  1. Italy?
  2. I had similar problem once, image on the mirrors frozen with some kind of glare/reflection. Trying to recreate it again.
  3. Phoenix is 1000lb and 4m long, MK-82 is 2.22m long.
  4. Last time I check this tool, it doesn't count overclocked CPUs. My CPU is was the weak point, but I'm sure that is is much faster than newer stock CPUs which are listed as minimum. On OP question: With my system I will hold my breath for Oculus until upgrade. Then maybe I can get second generation VR headsets.
  5. DCS 2.5 performs great on my old machine. Most of the time (excluding MiG-21 module), fps counter sits at 60fps (high preset).
  6. I just took a second look in DCS and real photos street views. Now trees doesn't looks to me so big. Anyway, I like the new trees, at 100% setting, FPS counter is fixed to 60 most of the time.
  7. This is first think what I noticed, when saw the new map. I hope someone will make a mod for smaller trees. In the cities, trees reach 6-7 floor, which is quite unusual.
  8. Comparing the footage and the new map, what do you thing about new trees? For me in all Eagle's simulators trees are somehow bigger(6-7 stories) that usual . I know that if the trees are smaller, then their count should be bigger and the hardware requirements will be different.
  9. I'm still happy with my 2500K, but you probably will need 16GB RAM.
  10. @BitMaster, do you have already bios update against Spectre? Is it possible to disable the protection with grc tool?
  11. Meltdown protection can be disabled by uninstalling the update or with registry settings (the method of this tool). Of course you will need restart after every change. About Spectre, I'm not sure how it will be with bios update, but you can check.
  12. One interesting tool to check yours systems. https://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm Please read the page carefully and use on own risk, many anti-virus programs report it as malware. Also, it is possible to update the CPU microcode under Windows with VMWare microcode update driver. https://labs.vmware.com/flings/vmware-cpu-microcode-update-driver Instructions are provided on the page. Unfortunately, for old systems like mine (Sandy Bridge), there is still no microcode update from Intel. My plan is to keep my system protected in default state and disable protections when flying.
  13. How these patches will reflect on old systems with Sandy Bridge?
  14. Intel stock currently falling, but I expect that in the near months Intel will launch new stepping of Coffee Lake CPUs with hardware fix and all of us with old Intel rigs will be forced to upgrade.
  15. Actually it affect all x86-64 systems running on Intel CPUs.
  16. I replaced the motherboard of my wife's computer recently. Did not touch any drivers. Windows 10 booted without any problems and installed all needed drivers. Only needed to go through phone activation (no digital license). Few days ago I done the same with the Windows 7 computer of wife's parents.
  17. I switched from 850 EVO 500GB to 960 EVO 1TB. The system is cloned and converted from MBR to GPT. I'm lazy to do a comprehensive comparison, but here are some numbers: Power on to desktop: 950 EVO 500GB - 23.45s 960 EVO 1TB - 21.90s DCS: Mig-21 Instant action->Free flight loading time: 950 EVO 500GB - 46.60s 960 EVO 1TB - 36.70s Notes: Mobo: P67 Extreme4 Slot: PCIe 2.0 x4. I'm on Sandy Bridge and so only PCIe 2.0 is available and NVMe drive top performance is limited.
  18. If Training Aircraft -> More Customers-> More Money -> More Staff For What I Want THEN Yes.
  19. Only SSD change. These crazy RAM prices can not convince me to upgrade. I can wait for better times.
  20. I will use this thread to ask something. If I move my OS and DCS to new m.2 SSD, do I need to reactivate all DCS modules?
  21. Almost 39 now. Started with F29 Retaliator in early '90s.
  22. Thank you for the replies. I was almost sure for the meaning, but decided to ask. Today I read an article (translated from bbc site), where "kill" was translated as "murder" in my native language and it sounds totally wrong to me.
  23. Hi, I'm not native English speaker and I have this question: Is there any difference between terms: "Air-to-air victory" and "Air-to-air kill"? Is the air kill mean to kill the pilot or just to shot down the plane?
  24. Hi Wags, Is there any special reason to call "Strait of Hormuz" a "Persian Gulf" map in the latest update?
  25. I guess that FM is old. Without afterburner she reach 600km/h:lol:.
