Because the vectors are not closed the free MS 22558 font if you're using it has holes or unclose vectors. 3 d modeling programs are also not very good at text. I would suggest you make your panel out line and holes and any relief for pcb in the 3d modeling program. Then export the face of your file to a DXF. file and import it into Corel Draw and place your text with your chosen font where you would like it, and save as a corell file then a DXF file for engraving.

There are several problems with EL lighting that have been covered over at VP. Noise from the transformer. Burning out and correctly cutting and sealing them. Surface mounted leds are one of the more popular methods of backlighting panels. But using specific material or this type of etching the panel has been mentioned over at VP What success or failure they have had I can't say I no longer visit that site.

The slot for the 20 Chanel preset selector has been cut in the panel so getting it to work may be a challenge the knobs are available on my knob site for the time being. I am just on my phone wile on a vacation. So I can't post any pictures. This is not the easiest panel to get fully functional

It is the same in the A-10 gimbal. in my cockpit the gimbal is attached to two transfer rods both pitch and roll are transferred down the length of the cockpit in for and aft motion then attache to the DC torque motors

That looks good the way it should i it with a bit of flat sealer to knock off the shine and she is done great job

well I have the grip stick gimbels transfer rods and DC torque mothers along with H bridge controllers. as long as we don't fry it I am willing

Well Shapeways shop has been open 3 months two sales and 0 money made you have to make over $30.00 to get a check from them not even halfway there with basically no mark up on the knobs. I think it is time to cut it loose. Thanks to the guys that purchased a couple of knobs but it is a waste of time.
