  1. Hey that Zabrak wasn't always that evil either! :D OK seriously: I think we all can improve, and it is nice to hear you see that the same way, Sithspawn. Most of the time we are doing OK here I think. Even though I am not always happy here I very well remember times when it was much worse.
  2. Yes they do. They are very effective against that type of target.
  3. Great video and I am happy for you that you got this far. But the only thing I read is "We hope to get it finished in 2017". Yeah. HOPE. Two AFMs in a year and it sounds like you haven't even started coding? Sorry, but that is disappointing, no matter how great the rest of the planes looks or works. I wish you all the best, but this is not good news. It makes me sad because I want to fly those planes. And that means AFM and nothing else.
  4. Good question. Most of the essential stuff was working the last time I checked, but I missed one or two levers on the top panel and the door handle for example.

    Yay thanks for the update!
  6. Happy 2017!
  7. Hey welcome back!
  8. Awww.... I had kinda hoped for the EFM. Thanks for the update anyway! It is always good to see progress. :)
  9. Ok, now I understand your point. Granted, VR isn't feeling real. It is no holodeck. From that point of view: Yes, we are far away still. The aspects where real improvements happened during the last five years is visuals. Getting the stereoscopic 3D and the tracking finally right, as well as the data transfer with acceptable lag. Tactile stuff is actually worked on already, but of course some stuff you mentioned remains and will remain for quite some time. I think you mentioned the big ones. I probably wouldn't say VR will never be able to do that, but I admit it is hard without actually going into your brain or moving your body. Both are dangerous and not necessarily desirable. That being said, I am positive VR is on a good way to become good enough so, like you said, after some getting used to it it can be pretty awesome and really enhance our gaming experience in almost every game. :)
  10. Looks pretty nice! :)
  11. yay!
  12. Same here. I have three version installed and will install a fourth one if necessary.
  13. Yeah, IMO it would be silly if we couldn't use all units on all maps, regardless of type. Also using the A-10C against WWII tanks will be loads of fun. :D
  14. I can't tell if you are serious, sorry. Disregard my next paragraph if you aren't. I respectfully disagree. I have seen what they called VR 15 years ago and it was laughable. I also think we are not quite there yet, but if you only look at what the Vive can do with its clunky controllers and bad resolution you have to admit that the developers are on a good way. There is some stuff working in VR right now that I called outright impossible ten years ago, let alone 15. Same for Leap Motion. It might still be inaccurate now, but the things that are working already are a big step.
  15. Yeah that's really bad. :( EDIT: Fun fact: I thought that the really bad sounding sonic boom was an error of my speakers or sound card or something until I read about it...
  16. Happy Holidays to y'all!
  17. Definitely! I need big AAA guns in modern missions. The acht-acht will be sufficient. :)
  18. +1 to that!
  19. Thanks for sharing!
  20. Welcome to the Huey club! Initially you think "MAN, that thing is hard to fly", but if you get your settings adjusted and get used to it for some hours it flies great and is a lot of fun. :)
  21. I also think that should be fixed. Even outside of a cockpit, at airshows with props you can tell that when something as loud as a P-51 Mustang engine starts up less than 50m away from you, you almost can't hear a AN-2 at full takeoff power 200m away from you. It is much worse for the pilot. So as (almost) always I vote for the more realistic option. Determine if sim is in internal view, determine if engine is running. If both statements are true, mute every sound from outside that happens more than 50m away, probably with the exception of explosions or sonic booms. That may not be really realistic either (almost nothing in the sim is, and that's ok), but it is at least more believable. Does that hamper situational awareness? Yeah, sure, as it should. Planes are loud. If you don't turn your head (and plane if necessary) and look around you are doing it wrong.
  22. Agree. LODs are higher priority than animations IMO. My main problem in understanding the code at the moment is that I haven't worked with Blender since 2009 or so and thus much of the nomenclature inside the scripts requires me to look up what is what. :D Good work with the collision shells!
  23. Same here. For me setting it manually ranks somewhere between Voodoo and Grander water. I could never measure any significant positive effect on DCSW.
  24. I can also recommend DDU, it worked once for me when everything else failed.
