Radar Tests: VERY VERY unusual results.
Supersheep replied to USARStarkey's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Hmm. I see the term "source" being used frequently. I find the lack of links disturbing, so I conclude that it's either a subscription to Jane's* or offline material/persons/contacts? *Maybe I'm expecting too much from them? But anyways, looking at the price tag... -
$500 to spend. GPU or Warthog?

Glad I could help. Enjoy your journey =) -
$500 to spend. GPU or Warthog?
Supersheep replied to dogslax41's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Warthog, hands-down. I play on an HD 5850 that DCS runs ok. If I didn't have a Warthog but knew what it's like, I'd never upgrade the GPU first. With a TM:W you don't need a better GPU for any other games, either :D (Ok I made that one up) Edit: Sniped. -
I deleted two of mine, they were entirely not relevant to the topic.

Anyone have an actual A10C Training Syllabus?
Supersheep replied to Whiskeybravo's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks sir. -
The difficulty with an SA-10 is that it has a huge tracking radius. To get lies corssing at 90 degrees, you need to fly a quarter-circumfence of the radar, and that is a long way. Of course, it works with shorter distances like a 1/16 circumfence, but it becomes much more suspectuble to even the slightest errors, and using the RWR like that is always an inexact science. I'm confident that you now know how to do it. Simply change your mission to an SA-15 and you'll likely get much better results. Then, figure out the time it takes the A-10 to fly a quarter around and SA-10 at max search range, and then repeat with that information.

Oh LOL, that's so new I didn't even see the huge announcement on the main page... although it's kind of hard to miss. Thanks for pointing it out, anyways.

Do you have a link to what you refer to? (Or do you mean the rep system?)

Thanks for your patience, I wasn't as professional as you can expect from me. I'll watch my ways. With that out of the way, kudos to all of you who put in a considerable amount of time to actually further the discussion. The observed behavior is indeed interesting. Edit: Is it good to throttle to idle and attack in the first place, and would be used? Intuitively, that only makes a maneuver that is bad to start with slightly better. I don't assume this to be a good tactic, b/c it depends on the current SAM logic.

Edited out, I don't follow you down there. Sorry but your last post sums this thread up perfectly, albeit differently than you'd like to think. Thanks, I now know what to think about it.

Has someone tried what happens when one of the units that run the script is also controlled by a CA player from time to time? If no, I'll post here once I have my mission (or test mission) done, but that might take until after my holidays so don't hold your breath.

Can you send messages to other A10C players?
Supersheep replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yeah as you figured out, they're mapped by default :D Great idea from ED to do that I agree. -
We can play rock-paper-scissors-lizzard-spock to settle it. But you have to stop playing spock!

I much like to be corrected, as that would mean that the sim is more sophisticated than I experienced. The odds for that are not clear to me however.

Is there a reference that says data =+ flares etc? The only mention I can find is data = distance and speed.
-
I thougt I'd posted it in this thread, too but didn't, so anyways: I see that video more as an exercise for learning the CDU. I hardly use that method in a mission at all - it costs too much time, might need you to fly over hostile terrain, your attention goes all to getting the procedure right, not to flying. All of those are dangerous propositions...

In the discussion of the change logs, a big point was made of the change that SAMs don't launch at max range anymore. Now, what does that say about the 3km standoff attack and the effectiveness of preemptive flares against something like a Gaskin? I don't see much to be pointed out there, other than the fact that the SAM would not shoot either way. I can say that I motor along at a shorter distance from IR SAMs, without sun, without flares, and don't get a launch, either. Playtime doesn't prove anything, by the way. We need an actual file, which I expect you to know, so I'm at a loss as to what to make of your post. Bragging?

I was given the same advice (or read the same posts) and subscribe to this...

Hey MBot, many thanks for creating and sharing this script. I like it so much that I just played Public Transport Provider for half an hour, ferrying people around my current mission project :) Special mention for the ease of use in both the mission editing process and in the game! Best regards, Supersheep (and a big BUMP for the thread :) )

@P*Funk: IIRC that was the 30mm HE where the explosive mass was set to equal the total round mass. Edit: Here it is, might be Gun/Rocket or both:

What do you mean, as good as it gets? This ain't Unreal Tournament, but you sure know that.

Off topic: Really helpful @#28. Thanks! Edit: That looks like a comic-esque flame. It isn't..
