  1. As I'm getting the warthog this week, I will probably try to shorten my Extension. Might wait until the warthog arrives.
  2. DM, I'll have to get back to you on that. It's a cougar parts supplier I think through TM, but a friend of mine was ordering parts. He sent off my small list (both gimbals, center post, 2 pots) and it came out to around 20 something before shipping. Btw, I'm assuming this extension would work fine for the Warthog since it only uses magnets and ball joint... Correct?
  3. You're not belittling anyone. I just bought the warthog, so if something happens to the gimbals it's a cheap fix (cost $23) to get those parts for the cougar.
  4. Crescendo, I'm not sure why you're saying to use a 30+ degree dive angle. All my shots regardless of target type are around 10 - 15 degrees with 95%+ kill ratio. Depending on terrain or altitude, I'll increase it as needed, but typically I'm low in the weeds when going in for a gun shot. If you watch any video of the A-10s at the ranges, they all use a shallow angle. Also, performing a split S maneuver places you over the target. That's the last area you should be. a pop up would be better. As for your box, rectangle pattern, this is the optimum usage by actual Hog drivers and keeps you flying inbound to target on a specific heading. I try to teach the one as it keeps everyone attacking without running into each other.
  5. Migo, Sent you a PM for the Warthog. Wife said I can buy it, and she'll send you the payment later today when you send me the info. (I would have written the PM in German, but my writing skills are terrible. hehe)
  6. Avlolga, please keep in mind for future reference that when quoting someone with pictures, most of us don't need to see the pics twice Especially if you are only replying with some smilies. Double posting the pictures uses up bandwidth.
  7. In thinking about editing the sound files, I tried to reason with why you would want to at all. Fly actual aircraft with headsets and earplugs is much different than flying a sim without the feedback from the sound. In the actual, you can feel the thrust or drag or the oncoming stall. In the sim, we have none of that, so the engine noise is there to help us.
  8. Mike, any chance you plan on making gauges like Alt, VVI, Airspeed so the rest of us can buy them? I think the only way I'd understand most of this stuff is if you came over and physically made one with me. (beer would be on me).
  9. I decided to use an example from Dimebug with the garden hose connectors. Over here in Germany, the Aluminum Foil is wrapped around a pretty solid tube - kind of like the paper towel tube, but stronger. It's about 1 foot long, roughly. It was the right diameter to use as an extension, and with the PS2 extension all shoved inside of it (couldn't find a smaller one than 6ft) the shaft is very sturdy. It took only about an hour to make, with some cutting and proper fitting. The spring force of the cougar is very light now, although with the little bit of center play I have, I have to move the stick a few inches around 1.5" before I'm applying force. It's not too bad. I did a flight test with it, adjusted my curves for the extension, and did a few touch and goes plus AAR without an issue. Next up, ordering the cardboard cockpit kit, then making part of the kitchen into my mancave! (don't tell my wife!) The area above the stick in the second picture is my desk. (ignore all the wires) This is where it worked out perfect. Putting the case for my drill under the base - with my desk chair it was still a little low and this works perfect... I also didn't want to go any longer with the extension incase I get the warthog or build an ejection seat - I have about an inch to 2 inches above the top of the stick, so I can store it under the desk without a problem.
  10. I'm very interested in this. I have a few questions though... have you tried the pit with pedals on the base? If so, when using the pedals, does the pit shake? On the top side parts of the pit, between the front panel and back plate is a space. Do you plan on making a cover for those sides, or leaving it open? I noticed you started work on the side panel (right side I believe). Will that be part of the package too? Lastly, any idea at all what this will all cost? I kind of don't have the time or money to build my pit, and having this would be a great "my pit until..." kind of thing.
  11. That looks great and is something similar to what I thought about doing.
  12. I can understand what you're saying, but this still goes back to the point I've made a few times about how ED should make a single and tandem version of whatever they make next. This way those that fly alone can fly alone, and those that want to fly with someone online have the option to.
  13. The new aircraft will be either the F-16 or F-18 according to Wags new Avatar. I'm thinking they should do both to make everyone a little happy, but there should still be 2-seater and single seat variants.
  14. nothing too exciting??? Red, you've got us all drooling to have the same thing when you get this finished! I do hope you'll share the secret and software to make this work with DCS.
  15. If they made an H-60 version of a helo, you could have the SH-60 Seahawk "Angel" to use for if the F/A-18E/F gets made... Or the navy/USAF MH-60 Nighthawk for CSAR, plus the standard UH-60. I'm sure someone could or would paint the SH version into many of the different country SAR helos...
  16. Red, if you get this working with the sim, you definitely need to let us know how. I've seen some good looking ADIs on Ebay for pretty cheap, but wouldn't know the first thing about getting it hooked up to the sim.
  17. Being in the process of reading all of the Jake Grafton series books by Stepen Coonts, I too would love an A-6E...KA-6B tanker, with an EA-6B electronic warfare bird. Alas, the days of the Intruders, Tomcats, Vikings, and Corsairs have all gone to the SuperBug and Growler.
  18. Hey Dime, are you planning on making extra extensions and selling... or sharing your info on them?
  19. Funny thing I was thinking about this last night on my way home from work. I have the older Cougar and would love to get an extension that I can later put on the warthog... So if you hear about it, can you PM me?
  20. That would also be good for surround view outside the cockpit... if you're building a cockpit with projection screens.
  21. Panel, you should make a bunch of these (engine instruments/standby gauges) so we can all get our hands on them.
  22. UGH! I really wish I could watch these videos. Why are there so many stupid rules here in Germany!
  23. WRF, using the USB monitors works ok? I thought DCS couldn't run the MFDs over USB. Also, have you taken off the bezel around the monitor to try and get a tighter fit? I know that due the ratio, the 7" isn't tall enough, but you might be able to get it to sit better (or I might be able to when I can buy these). @Laurius: If you happen to get the 8" monitors, and they work, LET US KNOW! hehe
  24. That's it! We're going old school with the F-5E Tiger II (for those that want the E model of something)... or is it the MiG-28, I can't tell... :megalol:
  25. Ignore this post. I just bought my ipad yesterday, and I'm still trying to figure things out. I'll edit this if I have any more issues regarding setting up the ipadpit. EDIT: Is there a way to get the CDU screen only? I have the Thrustmaster MFDs and will be using those buttons. I mainly wanted the ipadpit for the CDU part. Having the MFD on the screen negates that since I would like to always have the CDU info on the CDU on the ipad instead of it changing when I select MAV or TGP.
