wish there was something like this but about the radar and the phoenix missile..
-
as i said, it sounded ridiculous to me also, but that's it.
-
I 'm not sure I get the logic
-
I'm not sure about it, but I read somewhere that the tung missiles have a sort of C-LOS tracking system which allows them to be directed without radar guidance. I would surmise it's something like the vikhr guidance, with an auto-tracker guiding the missiles over optical/IR channel. Since missiles are the "backup" weapon on that system, the designers probably accepted to have a missile with not a very high pK against maneuvering targets, yet remaining very dangerous to slow movers, especially helicopters - although an A-10 coming straight at it would be in danger also.
-
Typhoon has the same systems, only lacks stealth, yet - the stealth performance of the f-35 is yet to be evaluated. A number of analysis tend to agree on the fact that its angles are worse than those of the Raptor, worse even than those of the PAK-FA and the chinese 5th gen fighter. -the ECMs on both aircraft would be anyway probably confining the fight at WVR ranges, at which the typhoon is better in all possible situation (at least if they don't put rear firing AAMs on the lightning) The assumption that the f-35 is in the F-16 maneuverability class is wrong. I did fall for it as well, but reading around, to my surprise I discovered that the maneuverability of the lightning is in the Mig-21 class. It's not a fighter, point. It's a light attack plane, it can load and fire AAMs but if it accepts combat with fighters escortless it hasn't got many chance to come out winner.

i thought it was possible, by some .lua editing
-
did ya try it out? I'm kinda disappointed - they keep saying that ofc it's really early stage, but was expecting something different than world of modern tanks, and seems to me that in fact, that's the direction aw is going. Ideally, I would had loved something more akin to WT ground forces, but modern..

so basically u are suggesting that if I get an average of 40fps with my current rig, I wouldn't be compelled to upgrade ?(I 'm not one looking for 120 fps, I'm fine with whatever fps output I get, as long as it stays "fluid")
-
the op only mentioned the lightning and the typhoon - no raptors. imho, typhoon wins 8 times out of 10. It's a pure fighter - while the lightning is not. f-35 has some more chances in BVR, but in the merge it's toasted.

very nice

np man, nice to hear that :) -
I would say it's a bug. It wasn't like this before, pressing "TDC UP" would move the designator up. Now, all the times the designator seems to behave erratically, and I wouldn't say it's about stabilization and so on, I tested it while flying perfectly level on flat terrains and basically the designator never moves in the direction you want it to move, after the laser rangefinder is turned on. Since I normally (but I think almost everybody does it like me) correct the aimpoint almost constantly even after launching the missile, it means that it's almost impossible to hit anything. As the previous poster said, maneuvering the AC seems to correct the problem, at least in part, yet it isn't a very feasible solution having to rock your plane all around while you try to keep the pipper on the target.

I don't know if this is related, but I post it here without creating a new thread, since it's related to LOD. As u can see, the farthest end of the engine nacelles are lacking textures, this, when zoomed at the second or so level (if all zoomed in, the texture is there). See attached pic.

afaik it's for search, not acquisition

I had the same problem couple weeks ago, turns out that the client didn't like that I changed my online nickname (ran the repair utility and it made it right, although reverting my nick back to the previous one). U mention a total re-install, but I'd give the repair option a try, since it connects home and actually does some stuff - maybe some data on remote is corrupted. -
what? You ain't kidding right?
-
iirc it's a configurable parameter in the real plane, like most of the other elements of the hud. In the A-10C mod, which is DCS level, u get to actually manipulate that kind of features
-
there hasn't been updates for any mod for much time (besides the last mini patch for dcs world) - afaik, no more updates until DCS 2.0 is out
-
In an ideal world imho, LN would do something like Belsimtek has done so far, a blue plane and then its red counterpart. So, since the Tomcat is officially going to be released, I'd love to have the Foxhound next. Speaking about the F-14, I really hope LN gonna make it right, like they did with the Fishbed. I understand that the Tomcat is basically unclassified today, at least the A/B variants; although I really don't know if there are documents out there describing the AWG-9 radar and the Phoenix missile. Since this module has been announced I've had mixed feelings about it: on a side, I think it's an aircraft that simply must be present in DCS, one of those I'd get whatever the price. But, I'm kinda worried that, with a lack of information about its most important systems, it would end up being "gamey", basically in a OP way.

I totally dig it :)

Yep, that's what I meant. While with some fantasy effort the planes we currently have in DCS can be stuffed in the caucasus, the Viggen in itself without Swedish armed forces would be really a longshot. And I 'm saying this keeping that AC in my heart, I always liked the Viggen in particular, but also all the other Swedish military airplanes, bar the Gripen (I feel like the latter is a "globalized" fighter, something which is very peculiar to the previous swedish fighters got lost forever). If some map and some swedish content comes out, I would also really like having scenarios in which Sweden keeps its neutrality, think about a campaign in which as a swedish Viggen pilot you must defend the borders of your country from either NATO and Soviet bloc countries AC, which are fighting a war between them, maybe launching provocations on Sweden to drag it into war.. Also, somebody talked about a "small map for the F-14".. I hope it's not too small, because with Tomcats it ain't that you can have a 100 miles square to operate in.. The whole concept of that AC, it's radar and weapon system is "Long Range"..
-
jeez, I 'd love the Viggen, but none of the air forces currently in DCS ever flew it.. I mean, you have a fighter jet which is great in itself, but behind it, nothing that could "support" it in missions, campaigns and so on, as there is no Sweden in this sim.. If I could choose between it and a Mig-25 or 31 I'd pick the Mig anytime, at least in the context of the current DCS wold
-
I'd like both A and C. I don't understand how a border war would be possible between USSR and Georgia since Georgia was part of the USSR, but anyway. I'm literally saturated with the same caucasus players doing the same things all over, and getting away from the usual "Russia vs Georgia and NATO" thing would be blessing, even with the map being unrealistically "changed" to Korea or something.

lookin forward to the jug.. I wasn't interested in ww2 planes, but then i bought the p-51, and liked it. The p-47 is one of my absolute faves in ww2, will get it day one. Will never get german planes though - and I doubt british too. yet everything american or soviet is a sure buy to me.

does dcs 2 get released along with nevada or we'll have to wait some more for the new map?
