  1. Will ED release black shark as a flyable for Flaming cliffs ? As an included item in a patch to bring new life into flaming cliffs or maybe as an additional payware add on ?
  2. Back on the wind topic. IL2 has wind gust, they can be quite violant as well. Once instance was that we created a base on the top of a mountain. We set the weather to poor - but not stormy and taxiing out was a definite challenge. I still remember seeing an a-10 that had just lined up on the runway suddenly lift the windward wheel up smashing the other wing into the ground and spinning him round. You really had to be on your toes on that map under the right conditions. Sure the wind is pre-programmed and does not use fuid physics. But il2 is an old game and the gusts certainly feel real and work quite well for scripting
  3. Too right mate !!
  4. OMG !!!! Well let me give you a little AUSTRALIAN advice here fellas, and lets be honest......... By the sounds of it you need it. So for your benefit. Here is a little famous saying that will explain all and make your lives easier. .............................. What do you say to a woman with two black eyes ?????? ............................ Nothing. You already told her twice !!!! ;-)
  5. That is within reason, of course. It totally depends on the amount and density of the obstruction. Radar, by its very nature has that limitation. If you are completely blocked then radar won't detect you. The blade flash signature in a radar return is enhanced and used to detect and classify helicopter targets. Its not a magic see through obstruction ability.
  6. To be honest. no. Your best chance of avoidance will be low in a deep canyon. However a high flying fighter will still paint you if they know what they are doing. But realistically, if the fighter is not distracted by another fighter, you are pretty much dead meat. You may evade a few missiles, but he's gonna get ya. But here are a few things you can do to help. On start up in the 25t - start your IR Jammers straight away. Do not use radar jammers unless you have to. (its a come and get me sign from a long way away) 25's come with loads of flares and chaff. - Go nuts with them, they make you look pretty and can save your bacon. Use the notching technique for radar threats. High speed, hard turns. <Most important> Fly with fighter cover. Though saying that i have snuck up onto my target area a few times unopposed with no cover and have even had the joy to say an F-15 flew straight past me and i got him with R-73's (though in his defense he was in enemy territory and his RWR would have been keeping him occupied). Its a hard job being a frog pilot. That is why we are better than the rest ;-)

  8. To be honest. No matter what plane you are flying, you should be using rudders for ALL turns. pedals will give you more accuracy over rudder travel than a twist stick. Get them, you won't look back. Also if you are about the simulation side of things. Then flying with pedals add to the immersion.
  9. Its agreed then. The most hardcore plane and biggest underdog is the SU 25T Even GG Tharos said so, I would qoute him, but there are too many posts with him agreeing :music_whistling:
  10. But you said this "Sure, you're missing the asymmetric payload issues and some of the extreme envelope problems" Not to mention you can taxi, land, take off and grass roll any SFM plane without threat of any major harm. There is a big difference in realism between the flight models of those two planes. Its not a case of being more difficult. Its a case of being more realistic. E.g. Those fighterjocks screaming round the taxiways like a touring car race. Yeah right
  11. Well it has to be the 25-t hands down. Its the most hardcore as it is the only plane in lock on with a Advanced Flight Model. Its the underdog as it is not as manouverable by far in comparison to the A-10. It can only hold 2 fire and forget ordanances where the A-10 can carry a lot more. And the two it can carry are daytime usage only. So most hardcore plane to fly online is Su-25t Biggest underdog - SU-25t Therefore ....... Most satisfying plane to fly - SU25t But don't get me wrong. Flown right and with fighter cover - its lethal !!! Its the only plane i fly !!!
  12. Saitek all the way. Good spacing, good feel and programable. Good price too !!
  13. As this is a flight / combat sim, that should be the case of park up and spend a penalty time for repairs to be completed. No more than 4 minutes. This isn't a mechanics or technicians sim. Where is the playability if you are hit and are forced to return to base on one engine after dumping all loads to not be able to fly again as you have to wait 2 weeks for your helo to be repaired. DCS is not implementing a dynamic campaign where numbers of available craft + logistics are paramount to each mission. Therefore correct repair and re-arm time are not a concern. For the instances of full realism in a single mission, there should be an option to toggle respawn or repair. That way if you are damaged, bad luck, you are out. But to be honest, that will already limit a campaigne editor that is short on options upon initial release.
