  1. You can get switches that closely match the warthog throttle for fairly cheap. I paid 2.50€ for each on/off, and the look exactly like the APU switch.
  2. PB, you'd have a VERY happy crowd of geeks if you could manufacture gauges for the pit, working and ready to go of course or even as a kit, for each gauge: Alt, IAS, VVI, Fuel, Hyd, all engine/APU gauges... I'd definitely buy a full set ASAP.
  3. The guy that made this really did an awesome job. Here's the "building" thread to how he made the "Warthind". http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=232706&st=0&p=2219006&fromsearch=1&

  5. Honeywell flat top locking toggle switches (for the CMSP or AHCP) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leaver-lock-Honeywell-switch-F16-Simulator-SIM-Pannel-/280764754041?hash=item415ee22879&item=280764754041&pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&vxp=mtr VVI: This is from a 737, but already servoed with Open Cockpits board. Power supply and software needed. Someone could probably easily make this into a working A-10 VVI. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boeing-737-IVSI-Vertical-Speed-Indicator-Servoed-Simulator-/230727412817?hash=item35b86cec51&item=230727412817&pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&vxp=mtr
  6. That'd be a real nice seat to put a box around in the shape of an ejection seat. Definitely more comfortable. Wish there was a junkyard near me. Closest one is around 150 miles away, and the normal person isn't allowed to buy parts like I used to do back home stateside.
  7. I'm not sure if this had been posted a while back, but thought I would share it for anyone who hasn't seen it. http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2011/05/dcs-10c-reminds-gamers-what-real.html
  8. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the answer. I thought it was just a weird reflection which I have seen from my flying days.
  9. That picture does look real and awesome, but a question... why are the roads in the shadow of the mountain so bright?
  10. Your best bet is to ask some of the others like Pitbldr or Gadroc as they are the ones working with the acrylic. I'm doing my panels out of wood for now.
  11. Most of the "buttons" you see on panels being made are out of the same acrylic that the panels are cut from. They are typically 2 pieces, the top engraved layer and the larger base area, to allow the button to be held behind the panel.
  12. I'm almost done with a basic Elec panel (will be buying one soon). Once you have toggle switches and a Leo bodnar card, try some tests first. I didn't do any soldering to start, just laid the wires on the connectors on the switch, and plugged them into the Leo. When the software showed it worked, I then soldered the wire. I'm not much better than you in electronics, but if I can help get you started, let me know. Most of it is trial and error for me.
  13. I'm all for this. Actually everything Rocketeer said. I have my basic pit (monitor, HOTAS Warthog, and TM MFDs) at my desk. It's so basic it looks like I just got into flight simming. I am however building my actual pit on the side, testing the connections, adding and updating things, buying realistic looking panels. What I have so far doesn't do justice to even take pictures of, but I can still fly. Keep yourself on the basic and work slow from there... just make sure you allow yourself to fly now and then.
  14. Dive, that had to do with your sounds mods. I was only mentioning that since Paul works on the A-10C, that maybe he could help you out. I meant no disrespect, and wasn't in any way hijacking your thread.
  15. I think Paulrkiii should take a sound recording while sitting in the pit, and doing a walk around. If there's one thing that bugs me, it's the outside view sounds when panning the camera around the jet. From front to rear, the sounds don't change but the volume does. The sounds are completely different front to back.
  16. Yes please. I started this thread to spread the news of US aircraft being sold to other countries... not to start a political "who's better than the other" kind of thread. That being said, the sale was voted on and Saudi Arabia bought the F-15.
  17. Same to you Caspet, and all of ED and the rest of you virtual pilots! (already almost 2am here)
  18. How about an actual CDU touch screen? hehe http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Boeing-757-Aircraft-CDU-Touch-Screen-Control-Panel-Collins-DLC-800-/320820630660?pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&hash=item4ab2665484
  19. Yep, for those with limited money for switches, being able to set multiple sim switches to a single switch will make things easier and cheaper.
  20. I can confirm that you can set multiple switches to 1 toggle. I had set my BAT switch to when on, it turns on the Battery and the 4 boost pump switches. For now it saves me the 4 switches, especially since I'm no where near the Fuel panel.
  21. Yeah if that works, I'll steal an elec switch for the 4 fuel switches, and make 1 for the 2 ac gen switches. I only have a couple for now since we spent so much on Xmas stuff this year... If I can at least get the startup without touching the mouse (ahcp will have to wait) i'll be happy for now until I finish cutting my panels.
  22. I also went to PM because the person will get an email about it, rather than going unnoticed in the thread. Rag, actually the wife switched the toggles a few times. I definitely need another Leo board and about 30 toggles so i can get most of the panels done. This is so much better than mouse clicks. Too bad I only have a couple toggles. Oh, btw, is there a way to set 1 toggle for multiple things... Ie: 1 toggle to set the 4 fuel switches in the startup, or is that not possible? I'll play around with it tomorrow after I cut out my Elec pane and start wiring up my UFC from PitBldr.
  23. Woo Hoo, it works! The problem was in the DCS profile. All is good. Even my wife is happy, hehe.
  24. Ragtop, I need some help (I'll send you a quick PM too). If I put my switch in the DCS setting, it sees it, with the same problem you had of having to switch twice for it to go off. I then followed your steps for Helios. Helios sees my On/Off switch when I switch it, but when I go into DCS (without the toggle in the settings) the battery switch doesn't do anything. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
