  1. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/walter-becker-steely-dan-co-founder-dead-at-67-w500956 A truly great loss. As it happens, I just received my tickets for Steely Dan's next show, October 25th, in my area. This would have been the fifth time I had seen them. They will always remain one of my favorite bands. He was only nine years older than I am. I was at this show. R.I.P. :(
  2. That really depends on whether the OP insists on maxed out graphic settings. Since he indicated that was not a requirement then a 1440 monitor is a worthwhile investment. Running a 4k monitor with a non-Ti 1080 keeps me from maxing out the graphics but does provide me with a spectacular image. Of course, I will upgrade the graphics in the next year or so and my 4k monitor will look that much better for it.
  3. It's rather funny how many of those adapters I have thrown away. I own, and have owned, many Noctua fans (I think I still have 3 or 4 in the original package ) and I have never used one of them.
  4. It could make sense for helos too, but I agree, for other DCS aircraft. If you feel wind on your face in your F-15 then something is not right. ;)
  5. Deactivations are one use items so each time you use one, the count goes down. Activations should be conserved by using deactivations.
  6. As Wags said, above, this change only affects NEW Steam releases (currently just M2000 and Nevada, I think), while all older modules still use StarForce.
  7. I am going to hazard a guess that ED is well aware of what the users think of this. How about instead of fixing it, which I doubt will ever happen, they just explain the rationale behind it? Then we can just discuss how the rationale makes no sense. ;)
  8. The problem with this idea is where does it stop. If every dev team is expected to continually update their modules to the 'current standard' then we should expect to never get any new modules because the artists/graphics folks will not have enough free time to work on them. Of course, at some point each of the various dev teams will cease to exist because they can no longer be financially viable due to the workload of updating their older products without any revenue. It is a nice idea but woefully impractical.

You can't have everything. I think that is in the EULA somewhere. :)
  10. No internet site is a good backup for another internet sight. Offline disk/flash drive is the only correct answer.

Even longer if ED ties up resources working on something else.
  12. No. It is labeled Open Alpha on Steam.
  13. Well, even with games that currently have multiple versions available, like Factorio, you can still only have one version installed.
  14. So DCS beta on Steam is now v2.x?
  15. Go 4k if you are serious about your photos.
  16. No it does not.
  17. I thought v2 was not available on Steam? So what does this mean? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3233515&postcount=32 And how does one use v2.1.1 with Steam, without any terrain?

Rather silly to spend dev time creating something that is only 'allowed' to be used in limited situations (and how would you intend to enforce that, anyway). Also, what would you like ED to delay, or not do at all, while they work on nuclear weapons and the associated graphics and optimizations necessary to make them workable?
  19. Having been a TARGET user for many years, that sounds like it is possibly a USB power issue. Is everything plugged into your motherboard or are you using a powered hub?
  20. Since your upgrade is scheduled for an indeterminate time in the future and you want it to be good enough for a product with, as yet, unknowm hardware requirements (v2.x is not stable enough to predict what it will end up needing), I would wait until v2.5 is out.

  22. ^^^ This! The four port Inotek PCIE USB 3.0 internal card is the correct answer for your Rift connections. Then add an external powered hub for other stuff. As long as you ensure it is a decent hub that can provide a full 500mA to each port, you will be fine.
  23. I was not familiar with her before but she definitely knows how to play. I think she took the slot that Orianthi had.
  24. While this is quite true, the newly created bugs that seem to come with the fixes to other things does make it difficult to maintain the appearance of a positive trend.
