  1. The Alps are beautiful. I hate all my vacation photos of them, though. Looks like I took pictures of some rocks  Doesn't do justice at all.
  2. THINK I'LL START WRITING IN BOLD CAPS BLUE, HOW'S THAT FOR A STYLE?
  3. Single-sided double density. A floppy drive term. You might want to look into upgrading that to a CD-ROM.
  4. The memory architecture likes to refuse running in dual-channel if the timings or size of the RAM is off but it shouldn't cause errors like the one's you've been having. What's the timings and voltages of the two sticks?
  5. You can mix and match ram all you want but it'll only be as fast as the slowest chip.
  6. Placed an order for the hardcover, thank you Sir.
  7. Yeah, that was... I almost feel ashamed for not suggesting RAM, it did cross my mind several times but I dismissed it as too easy Anyway, glad your GFX card is still good, as with rest of your pc. As far as replacing components go, memory is by far the cheapest. Enjoy your new flashy sticks
  8. Are there any plans to include Dx10 or 11?
  9. Here are a few low-mid tier Asus laptops, unless your laptop is of extreme personal value to you I strongly suggest you find a new laptop instead of upgrading the old, it's just not cost effective. A low tier laptop processor can be more expensive than a high-tier desktop processor. And you're only replacing one bottleneck with another. http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=629418 http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=617821 http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=618229
  10. I think it would be cheaper in the long run just to buy a new computer.. But what brand and model is it?
  11. Yeah you can change the processor if it's not embedded (embedded meaning soldered to the pcb). However it's a painfull process. You should find the service manual for the laptop, provided by the manufacturer (Acer, Asus, HP etc.). It'll tell you what to do.
  12. On the start menu, right click My Computer and select Manage. Then go to Device Manager. You can also enter "dxdiag" without the quotes in the start menu to run the DirectX diagnostic tool, should have all the info you need :)
  13. Most likely the motherboard, but just out of curiosity are you able to boot from something other than your windows 7 harddrive? Got any old hardware lying around or a second pc?
  14. Sounds similar to the emergency startup system in some lifeboats Isn't there a risk of a rupture in the accumulator bottles when taking fire?
  15. It's on the Freespace 2 Source Code Project They've REALLY hammered that engine to make it support MMO playstyle The source code project comes from a group of guys who REALLY liked Freespace 2 (which I do, and I still play the SCP). The BSG mod comes from a group of guys who REALLY like BSG. Looks like they took the mod a little further.
  16. What does the A10 use? Right engine hydraulics system or pressure bottles?
  17. Can you post your pc specs? If it works fine with the 7600 card, download this program, undo any overclock and run the CPU test for an hour then the GPU test. If it fails with the 7600 card then that rules out the 4800 card. If it runs fine, that "might" mean it's the 4800 card but you'd have to tax the PSU to rule that one out as well. (Don't use the OCCT power supply test!) Do you use on-board sound or do you have a soundcard installed? If you have a soundcard, does it have an amplifier? That may very well make a popping sound. PSU faults are... undpredictable. It could work well at low wattage but not be able to deliver what the hardware needs or create harmonics in the current.
  18. A "pop" sound? Sure its not your PSU? What happens if you put the screen on the motherboard output?
  19. If the gear doesn't come down when you open and close the gear lever make sure you leave it in the "down" position then pull the aux. gear lever down by the rudders. Wiggle the plane as much as you can above 200 IAS to force it loose. If that doesn't do it jettison the stores and land on the belly.
  20. Saw your avatar and my mind immediately jumped to DCS: Mechwarrior :shocking:
  21. I like to see how well I can control the plane after getting hit, I almost always have to eject but I've never sat in the plane going down just for the hell of it
  22. Wouldn't you just love it if it turns out to be the C-130 Hercules or the stratotanker?
