Precision-Guided Munitions - GBU-38 won’t drop
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Mission and Campaigns
OK, just flew the mission again and was very slow and deliberate with each step and the bomb did indeed separate. I did, however, notice that I had to hold TMS Up Long several times before the target was properly designated. Watching the previous track back again I noticed that although I was holding the TMS Up Long on each of the passes over the target I made, the Lightening Pod designator never switched to "POINT". maybe it was sloppy flying on my part, maybe the TGP was too far off the gimbal limits... Thanks for the support as always Bignewy. -
Precision-Guided Munitions - GBU-38 won’t drop

I don’t recall, but being as the training mission is an air start, I would assume that the INS is aligned correctly. I’ll check. -
Precision-Guided Munitions - GBU-38 won’t drop
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Thanks for checking, I’ll try it again, but I re-designated the target over and over with a TMS forward long with each pass and had not joy. During the track the procedure was as follows; Move cross hairs, tms up short to switch between point and area, tms up long to designate and pickled for ~ 1 second inside the dynamic launch zone marks. No bomb drop. -
Precision-Guided Munitions - GBU-38 won’t drop
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Mission and Campaigns
I can confirm that I did not hold the pickle button whilst waiting for the bomb to drop as it entered the dynamic launch zone, the pickle button was pressed for about 1 second on the first pass when the indicator was well within the max range mark. -
Precision-Guided Munitions - GBU-38 won’t drop
Highwayman-Ed posted a topic in Mission and Campaigns
When following the instructors guidance to drop the GBU-12 and GBU-38’s, everything goes according to plan throughout the mission, except the GUB-38’s won’t release. Target is designated as instructed (I tried Point and Area mode), the HUD is in CCRP, Master arm is still engaged, I line up the aircraft on the bomb drop line and after the target enters the dynamic drop zone I hold the pickle button for about 1 second, but the GBU-38’s will not come off their stations. A friend of mine has exactly the same issue. Track file here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjB8XCqYiep2fJGQ71877YIODDg?e=UH9N4B -
[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
Hey BitMaster, thanks for the suggestion, but as mentioned earlier NOTHING else has caused an issue on this computer or this LAN port before, it’s only DCS updater that causes it since September, so I’m not about to ask Gigagbyte to replace the motherboard (onboard LAN) for just one program that causes a problem with the modem. Anyhow, thanks all for the suggestions. Closing the thread as I’m going to rebuild Windows in a couple of weeks anyhow. If it happens after that, we’ll that would be interesting. As for why CAT 6 and not 7, easy, the builder of the house didn’t have it as an option. It was CAT 6 or nothing. -
Sub US$300, I'm in.

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
If I had experienced ANY other issues with the LAN connection in the house (newly built with CAT 6 to every room 2 years ago), I'd be considering it, but everything else runs flawlessly and I've never had any issues with this connection except this one thing. All good, I can work around it, and as mentioned in an earlier post, the computer is due for a clean up soon anyhow. Thanks all for looking into it. -
[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
Hey Shagrat, thanks for the idea, but the second machine on my network (a dedicated server) updates perfectly without causing any issues to the modem, so I’ve pretty much ruled that out. The only difference between the two from the network layer is that my server connects to my modem over wireless, and my games machine via cat 6, so that’s my next test, switch my gaming rig to a wireless connection to the modem for the next update... -
[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
I'm planning on doing a fresh Windows install in a few weeks, so it's no big deal for me, but if you'd like any testing done before then, I'm always happy to help. -
[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
Other than the timeouts in the middle where the connection went down, everything looks good to me too. It's very odd for sure, and not something that I can't work around, but it's a guaranteed modem crash every time it runs.... -

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
It’s certainly damned odd. I’m running an 100/40 NBN (Fibre Optic for non Aussies) connection with TPG and when it goes down the modem hangs and does not restart (All lights but power on the Netgear go out) and the NBN box shows power and no connection to the modem, but an open port to the exchange. Unfortunately the modem isn’t recording anything useful in its logs whatsoever and Netgear have been particularly useless. -
OK, this is a really odd one, but I feel I should report it anyway. Whenever I run the DCS updater, after connecting to the swarm, my modem typically crashes around a minute after the download starts. If I reboot the modem, the download will start again, and again, typically within a minute, the modem will crash again ad nauseam. If I connect my mobile phone to my computer and run the update using it as a modem, it will work fine. I've obviously raised a support ticket with Netgear who manufacture the modem, but they've effectively washed their hands of it and claim that it's not their issue. What makes this even odder is that I also run a dedicated server on my home network, and that computer updates fine without crashing the modem! The issue has been happening since early September and I never had the issue prior to then and my internet connection and modem work flawlessly other than this.

FYI, Strutt is building some fantastic skins to augment the Civil Aircraft Mod... Liveries Thread
-
Thanks buddy. That American Airlines skin is damned fine. I promise to stop hassling you for more, once the next lot are done... Or maybe the next few...

Love this mod to bits. Our missions would never be the same again without all the civil airliners buzzing around, be it Georgia, Gulf or Nevada...

I’d like to throw in my 2 cents to congratulate the ED team on a fantastic start to what I think will be the defining aircraft of the stable. The view from the cockpit is absolutely amazing, such an amazing vantage point that years after learning to fly her in that other Sim, with VR and the latest graphics and shaders has simply blown me away.

Can we get DCS to Ignore controllers?
Highwayman-Ed replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
In response to you guys, and thanks for posting, I do use a profile in USBDeview to disable the controllers I don’t need, but it would be much cleaner of I could just tick a box in DCS or in a config file to say “ignore xyz” controller. The USBDeview profiles became a necessity because Il-2 will only recognise 8 USB devices, and with all of the stuff I have plugged into my cockpit for racing, driving and space sims, I have a lot more than that, and physically unplugging them simply is not an option. -
I have a couple of devices connected that DCS sees. but I have no intention of using them with the sim, Razer Tartarus Game Pad and XBox controller for example. I've also noted that when I'm in VR, there is a phantom controller that has appeared (presumably the Vive controllers connected to my Pimax headset). Is there any way of blacklisting these controllers so that they do not appear in the controller's section?

DCS: AV8BNA Warning Lights Mod
Highwayman-Ed replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Great job as always Devrim :) -
Version: Open Beta 2.5.5.35461 Mission: Training mission 2 (English) Bug: 2 of the radio messages given during the training have Russian subtitles instead of English The first one is as you're on final approach, approximately over the Outer NDB, the second is as you're 2/3 of the way down the runway after having landed. Impact: Inconvenience.

Also have an issue with the visor in VR. When the visor is down, I can see and un-tinted area above the visor, it’s like the 3D model of the visor itself isn’t high enough. Pimax 5K XR @ normal Field of View setting.

US Navy Deck Equipment Hang Ups
Highwayman-Ed replied to grant977's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Correct, haven't touched or changed it in that saved games folder for well over 6 months, I know that can be a challenge for Steam users however, and I can't help there... -

Still using the mod ourselves and not having any issues either... We use it by adding the pack in the saved games folder, not into the DCS folders (breaks integrity check).
