  1. 5600 feet isn't very high. Try the same test from 10-15K feet. Will likely see a greater difference at lower wind speeds.
  2. As long as your in the airfield area, you can get repaired. Not sure exactly what defines the area, but if you're somewhere off the runway (ie, grassy field near runway) you can be repaired. Problem is you may not be able to get back to runway. In some areas, if you are not on a paved taxi way, runway or ramp, you might be stuck. Sometimes full engine can get you moving.
  3. Unless repairing, I don't even shutdown. Just stop, open canopy, hit LALT+', close canopy, wait for fuel and stores t complete. Leave. :)
  4. cich·lid /ˈsiklid/ Noun A perchlike freshwater fish of a family (Cichlidae) widely distributed in tropical countries. Cichlids provide a valuable source of food...
  5. someone once posted around here somewhere what codes were viable. I don't recall which, but they did seem a bit odd in values. As an aside, the codes only work with live players (ie, you and another human). Setup a short mission with an ai A10 with only gbu12s and as near as I could tell, there was no laser being utilized, though the bomb acted as though there was (in-flight correction) and hit target dead on.
  6. in some instances online, you cannot view outside your plane and if you happen to be at an airbase you are not familiar with, it can be a bit disorienting. This is what I do. I usually ask for permission to start up but if I don't know where i'm at, that is a little hard. So I will start up the plane as normal (w/o contacting ATC). Once everything is ready, I check the CDU for divert base. It always shows you the closest airbase and frequency to contact them. Once I know where I'm at, I'll use F10 to view the map of that airbase. So now I know WHERE I'm at, I've set my HSI to runway direction (from ATC), then start taxiing. I may not know exactly where I was parked but after looking around a bit and following the taxi ways, along with HSI, I'll have a very good idea of where I'm at on the airbase and where to go for the runway.
  7. An IR missile will do exactly that.
  8. Had a similar issue, but found that the laser/ir pointer doesn't work with flaps deployed. I was very high and going very slow and was using the flaps to maintain lift. Was wondering why the laser wasn't working. Closed flaps and all worked as it should. I knew that Mav's wouldn't launch with flaps down, but didn't realize the laser/pointer wouldn't as well.
  9. Hmmm....maybe they couldn't laser/pointer designate? Gonna have to try this out. Update: works as advertised. However, still have serious issues with 'no mark' in that even with a clear view of target, JTAC is unable to mark the target in any way (wp, ir, laser), or at best,, only randomly capable of marking the target. MGRS/LL coordinates and SADL data all are ok, though.
  10. Haven't checked recently, but can unarmed HMMWVs be used for JTAC now? In previous versions, unarmed vehicles were not usable.
  11. You can set advanced waypoint actions, and give it a specific target. Here's an example: a B-1B unloading a half-load of MK-82s (2x) on a couple columns of armor. In this case, it's just attacking a location, that happens to have armor in it. There are also ways to specify a group or unit, just have to change the commands used. carpet bagger.miz
  12. Not correct at all. The MWS (missile warning system) will alert you for ANY missile. The RWR (radar warning system) is just that: it warns you of all radar emissions, search and track. If you get a MWS alert, assume it's aimed at you and react accordingly (start popping flares, evasive maneuvers), or risk getting shot down. It could be tanks firing at each other. Could be a helicopter attacking armor. Could be a MANPAD flying straight up your six. If you get a RWR warning, turn on your jammer. If you get a track warning, assume a missile launch is imminent, start popping chaff, evasive maneuvers.
  13. I think for the MLRS, it might take a couple minutes before they start. It's been a while since I've looked much into it, though, so it might have changed.
