  5. Smoke from a fire blocks IR. It probably won't block thermal imaging but it will most likely block IR. ...and that wasn't the question btw. ALL AI units in DCSW have magical sight and I want to know if that is still the case.

  7. I almost don't dare to ask... Well... almost. Now that we have the new smoke effects in 2.2, has anyone checked whether they have any impact on AI? So if the big fat smoke column is between your helicopter and an enemy tank, so you cannot see the tank, does the tank still see you? +1rep for anybody who checks and reports back. :)
  8. Well, actually I don't even care too much how it looks. Those are just graphics. For me the important questions are: - do smoke and dust block AI sight? - how does the AI react to sudden explosions? Is there a moment of shock before they can return fire for example? - are blast and fragmentation modeled better now? - and if the above are answered with no: can we turn them off then? Such stuff is what this thread is about.

Yeah some of the visuals can have a big impact on gameplay under certain conditions (over wing vapor for example can be very useful to tell hat your opponent is starting to pull some Gs) which is why I don't say "meh only visuals" when talking about them. @Haukka: Spotting is a huge topic indeed. Things like reflections from the sun (or being blinded by it) or contrails on different altitudes will make that a lot more interesting (and in some cases easier I guess, especially for the low resolution guys like VR users).

  14. Just for clarification: Does that mean I can install DCSW on my gaming notebook as well so I can fly while I am on one of my business trips? Of course not at the same time I assume but... wow. That would be awesome.

  18. To be honest I am pretty sure they won't reply there either. It's just how they roll. Threads like that were just me being optimistic there would be something happening after all those years. Perhaps I should just stop trying to be helpful and go play something else.
  19. Indeed. Good suggestion. This will probably be even more important once we do carrier ops with the Hornet since there is not much space on a carrier, making collissions even more likely.
  20. Ok so another few months have passed and the WWII assets pack is taking a bit more shape. Is there anything new about this topic to report? Come on, don't be so shy, I won't ask for a release date. I just want to know whether this is at least planned.

  22. With the Hornet coming closer and closer I'd like to ask about that OLS trailer mod again. Anyone who wants to try that? I would be ready to dig up more info about the trailer if needed. :)
  23. I just read this thread and thought: Yeah, why not. Canopy damage and its consequences. I would probably not make it the highest priority, but I can imagine some gameplay aspects there that could really be interesting, especially when flying jets, fast and/or at high altitude. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=189316 EDIT: And yes, this is still a list of questions for Wags and/or ED developers. I really want to know what of this is planned or maybe even implemented already. Come on Wags, you said you'd like to talk about a few of those questions almost a year ago. :)
  24. He was also great in "The Pursuaders" along with the late Tony Curtis. I watched reruns of that show when I was youmg and loved it.
