I happen to agree that modern aircraft should take a priority. However, if a similar situation were to arise where a private contract produced a Sopwith Dolphin or an S.E. 5a then I would certainly enjoy the chance to purchase either. They would be awesome.

Unexpected benefit of MS Sculpt Wireless Keyboard
cichlidfan replied to hansangb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I love the noise as well. Currently, I have a Corsair K95 RGB hooked to my flightsim pit but I don't use that machine for anything else. My home office uses a Das Keyboard (don't recall which model) while my den game/surfing machine uses a Logitech G910. As long as it works for you is all that matters. -
Considering that tracks only record a data stream of control inputs, I sincerely doubt that modern machines would see any significant improvement, in end user performance, if it were disabled. If you think people are using tracks to cheat, which is an entirely different matter, that has been addressed in other threads.

$60 would be overpriced for such a module and presuming 63k in sales, at that price, is more than optimistic.

That assumes that the required feature is available sooner rather than later. We have a couple of helicopters that should also have that feature, someday, and they have been out for a long time. I wouldn't count those chickens just yet. Also, there is a big difference between a co piloted aircraft and a training aircraft.

I still prefer my Synology boxes for that purpose. I have two with wired connections to my router, and a third on the shelf as a disaster backup.

Unexpected benefit of MS Sculpt Wireless Keyboard
cichlidfan replied to hansangb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I used an ergonomic keyboard (Microsoft Natural, which I still own a couple of) for years, in my work and home offices. However, for gaming, I prefer other solutions. A detachable numeric keyboard can easily be replaced by a separate USB numeric keypad. It is good that you have found a good solution for your environment and equipment but there are many ways to skin that cat. Of course, since I own about a dozen keyboards, from Razer Blackwidow's, Das Keyboards, and several generations of Logitech and Corsair gaming keyboards, along with a Logitech G35 and a Razer Orbweaver, I have lots of options available. I am also not a fan of wireless keyboards, or mice, for gaming purposes. -
It should be really cheap since someone else already paid for all of the development work.

Steam Autumn/Holiday Sale, DCS World Modules -40%

Btw, that is the right hand side. -
When I saw the title of the track the first thing that came to mind was this one from the incredibly talented Robert Palmer. The man was a master.

Smart TV over PC Monitor
cichlidfan replied to Marco1-11's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A TV, as dumb as you can find, will generally be adequate for flight sims. However, when gun combat comes into play you may find that the inherent lag in most TVs is a problem. Just like an FPS, timing can be critical and that lag will come into play. I, personally, have been quite happy with the 40inch 4k monitor in my sig. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it for the large size and 4k resolution. YMMV -
Cobra's statement is what makes me think so. Check their historical accuracy regarding dates for anything from an update to a release. I think their work is quite good but their prognostication skills are abysmal.

My house is fifty years old but not in a third world country. While major kitchen appliances have their own circuits there are still outlets in the kitchen where many people have microwaves and toasters which both draw lots of power. Also, lights and outlets in a given room are on the same circuit. Step one is to have a good diagram of what it connected to which circuit breaker. You might be surprised at what is on the same circuit. My workshop is wonderful since it has eight circuits in a 10x20 foot space but it was purpose built with it's end use in mind.

get rid of the mouse for interactive cockpit
cichlidfan replied to Baz000's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Captoglove is quite limited (I own a pair). For a clickable cockpit, sans mouse, I am still using a touch screen with great success. Knobs are a bit problematic but they do work. -
Vehicles don't follow roads
cichlidfan replied to FoxyFantasy7's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
This is not a new issue. There have been pathing problems on the Caucasus map since 2011 and I expect new ones once the map is re-released. The AI defined roads do not match the visuals. -
I would buy it. The Tomcat is a long way off and the Hornet is going to be so badly crippled on release that it doesn't matter.

As Bit said. UPS I use Cyberpower or APC throughout my house. Nothing more complex than a table lamp or an Amazon Echo is plugged directly into the wall. Even without a power outage the power coming down the line is 'dirty' so you cannot trust it not to disturb delicate electronics. Personally, in your situation, I would have an electrician install a new circuit so your PC room is not on the same circuit as anything else, especially not the kitchen.

Early access can be a great thing, for both the dev and the end user. However, it can also be abused when it takes many years to see it become feature complete (bugs not withstanding). Take the Huey for example. It is long since out of early access but it is not feature complete and even the manual is still incomplete nearly five years from initial release.
-
Something else is likely to be the issue. Device ID's are never identical, even for two identical devices.

Just one word. YES. More value than any flight sim will ever provide. Knowledge is power.
