>>> ServMan Server Management Mod v2 for DCS:BS v1.0.1 Released! <<<
Fudd replied to Acedy's topic in Multiplayer
Thanks for your hard work Stephan! This tool has made server hosting so much easier! S! -
The 159th Dedi was hacked beyond repair a couple weeks ago. We have a new server and as soon as it is delivered (tonight) I'll get it back up.
-
Awesome! No more Ka-50's with Aim-54's.... take that, cheaters!! :)

Most of these questions are answered in other threads.... search function, people! :D In order to host a DCS BS sever you must: Purchase a seperate DCS license Have a server that runs Windows (must purchase a windows activation) Have a server that has a video card and sound card (both Direct X compliant) Access the server with an interface that does not disable direct X (so no using Remote Desktop). Be able to consistently monitor the server. (Acedy's program does automate to some degree, but current multiplayer instabilities causes frequent crashing) Be able to pay for unmetered bandwith in order to host client loads over 10 (10mbit up/down). ...just to name a few. I'm not trying to discourage you, but its not as simple as it seems. If you are serious about setting one up, I know an excellent company and will help you with the inital setup. Just send me a PM.

I'm not 100% sure about that one, Evil. I have on several occasions put my own aircraft within the blast radius of a bomb I was dropping in LO--and paid the price for it. Try doing a low run with a Su-33 and Fab-500's...

Roche, It sounds like you dont have DirectDraw and Direct3D Acceleration enabled. It could be two possible things or a combiniation of both. One, Direct X 9.0C did not install correctly or your nVidia dirvers are outdated. I checked nVidia's site you can download 185.85 relased on May 7th http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_fx_notebook_winxp_185.85_whql.html, which is the latest driver. It may not be approved by Dell so make sure you have a good recovery point incase you need to revert back to last known good configuration. After you install 185.85, go to run, type dxdiag. Press save information and save it as .txt file. Copy and paste the information from the text file here and we can help you find the issue. -Fudd

It's good to be back!!! I enjoyed seeing many of you flying about on Friday. We've been having some stability issues with the Server 2003 Web Edition OS. Today we are planning on upgrading to Server 2008. It will be interesting to see if it provdes smoother framerates for the client with the enhanced support for multicore machines.

Its not that difficult: xm/s * 1km/1000m * 60sec/1min * 60min/1hr = xkm/hr or just times it by 3.6 and you get your answer

Server is running like a scalded puppy. We have a new mission coming up on Thursday with over 600 units in the mission. It should be tons of fun and test the capacity of this new machine.

Printed Black Shark Manual Purchase, North America
Fudd replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Just curious--will said manual come with kneetop checklists with start-up procedures, EP's and shut down procedures? I'll be purchasing the manual regardless, btw. -
Below is a mission with both the HAWK and the Patriot. They both track and engage targets. There is a flight of Su-24's as SEAD and a Mig-25RBT as recon. SAM Demo.miz
-
For SAM units to function you must have all the units within a certain radius of each other. For HAWK you must have the Search Radar, the Tracking Radar and the launch vehicles all within the coverage of the search radar. For the Patriot you must have the Command Vehicle, Search Radar and launch vehicle all within the coverage of the search radar. Also for the patriot it only as 180 degrees of coverage and depends on which way the radar is pointing.

Thats all I'm saying. Focusing your energy on stopping the conflict would save a lot more lives than campaigning against DU. ;)
-
No, its meant to illustrate the fact that the only scientifically proven significant route of exposure that has had above di minimus risk to populations is through inhalation. The exposure of radiation from DU rounds probably does not exceed background and even then thats not the most risky part of DU.
-
I'm no expert in this department, but come on gents! Maybe if we ask Yo-Yo real nicely, he could maybe give the forums a remedial class in physics. I'm sure though you'd rather have him focus on DCS A-10 than be teaching physics fundamentals. Maybe its time to enroll in community college :P
-
http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/periodic_table/mass.html p = m/v You cant have the same density but differing mass unless its a gas or liquid and subject to different temperatures and pressures.
-
Good video, I'll rep you. Although it is important to note that it would take an extreme amount of videos to obtain an equal amount of info that you get when you RTFM! :P
-
Some important literature you shoud read concerning RTFM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM  Also listed within (which is a favorite of mine) is UTSL. The source in this case would be that big DCS.pdf taking up space on your hard drive. :P
-
Bottom line is that I fail to see how the DU rounds are any more risky than lead rounds. War is war, so while I probably would be upset about an A-10 shooting something in my back yard, I would probably be more worried about the radiation exposure from radon gas in my basement or the radaition exposure from a flight across country or the radiation exposure fom the x-ray at the dentist office... and the list goes on.
-
Taken from the WHO fact sheet: "Contamination by DU dusts of local vegetation and water supplies was found to be extremely low. Thus, the probability of significant exposure to local populations was considered to be very low. "
-
Here is more information about DU and environmental risks: http://web.ead.anl.gov/uranium/guide/environ/index.cfm DU rounds are not what you should be worried about, its the large amounts generated and stockpiled by nuclear facilities. If an A-10 fired a few DU rounds into my backyard, I wouldn't be declaring it a nuclear waste site... I just wouldn't want to be breathing the air until the particles settled. An excerpt take from here: http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/inf14.html CAVEAT: I'm not advocating the use of DU, I'm just saying that its not as terrible as some would want you to believe. Check the science on it, thats all....
-
Devil Dog... If they occupy the same volume, and their densities are equal, then the weight of the object would be equal. The only way your above argument would work, is if the density of tungsten was approx half of DU. If that was the case the speed at which the "lighter" round travels would have to be proportional to the energy lost by decreasing the mass of the round... (it's velocity would have to be much higher than the DU round). I know... there is no MCI for Physics...
