[A-4E Community Mod] - Guides And Tutorials Only
Scotch75 replied to Saab-FAN's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
At work at the moment, if a remember correctly there are 2 black rotary knobs near the nav computer. As soon as electric power is supplied turn the master to STBY, it will take a couple of minutes to warm up. Once warmed up, turn it to LAND or SEA as appropriate. Put in your dest lat/long and mag ver if you know it (may not be modelled, but its not that big in PG). Once airborne turn the other switch to D1. Flick the toggle (right of the HSI) up to NAV COMP. The needle will give you the heading like an ADF but you also get distance in nautical miles. Gets me well within visual range (tested on PG with smoked targets). Again, only going from memory after a couple of hours flying around today but hopefully it will give you the general gist. Cheers! -

And the rudimentary nav computer is awesome too. Put in the destination lat - long, then fly the needle, quite accurate. Cheers! -
NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod

Ok, after some testing, this problem seems to disappear when you select shadows to FLAT in the game settings. If set to LOW MED or HIGH, the glitch returns. -

Thanks Skate, Please find attached the dcs log. I don't know where to find the ModelViewer2 Log. I also noticed this only seems to happen when the canopy is down. When parked and the canopy is open, it all looks normal until you close the canopy again. Regards dcs_log.doc -
NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod

To the community A-4 crew, Wow.... what a brilliant effort guys. I'm sure Gos is looking down and beaming with pride for what the team has accomplished. Well done! A couple of things... 1. Is there a way of programming in preset TACAN frequencies (if enabled)? 2. Attached are a couple of screenshots of the canopy texture artefacts as described previously by another user, for Alex to have a look at (running latest OB). Many thanks and kind regards Scotch -
Hey Skate, a quick side question regarding custom skins in mp.. Normally you would install a personal custom skin in .../savedgames/liveries/.... So when a skin pack is provided, do these go in the savedgames as well, or do they get installed within dcs? I guess there would have to be net communication to show that Player X is using a partucular personal skin, different to Player Y. Cheers!

Same here, either by HOTAS binding or default key "C".
-
Maybe due to the older engines requiring longer spool up time so a higher altitude buffer (minima) was in place for a larger safety margin. Just an educated guess.
-
IIRC, for FC3 aircraft, you can set the frequencies and radios in an excel file, then bind a key or button to "next radio" or "next frequency" to cycle through. So they can be considered as "virtual radios". It's in Ciribob's YT tutorial.

Guide - Enhancing head movement on TrackIR
Scotch75 replied to Rudel_chw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Cheers @GregP. But which application will take precedence? Or does the "zoom normal" (NUM ENTER key) centre the view as well? -
Yes, the Royal Australian Navy operated A-4Gs from the carrier HMAS Melbourne, then sold them to RNZAF once the carrier was decommissioned.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it could be a steering guide, used mainly for entering/exiting harbours.

Toggle Switch for Altitude Select
Scotch75 replied to Scotch75's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Ok, I inserted that line into the default.lua, all it did was make all of the device bindings disappear in the Options/Controls GUI under F/A-18C Sim tab. I couldn't find the new line in the list of commands. -

So the line you provided is in addition to those already in the file and over-rides them in the GUI? -
Toggle Switch for Altitude Select
Scotch75 replied to Scotch75's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Many thanks LeCuvier. I'm still a little confused. I looked at that file earlier and found the 3 coded lines that pertain to this Altitude Select button further down, it seemed to exist in the file (although maybe not exactly as you have typed above). Or is that just the file DCS reads to display it in the options GUI page? Sorry for my lack of understanding -
Hey Folks, I'm trying to map the Altitude Select (BARO/RDR) function in the F18 to thr RDR ALTM switch on the TM Warthog Throttle, which is JOY_BTN25. This does not appear in the Special Keys section. Would someone be able to walk me through this please? I'm ok editing .lua files, but I have no idea what to copy and paste into where etc... eg, Saved Games structure or the game installation structure. Muchly appreciated

Hmmmm.... I thought I did have that knob on Mission. Well, I'll try it next time I fly. Thanks again [emoji106]

Hey folks, Sorry for another possibly simple question. In the CDU how do you deactivate a flight plan? It seems once a flight plan is in, you are restricted to those waypoints. I've been trying to work out how to just type in a waypoint (eg Creech AFB) and just fly to it with steering info. All the system seems to want to do is overwrite the current waypoint (in the active plan) with the name/identifier only but keep the same coordinates. Many thanks

Guide - Enhancing head movement on TrackIR

Yeah, I was wondering which server.lua file (location) takes precedence. The default one, or the .../saved games/... one? Could they be conflicting? -
Guide - Enhancing head movement on TrackIR
Scotch75 replied to Rudel_chw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey Folks, many thanks for this guide and discussion. One question though: How do I get my TrackIR centre (run through TrackIR software) to be the same as my default view? After using zoom in/out to look for ground movers, I'd like to just hit my TrackIR centre keypress to return to default view/FOV. Cheers! -

Scotch75 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
A proud new owner of an F-14 here too [emoji1] I remember seeing them for real in about 1987 when the USS Constellation visited Fremantle, I was able to get onboard with the Air Force cadets. Wow, they were a huge aircraft. Well done Heatblur! Cheers! -
Ok thanks Wrench. I'll try that out next time flying [emoji106]

Many thanks Frederf, that's a good technique. Prior to becoming airborne (sitting in the jet on the apron) does the CDU show you the distance between waypoints so you can do a quick calculation of the the DTOT eg between #5 and #6? I tend to fly the flightplan that is pre-loaded with the mission eg Red Flag.