  14. They are two completely different things. What is it you are trying to do?
  15. Should've added the screenshot as well.
  16. Don't blow your stack arguing how to do it... ...instead, just use the right tool. :) blowing your stack.trk
  17. ED has nothing to worry about. It was never used with the modeled A10C in DCS, so it will never be added.
  18. What Smokey said. 1. place any of the previously mentioned units (fyi, TR is for Tracking Radar). 2. while that unit is till highlighted, increase the number of units to 3 (you will now have 3 identical units) 3. click on the 2nd unit and change to one of the others. Do the same for the last unit Now you should have a single group with 1 LN (launch vehicle), 1 SR (search radar) and 1 TR (tracking radar) I would, now, not fly too close.:joystick:
  19. No, that's incorrect. Half of that is time 0.0-4.0 is 0-4 mins, which is how long it takes to complete the alignmient. The 2nd set of number #.#-0.8 is the 'error' of posiition, in nm I believe. Number starts high, and as it align it gets smaller and smaller until it reaches 0.8. As to the previous question regarding NAV INS ready, that starts blinking when Navigational INS is ready. However, other instruments require better positioning than what is used for INS. Your TGP needs the data so that when your pointing at something with it, you can set a SPI and attack targets. If you don't allow full alignment, precision weapons like JDAMS will never hit their target and your SPI won't be accurate.
  20. I would not recommend parking inside a hangar (where a lot of mp missions have you spawn). You'll never get out. Pick an empty location, taxiiway that's maybe out of the way or even one of those arming/refuel pits (if available.)
  21. I'll sometimes just park on a taxiiway, usually right in front of where a/c spawn. If no one is there, I'll be done before anyone arrives and if someone spawns, I can move a bit.
  22. You need the APU on and the APU generator on UNTIL BOTH engines are at speed and both engine generators are on. The APU generator provide all the electrical power until the engine generators are at full speed. Once the engines are at full speed, and their generators are providing full power, you can then shut off the APU generator and APU. (if landing for refuel/rearm, you can start the APU and turn on APU generator or ask for Ground power before shutting down engines. This way your electronics won't shut down as well) With regards to APU and engine start, this is MY procedure: Battery switch ON. Inverter switch ON. Right/left engine generators ON. Left/right wing/fuselage fuel switches ON. Turn on APU. Once APU reaches 100, flip APU generator ON. Start left engine. Once engines start light goes out, start Right engine. Once Engine start light goes out, turn APU Generator OFF. Turn APU off. During all this, silence any alarms as they occur.
  23. I just attempted it, after not having done so for a couple years. Was going to send the Heli on a SW route (over city, I believe) and had taken out several apcs and at least 1 AAA. I was looking for pilot but wingman called bingo. I turned and contacted Tanker. Apparently, the tanker was going down in flames a moment later as my TACAN indicater started spinning. I was out of fuel and no tanker, so I ended the mission. It showed on debrief that an F15 hit the tanker while refueling and they both crashed. What I would suggest, is to go to mission editor and open up the campaign mission you wish to fly, then SAVE AS (can change name or leave; I'll add 'new' or something to indicate different from downloaded version). Now try flying it, after it's been saved with your installed version of DCS. If you're still having issues, you might try editing the mission and reviewing flights/triggers/etc, and see if anything that you think should be happening but isn't. As an example, the first thing I checked was the previously mentioned F15 flights not attacking. Since in my case, the Russian CAP never left their orbit, I couldn't say the F15s would not have engaged. Their waypoints seemed ok, and they were set to CAP (in my experience, the most aggressive setting for attacking enemy flights.)
  24. After repair, you should be good to go. Also, post a .trk file or it didn't happen :) Actually, a .trk file will help in diagnosing what went wrong. More than likely it was a switch you thought was on but wasn't. This happened to me last week. Couldn't get my APU going, and when it did, it would spool part way then shut down. Found my inverter switch off.
  25. Where's the optimism? "When facing a difficult task, act as though it is impossible to fail. If you're going after Moby Dick, take along the tartar sauce." I bring 6 Mavs and 4 CBU-97s; after I've toasted the SAMs, I flambe' the armor. :P
