I do not see any problems with having one install, and frankly if it is going to be mostly based on the same core it should be. Having two separate installs is really the simplest way, not necessarily the best for the customer. The multi-era problems could be solved by stamping each module you buy (aircraft, maps, vehicles) with an era, or even as granular as a year. Finally, the first module you install decides the era or year in the common DCS World, affecting the UI theme, available units and maps in the mission editor, and filter out unrelated content. Naturally the user would get full control over era settings, so that they may choose to disable era-filtering, being able to put whatever they wish in their missions, or switch between eras.

Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
LostOblivion replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
Keep the personal attacks off of the forums, or you will likely end up being banned. I would not mind seeing civilian aircraft in DCS. I think it would only add to the diversity in mission making, and it is ultimately the mission maker's choice whether or not to include certain aircraft into her mission. Lost -
I really like how she 'coughs' out blacker smoke at some point in there. ^^

I'm curious as to what ED uses for their version number. This is so different from company to company. The first three parts are obvious, but what is 16508 and 225. CVS revision and build number?
-
These things have nothing to do with the Flight Model.
-
Why? What does this add that isn't to be included in the final release of DCS: UH-1H?
-
Are there any plans to add axis controls for movement of vehicles in CA? Question probably not noticed by anyone that can answer it, but worth a shot. :P
-
Very much looking forward to this. I like the way Belsimtek pop out their products with professional efficiency...and quality on top of that!
-
Alan, keep them yourself for the sake of your collection. :) Also, when you want to fly the Su-25 on your next install of Windows, you can just install that one without having to go through the hassle of installing Lock On and FC3. ;)
-
It's nice to have if you're gonna simulate low RPM with a following auto-rotation landing.
-
I guess you can use basic or base Su-25.

Yes. To clarify, the Russians have a different naming convention for aircraft variants and mostly name their aircraft based on their function, whereas US aircraft are named after their counter version, starting at A. Thus, for US jets it makes sense to call the first version of an aircraft type "A", but not for Russian aircraft.

Why not in 2.10.7?

The August 2nd Wags Update! Thread

With the new GBU-31 version 3/B, will it actually be able to penetrate the bunkers in, say, Senaki? :) -
Deleted docs mysteriously reappear
LostOblivion replied to Gloom Demon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I use an SSD and there is a very good solution that solves this problem painlessly. All you have to do is move your big folder to your HDD and make a symbolic link to it from where it used to be. No programs will be able to tell the difference between a symlimk and a folder, so the auto-updater won't try to replace them. Use the mklink command from the command line in Windows. -
RAMDisk for Temp folder (stutter problems)
LostOblivion replied to Raf's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I have problems with stuttering when I rotate the camera towards, say, an airfield with lots of units. Will putting tmp or even the DCS World folder into ramdisk help reduce the stuttering, or is my 1GB video memory the bottleneck here? -
The biggest issue: Guns and frame rate

Wild Bill. Can you make your vids available from mobile phones? Can't see them. -
Some features I want to see in DCS: 1. Axis controls for moving ground units in CA. Perfect for gamepads. As it is now, I don't want to play it because I cannot use my game pad with it. 2. Independent free head movement when controlling sidegunners. The machine gun should be aimed by the mouse and head movement should be controlled by Ctrl+C or TrackIR, independent from the orientation of the gun. 3. TrackIR after having bailed out or ejected. 4. Named flag identifiers in the ME, not just numbers.

what is su25A and A10A in 1.2.5?
LostOblivion replied to uboats's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Correct, given that you got the modules via FC3. ED should clarify that FC3 now serves as a bundle of the four modules, in addition to the MiG-29 and Su-33. What else will individual module owners not get? Edit: Sniped. Medevac! -
There will be soon yes.

DCS 1.2.5 Released, Update 2 Released
LostOblivion replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
In the Ka-50 the trimmer also trims the rudder. This differs from the Huey because, unlike conventional helicopters, the Ka-50 needs more rudder the faster you fly. Conventional helicopters need close to no rudder when flying straight and fast, but constant attention when hovering or flying slowly while adjusting the collective. -

Yes, every missions that has either GROUP AI ON/OFF or GROUP ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE crashes now. -
DCS 1.2.5 Released, Update 2 Released
LostOblivion replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I think it is not just the group activate action, but also the group ai on/off actions as well. Someone confirm?
