Happy Birthday EB! Wheres Cosmo with twins???
  2. There is an option in the options page to force all missions to abide by the options set by the GUI. If this is checked and you have externals enabled, it wont matter what the mission setting is. It can work the other way also. If you dont have the box checked in the GUI then the options set by the GUI will be different from what is set in the mission editor. The best way to do it: Uncheck the box forcing the missions. Dont use the editor options only use the options page in the GUI and then save the mission when you change your options and the mission will retain those options. Hope that makes sense. Edit (What it looks like server side): It depends what view: If you have map enabled and your not in pit, you get the map. If you have map disabled and your not in pit you get F11 view (airbases). If your in pit then you cant use F-2 through 10 depending if map is enabled or not...
  3. Its do-able. I've seen 60+ clients on a Lock-On Server. I don't see why a Duo Core machine on a fat pipe cant host 32 players. I wouldn't suggest doing it on a home DSL connection though.... Ya need at least 10GB/s up and down.

    Free rep day!

Sweet, I'll get in on the action. ...almost like freeeee boooze..
  5. Like I said, the framework is there. We've been told that in future iterations a dedicated server option is possible, likely to include the things you've metioned, cause like I said banning features are already present in the script. What I am more concerned about is the present. The tools we have are improving, there is possiblity for 3rd party designed interface to ban and we have the IP logs in the temp files. If people police each other a little bit and report actions on the server's forums we can keep the idiots out. Overall I am pleased in the direction things have gone since Lock-On--as far as server hosting goes. I look forward to seeing what surprises are in store with future iterations.
  6. ED has left us with some neat tools to help in the moderation of multiplayer servers. Track files are automatically generated, so if I hear about this TK'er over on our forums I can simply watch the track file, find the person and then find his IP in the server.net log. What I do need from players is to post over on our forums when this is hapening. I do hang around the server quite often but I cant always be there--my wife would killl me... lol. There is also some neat framework to ban players in game that was provided by ED. All we need to do is build an interface to work with it. Its possible that kicking and banning people will become very easy in the near future...
  7. If that happens again, just spawn in at FARP B or C. FARP C is defended by a Patriot and FARP B by several Roland ADS's and about 20+ hidden manpads.
  8. I don't think that is possible. You can have a unit spawn in as result of them taking damage or you can have some other action happen once they reach a certain waypoint, but having the actual unit progress to another waypoint dependant on damage they take isn't possible AFAIK.
  9. The 159th Server runs Windows Server 2003. As was repeated aboove you will need a server that has a DX 9 compliant video card and sound card. You will need a admin program like UltraVNC or Remote Admin that will allow direct X acceleration while accessing the server.
  10. You can do it in the ME (on the same page where you edit loadouts). After review of the manual, i did learn that it isn't possible to carry chaff, so while you can alot it in the ME, it just ends up shorting bluefor of flares. ...I'll fix it on the next revision.
  11. "DCS Automatic Mission Rotator: 10 Minutes Left in mission" OHHH NO! I've been flying for 8 hours and still haven't reached my target!!!!!!!! YAWN! :D Might as well call it DCS:Surfing Porn, 'cause what the hell else ya gonna do with a 14+ hour hop? Alt+Tab is gonna come in 'handy', brotha!
  12. No, thats not the problem. I had someone in my squad place the FARP's in the same position on a new map and no problems... I may have to rebuild the entire mission from scratch. I had what I believe were some artifacts show up during the build that had to do with some triggers. If I rebuild from scratch its possible that I can get rid of the problem. EDIT: Rather than rebuild the mission, all blue Ka-50's spawn above their FARP's. They are low on fuel and without weapons, so you must land before getting under way. Also, when spawning in, pull collective so that you dont crash. S!
  13. Its a known issue. I think its a bug inside DCS, becaue when I have them spawn in single player it works fine. i'm trying to resolve the issue right now.
  14. omg! I had to repeat that one to my wife... she threatened violence, I got out the duct tape...:lol::lol::lol:

    Fudd!

Thanks Gents!!! I'm off to the bar! Time to get pissed and howl at the moon!
  16. Alpha, Depends on what you mean. If your going to run your own dedicated server and use our missions, then no, I would rather you not. Alot of work goes into those missions and to have someone else run them on their own dedicated server is tantamount to plagarism. I'm sure I speak for both Royalman and SG when we ask that you enjoy them on our dedicated server. If you want to use our missions on a closed server for your own squad or for some of your buddies thats fine with me. But just please dont make a public dedi running the 159th's missions. Thanks, 159th_Fudd
  17. Not in this case. The outbound path is over University City and La Jolla with patterns over Clairemont. The average price of housing in La Jolla is over 1 million dollars, University City over $600,000 and Clairemont in the high 500,000's. Regardless of someones SES, 1 Engine EP's should not be allowed over residential areas.
  18. I am disturbed by this crash also. I live approx 2-3 miles from where it happened. I'm saving my crticism until the report is final, but what we do know is that a Grandmother, Mother and infant lost their lives. A child is missing and persumed dead--its a god damn tragedy! The pilot was aiming for a gully/canyon approx 100 yards from where the plane impacted. I cant help but think because he took off from the Lincoln, off the coast of Cali, that ditching it was a better option. Like I said though, I'm waiting for the final details...

  20. Do you have any other info on the Prichal system, EB? I was curious to know what the wavelength of the laser is.

Glad you guys are enjoying it. We will steadily ramp up the difficulty of the training missions over the next few weeks and then eventually go to full out co-op and head to head missions. I just wanted to remind eveyone that the same rules apply in our server with DCS as they did with LOFC. If your caught TKin, vulching or blowing up the FARP or your name makes it into the hall of shame on our forums, its an automatic ban. If you do get banned your always welcome to come over to the 159th forums and throw yourself on the mercy of the court. Boris is always handing out punishments that exceed the crimes.
  23. This is the best post I've seen yet. Its hard to explain it those who have not worked on helicopter flight controls. It isn't a solid mechanical linkage between the stick and the swash plate of the rotor head. It can be with the servos off--but that is less than ideal. Your servos lengthen and shorten their inputs depending on speed, etc and also allow you to auto 'hold' a position in the sky. This is not always seen on the stick side. You can trim your stick to a certain postion, but depending on the flight paramaters of the aircraft, the servo may be continuing to alter its input on the flight control channel. Its uber complicated... and those of you who have ever seen a mixing unit know that channels impact and have input on other channels and even the engine is affected (collective bias)...
  24. It wouldn't happen to come with a preflight checklist and EP's for our kneeboards, would it??? :smilewink:
