The laser is for range finding only. I always use it as I wasted loads of missiles early on because I was over 6km away. The targeting is manual track, it won't auto track a moving target. If I am not wrong Pil keeps the location in view regardless of the heading/position of the aircraft. Ass/lock will lock the turret to the heading relative to the aircraft. So if the turret is pointing to the aircrafts 12 o'clock it will remain pointed to the 12 rather than keep track of the target in Pil mode. I also followed the coast and stuck very low. I found some targets at a town part way back and engaged them but I don't think you have to, I could have bypassed them. The radar warning receiver only receives, no transmission, so leave it on.

I love that the MDC casts a shadow in the cockpit. Amazing level of detail!

I was curious about this actually recently. I assume they add them on periodically but I couldn't find out any details.

HOTAS device ID
noisy_lightning replied to noisy_lightning's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, sorted now. -
So I just did a fresh install of windows and upon installing and copying back my setting etc I find everything has restored correctly with the exception of the HOTAS and Rudder pedals and they have defaulted on binds. On digging into it the device name in game has a different name to the Lua files in the saved games input folders for each aircraft. I can't see where the random number is coming from within Windows so is this an id that is generated by DCS? If so can I easily alter it to enable the old bindings to work again or do I need to change the file names of each and every file to match the new device ID's? Sorry if this has been answered a hundred times, I did search but it's difficult know what exactly to search for and I didn't come across anything exactly the same.

Did I buy Nevada too early?
noisy_lightning replied to OutLord's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
I have no problems and going by the number online last night a lot of others don't either. Did you try and repair it, failing that from DCS remove the nttr module then install again, failing that full uninstall and installation Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -
Agree with the other posts but the only thing I use the profile software for is programming a macro to use the speed break switch on the throttle as a speed break button so that when it's released it brings in the speed brake. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

As mentioned you bind them within simple radio. I have two binds one for uhf and one for vhf radios. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Mi8 Noob, help with VRS
noisy_lightning replied to noisy_lightning's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Thanks for the tips, I have been putting it into practice tonight and it's slowly coming together. The biggest issue is moving from the sensitive Gazelle (cyclic wise) to the Mi8 but some tweaks to the curves have helped huge amounts there. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -
Hi guys I am new to the Mi8 but have a fair bit of time with the Gazelle module. So far I love this bird even if it did take some time to get used to with hovering compared to the Gazelle. My question is regards VRS, I understand the principles of getting out of it but seems like I have issues putting it into practice before I hit the ground. Are there any tell tales that VRS is about to be induced and specifically what's the best way to get away from it into forward flight?

Thank you for the canopy information, I was going crazy last night with only a few fps when every other module worked fine. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

The real life ones can do small loads (plenty of photos online) so it would be nice if we could lift the barrels or ammo crates in DCS. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

I notwithstanding yesterday as well. It's a nice addition. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Magnetic brake it's called. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

There are two trim options in the gazelle. The magnetic trim which works as you describe in the UH-1H but then a trim which works like a conventional fixed wing trim. I have both bound to my hotas but use mainly the magnetic trim. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

How to lubricate or grease throttle?
noisy_lightning replied to JazonXD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Lithium or PTFE Grease work a treat on my X55, no chance of abbrasion or negative effects on plastic from either. -
Problems with Model Viewer
noisy_lightning replied to Thor77's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Right click the icon in the task bar then click maximise. You may have to close it once you have done this and reopen but should sort it out.- 1 reply

It's the second notch on the power switch not the first to enable transmitting. Can't remember the marking for the switch as I am not at the computer. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

I just dial the frequency in and it seems to work when talking to the overlord/magic in game. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Worth taking a look at this just to rule it out. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -

I shall post some screenshots of my setup later on but I didn't have to use keyboard or mouse emulation and I have fully functional 6DOF. Zoom can be achieved by assigning the correct axis to zoom in game but I prefer the thumb axis on my throttle for that. I shall be home in a few hours so will sort the screen shots then.
