Overclocking will only net U about 2or3 frames per second increase, most have found it a waist of time and not worth the potential destruction of the CPU. If U were having issues with the power supply, I would guess the problems with the GPU were related, and it is in fact, not going bad as U stated. A wait and see on the GPU is relatively prudent. Relatively meaning what are your druthers? Purchasing the best GPU that ur money can buy at this time will ill fail U. No matter the specific requirements of the new graphics engine, and its inability to outpace what the market has to offer at this juncture. It is after all, in it self older technology, it's just going to be "New" to DCS Products right? So the "Requirements" will be the same as they are for it at present. This method is in use on other products as we speak. It is "Sand Boxing" a "Sand Boxed" software program after all.

GC overheating could change things the way U are describing. Have U checked that?

It is a bit. Left to interpretation as those that say "Flying" include (for the most part) system failures caused by combat in their statements fall back to the "Combat" side of the question. What would be more accurate is, How many use the "Free Flight" offering in DCS. This being the "Just Flying the Aircraft" portion of the Pole. As "Free Flight" offers pure Aviation with out "Combat". Then one would have a truer answer as to the "Civil" aviation the users keep mentioning, yet seem to include combat elements in their descriptions.

I Don't think this applies any longer. I haven't had issue with stuttering or higher frame rates as u say. And all settings are on max. Trees, Water, Bushes, Civ. Traffic all maxed out. with the settings u mentioned also almost at their max.

U must update that graphics card. Nvidias DSR is outstanding for DCS even in "Free Flights".

Oh yes. Would have any other way. Until something better comes along of course. Just enjoy seeing the attacking jets earlier than with out DSR. It gives a greater chance of equalizing the odds of being a better match for the AI in a dog fight, along with the feeling of matching skill levels. As I am now able to change to the DSMS and set up my attack much faster now, as before I wouldn't have time as the enemy would be approaching to fast with the shorter notice. This allowing me to fire off more attempts at defeating him. Increasing the settings for me wasn't a part of DSRs as I was already set to max everything in DCS. Water, Trees, all set to max.

This of course is typical of the "Combat Sim" genre. I guess U could have the 747 shot at by some rogue ex-CIA operative, to get that same experience in FSX . They both do have their merits of course.

Exactly the point. The object was "Longevity". We all enjoy the "Eye Candy", upon the release of a new title or an update to the graphics engine. It's ability to hold that interest is limited though. I have even started to enjoy just "Flying" again. Nvidias DSR is awesome as far as increasing eye candy. Seeing things from further away gives that reinvigorated feeling I had after the DCS graphics were updated. Lost it, got it back. ( as it were. )

Using a "Combat Flight Simulator", to just "Fly", is like using a First Person Shooter, to walk along the jungle floor. Are their logical reason for doing so? yes. One game engine might be better at jungle graphics giving the user an interesting view, sights and sounds in their version of a jungle. This enticing as it may be in the beginning, has little to offer in its longevity. As the user gets used to the newer or better appearance in said environs. After the "Honeymoon" state has run its course, their will be little to hold the users attention. Flight dynamics in DCS products are superb as it is. Its ILS and IGI are unmatched so far. This leads again to longevity of the aforementioned systems. Offering the user little in the way of longevity. They are after all very similar in each module. Users of FSX enjoy a myriad of Jets and Planes that are part of the Flight Sim. keeping the users of that genre interested as they learn to fly each plane, this is enough for those who want to "Fly" passenger jets. Combat Simmers are a different breed. The Technical aspects of the jet are only a part of the Simmers enjoyment and desire to engage in a DCS Product. Far more aspects of technicality are involved in the "Combat Sim." War Operations are so varied, the longevity far exceeds that of a "Flight Sim." Pulling off target rolling out of a line of AAA popping flares and chaff is a thrill unmatched in any "Flight Sim" ever created. Try finding an equal adrenaline inducing experience in flying a 747 with 274 passengers on their way to Hawaii for a conference on "The New Technology of Shoe manufacturing". Just doesn't quite do it, for me anyway.

I don't know. I care little about the actual number and just look to ensure I have no stuttering or freezes. Some can get caught up in the numbers thing. chasing ghost kind of, when a smooth Sim is what we are looking for.

What would that need to be done for? I have Anisotropic set to 8x and Antialiasing set at 4x. It is working fine for me. Is this a card specific thing?

Anisotropic filtering 16X Antialiasing- FXAA On Antialiasing-Gamma correction Global ON "" - Mode Enhance ap. settings "" setting - 32xCAA "" Transparency -8X Supersampling Cuda -GPUs -Global ALL Max. pre-rendered frames - 2 (This helped a lot for me) Multi-display/mixed GPU- Single display (for my set up) Power management Mode - Max performance Shader Cache -Use Global On Texture filtering Anisotropic sample - ON Texture filtering-Negative LOD bias - Clamp "" -Quality - High quality "" Trilinear optimization- Use Global On Threaded optimization - ON Triple buffering -On Verical sync. - Use global setting 3D application controlled

Have tech. guys increase the fan speed or down clock the GPU. DX9 thing. It will not be a problem in EDGE (I hope). As it runs in a different environment from the DX9 Windows Interface.

The users of the R9 have had to turn the overclock off. That's all DX9 and the R9 "Overclocked" don't seem to get along. Try it, it has worked for others with that card. Search forum u will see.

Have U tried deleting the saved game folder in DCS so that it will be recreated upon the next start up of the sim.? And/Or a repair?
