off. When the infantry shoot back they seem to also fire something a lot larger that 7.62 calibre out of their rifles based on the size of the tracers and the dust they kick up. The lack of splash damage is probably at the core of all this to be honest and i think its one of those DCS things that has been promised over and over to be fixed eventually but never seems to quite make it into any patches. With regards to the CCIP/CCRP thing I'm not sure what is going on there, the only thing I can suggest is try flipping the Baro switch to delta, but I'm not 100% sure this would even work as I think the height data comes from the internal data in the NAV/CDU and not the jet.
  2. What would be really cool would be to have a hanger you could visit from the options menu that housed all your modules and then being able to walk around them like in a museum, maybe as you walked up close to each of them you had the music kick in for each module
  3. Id love to see this as an option to.
  4. I had made the suggestion in a previous post to have the option to shift the hud up or down with a slider bar in the special option area, I know the hud/reticle for the ka50 can be adjusted up or down. It would make sense for it to work the same for the scorpion system. I think this is being looked into
  5. It gets worse when you have destroyed a target that is on fire, the whole area around the burning get completely washed out.
  6. I noticed this the other day thinking the same thing as you I looked through the manual to see if I could find anything on it but came up blank. What I found is that when you have it latched and fire the laser the L only flashes twice and then stops.
  7. That’s awesome!
  8. It would be really nice to be able to adjust the whole HUD up and down like you can with the KA50 so you can align it with the centre of your eyes. At the moment the HUD is slightly to high in the headset and it means I need to tilt my head a little further down than I naturally would to look at a target or point on the ground. This can be even harder as you turn your head further to the left or right past the 3/9 position. A simple special option with a slider to adjust position would be great
  9. Be nice to also have an option to hide the throttle too.
  10. Agree completely, but when you uncheck "hear like in helmet" in the sound options I would expect to hear something close to what this video shows as this is recorded right from the cockpit outside of the the helmet. Our DCS version doesn't sound as close to this, but it being EA I'm sure it will improve.
  11. Not sure if the AP would account for wind But did you have any weather settings in your mission?

    Dust effect

Agreed, I would also rather have a just a few leaves or grass whipped up on the caucuses map, the white smoke bomb effect is a little over kill for that map.

    Dust effect

This effect would probably not be missed if it was removed especially while transitioning across terrain. Hovering on the spot I’d expect it to happen as an a cumulative effective building the longer you stay in one place.
  14. As far as I know just ‘textures" are for cockpit texture resolution only and terrain textures control terrain only. As to what the terrain textures actually change is a bit of a mystery to me, I know from the Syrian map to keep the terrain textures on low for quite a good hike in performance for no noticeable loss in quality.
  15. And yet we have a civi version of the Huey that has some great non combat missions that are enjoyed by many people. I for one have no problem in having civilian planes in DCS as it’s a great platform for story driven missions, something that "other flight sims don’t seem to have".
  16. Well a few rain drops is not going to stop me from purchasing the Kiowa that’s for sure, and I have no problem with the devs or their attitude, unlike some of the forum members that frequent these threads.
  17. Just noticed that 28GB of my 32GB of memory is being used in multiplayer when on the Syria map... Bottom line is i think there are just too many lovely looking textures in the map that is hitting performance in ways that the other DCS maps don't do, I've slowly been scaling back options in an attempt to get this map working as smoothly as the others but when I saw just how much of my system memory is being used just for this map I know this is going to be an on going problem.... I also noticed that the used memory is not being dumped when you quit out of the map and you are sat in the DCS menu.. Stuff only ED can change i think.
  18. Never thought about turning it off to be honest. I'm not even sure if the cache is held in memory or if it is just temporary physical disk space set aside for use. I would say by your suggestion that it is memory based? good tip though i will try this and see if there is any effect. Thanks for the tip
  19. I Have done some more testing myself and I have since noticed that FXO content deleting in the save games folder only works for a short time usually around 10-20 minutes before I start to see the stutters re appear. I was concerned that it could have been linked to some of the DCS modules as performance can very depending on the type of module. To eliminate this I went into the editor and just started the map without any units or modules and I basically just panned around the map for 10 minutes using the mouse and noticed that I started to get stutters 6 minutes into my panning about. I think there is something going on here with memory or some issue with how the textures are working with DCS. Going back to the standard DCS maps I can immediately see the impact in performance the Syria map has on my system compared to the PG map or the caucuses. Hoping this problem can be solved as beautiful as this map is, its starting to come at a cost in performance that is outside the control of the user it seems.
  20. This is exactly what I am seeing, I have also noticed that if I load one of my missions and then change the time of day to either morning or late evening and reload into the same place I start to get stutters. The only way I have managed to avoid stuttering is before booting into DCS is to delete the FXO file. I have found that the time I spend in the map is not always the same amount of time before I start experiencing stuttering. I can load into a map and have issues right away and over an area like Incirlik (where I do all my stutter testing) and instantly have problems, at least when clearing out the FXO file I can at least experience the map for 30 mins or so before it starts to take a nose dive and the stutters start to kick in. I can probably get a little longer in the map if I fly over areas that are sparsely populated, unfortunately as I hit the costal areas that are heavily populated I will immediately start to see issues. I love the map but these teething issues are a complete tease at the moment.:joystick:
  21. The only way I can completely eradicate the stutters is if I clear out the FXO file every time I load DCS when using the Syria map.
  22. One of the things I have noticed is when you change either resolution (PD) in VR or you change a graphics setting that changes the quality of the textures you have to delete the FXO and metashader2 cache. A test I did was to sit with the F16 at Incirlik and go to the external view (F2) and pan out as far as you can and move your view point so you are inside the city or just above it and pan around while moving your head in VR, if you get horrible stuttering and ghosting then delete the above. the only setting I have come across that doesn't need to have the "delete" done is when messing with the MSAA, To be honest I'm not sure why there isn't a piece of code that automatically deletes the folder contents when you make a change to the GFX settings and DCS restarts. I have tried this with a number of settings mainly with PD when changed need to have the delete method otherwise you jump back in and you have terrible FPS again. hope this helps.
  23. :thumbup:Thanks guys
  24. What's the button box to the right side in the shape of the warthog throttle? I'm looking for something of similar shape to sit on the left just aft of my throttle
  25. Welcome jame, loved the video ;)