  14. You sure that works viper. A bud of mine tried your little trick and said that trees were still not solid and there was less of them. Of course, we could have done it wrong. I didn't try it, as me and config's don't mix - until someone gives me the instruction in plane dumbo english
  15. Well if FSX modelled systems in any fidelity that equated to some form a credability then i don't give a rats arse what the lighting is like in the pit. I WOULD 100% ALL THE TIME CHOOSE A CORRECTLY MODELLED AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL PIT OVER THE CRAP THAT MSFSX PRODUCES EVEN IF IT DOES HAVE PRETTY LIGHTING
  16. @ Red Tiger. You are right. However you have to remember that you are operating a sim. And that most important part of this is that you will not have all the switches available to you in real life to touch. Sure in a real cockpit i can intstinctively move my hand to the approximate position of a switch or dial with only a quick glance to make sure i have the right one before i operate it. That unfortunately you can't do with a basic hotas. However, you can if you have enough money. You have modern Hotas that have many programmable buttons that will take care of many functions for you. However these buttons won't be situated in the correct place as a real cockpit (who mainly arrange instruments and buttons in a specific manor to aid the pilot). You could then progress to have add on items like touchbuddy or configurable MFD panels. Again, this will give you greater switchology (at a hefty price) but won't accurately simulate the correct positions of the buttons. THe only real answer for realism is to build your own pit. BUt that is the extreme on the price scale and only a few dedicated people have the funds or patience to do that. So unfortunately we wil have to suffice with what we can afford to use. But thanks to products like X-52 and the myriad of programmable buttons, this will make switchology a lot easier even though it won't accurately replicate the switches 100%. However, despite this this downfall (and its only a small one IMHO). You have to remember one very important thing. Flying is all about being ahead of the craft. Most of the switchology is down on the ground and shortly after take off where the major amount of configuration changes are needed. Things like flight plans, ingress and egress profiles, diversion fields, pressures, nav aids, radio channels etc are mostly configured or chosen to standby before the flight takes place. Sure you can change everything on the fly but a correct preflight will have you not changing much unless in an emergency situation levaing you to concertrate on status checks and wepon profiles mostly. So in essence your workload should be less than you expect if you have planned your flight correctly and propperly set up in preflight. In the case of things going pear shaped (and lets be honest - most likely will as you are taking the KA-50 into Battle). If you are becomming overrun with workload and can't keep "in-front of the aircraft". Simply asses the situation, pull back. Auto hover (or even land if you like) in your pre selected egress safety area and reconfigure your craft for any changes you need. Once configured for your changed plans you can resume flight (or take off again) with only weapons systems and status checks to make sure all is good. At least in a helo you can park up somehwere to gather your thought (if you can).
  17. Looks great but no shots of it flying
  18. You know you can change your fire settings to not fire all missiles at once. I usually have set to fire continuously when triger is drepressed. That way it usually fires 3 per pod on first squeeze and 2 on the second squeeze. Hold down trigger for all 5 to go off
  19. x -52 here and its a great stick. But more importantly. Siatek Pro rudders are brilliant. My personal preferance from what i have researched is that i would take siatek rudders over CH And i am glad i did
  20. I have no problem with smoothness with my siatex pro rudders. To be honest, when i was researching them, some distributors said they were better than CH. I don't rightly know. I don't own CH. But if they are closer together than saitek, they would piss me off. Saitek work great and i can't fault them, and the width is pretty much similar to the plane i fly RL
  21. Care to send me a little more info on it Viper ?
  22. Actually the terrain in Lomac ranges from flat to very mountainous. with a large area of both. Even if terrain is flat, you have other bits of terrain masking available to you. A building is just as good as a mountain in some cases.
