  1. Excellent work on this, now for your next trick, can you get rid of the lens flares from the sun being at different angles when looking directly at it? I was hoping that the Mirror Sun Glare would fix it, but it didn't for me.
  2. Whilst the drop to the SteamVR “safe space” is annoying when it happens, it’s usually better than the jarring double vision or tearing that I saw when i enabled the option above. My rift used to behave during loading screens, or when intensive scripts were triggered for split seconds just like it. I’ve re-enabled it after trying it for a couple of weeks.
  3. Wow, just wow. This is almost enough for me to put my VR away and go back to projector mounting...
  4. Check to see if Oculus is set to run as an Administrator. I switched from a CV1 to a Pimax 5K XR, and this runs without either Oculus or SteamVR "running", but the settings in SteamVR effect how the Pimax renders, so it must be playing some part. I found that when the Oculus home software wasn't set to run as administrator, the Oculus client would start every time that I started DCS. Changing this stopped that behaviour.
  5. Not seen any degradation on my side, although as mentioned by toutenglisse, I've disabled Wake Turbulence. Pimax 5K XR and other specs in my sig
  6. +1 here, would it be possible to add an option for glare without lens flare? I would still like the full glare from the sun and lights, just not the lens flare effect itself and turning off lens flare option removes the glare as well.
  7. Whodat seems to be suffering from something similar with his Pimax on Large FOV (see here: Pimax 5k+ aliasing only on large FOV), but I personally am not seeing it and performance is great for me, although I'm just using the Hornet training missions as my benchmark here...
  8. Tested, and other than a slight, but noticeable, decrease in performance with the frame rate, I was able to read everything the same as with the normal field of view.
  9. I certainly don’t have the issue on Normal FOV, everything is pretty clear with the exception of the MPCD in the centre when the color map is displayed, but my settings are vastly different... Over the past few months that I’ve had my Pimax though, I’ve come to realise that the extra 10 degrees at the very edge of my field of view on the Large setting is simply not worth the performance hit that comes with it, and I barely notice it any more. That said, here are my settings and I’ll try it out tomorrow on Large and get back to you. Steam VR; Video Resolution = 50% PiTool (.132) Hidden Area Mask = OFF Render Quality = 1.25 Smart Smoothing = OFF FFR = ON & Conservative Parallel Projections = OFF FOV = Normal Refresh rate = 64Hz DCS MSAA = 2X Anisotropic filtering = 16X Pixel Density = 1 I do not run Oculus or Steam VR when flying DCS and launch it from within PiTool (Manually imported). I do get a few activation timeout errors when I start DCS, but it runs fine once I've cancelled out of these. The only word of caution when launching this way is VR centring does NOT work vertically for some reason, but this is true of any title launched from the PiTool...?
  10. I did some further tests with this, and it's really odd behaviour with the clouds specifically. Long-distance clouds are visible in the dead centre if I centre the cloud in my field of view, and it is also visible in the extreme edges of my field of view, but anywhere else, the long-distance clouds disappear... Excuse the rudimentary drawing, but this is a visual representation of where I can see a cloud at long range in the far distance as I turn my head, it will be visible only at these 3 angles...
  11. Bumping... This is really frustrating me lately with the clouds. It just makes you feel off and it gives me eye strain as I can’t stop myself from “looking” at the anomalous clouds as they pop in and out in the one or other eye in the far distance. It that bad that I have to either edit clouds out of the mission, or stop flying after 20 minutes or risk headaches... I only get this effect in DCS, Il-2, P3D and many other games don’t have this issue.
  12. Hey Spoon, I’m digging around on the Hornetpits forum, but struggling to find the plans for this, could you throw us a link please?
  13. I was a CV1 user and got a Pimax 5K XR. Ive tried the 5K + too and can tell you the XR is a much better headset. That said, whilst the wide FOV, better SDE and fantastic color reproduction, including proper blacks are great, the software for it is pretty poor and the after sales service is shocking. If you’re technical, and can live with tweaking and fiddling with config files to make it work, and you have the horsepower to drive it, go for it, you’ll love it. If you’re somebody who just wants to plug and play and have your VR just work, look elsewhere...
  14. Default IPD in DCS for me with the Pimax 5K XR, I also get the objects, clouds, etc clipping in and out in one or the other eye depending on rotation of my view at longer ranges. It’s especially noticeable in the far distance and is disconcerting only seeing objects in one eye in VR.
  15. Looking forward to what you do for the UFC, I'm definitely making one of these...
  16. Hey guys, I noticed this a build or two ago, but it's back again in this version: DCS Open Beta version 2.5.5.33184 The Audible warning tones are so quiet, I can barely hear them. Here are my audio settings for reference which I have not changed in well over a year.
  17. Where did you find the file to edit for the AV-8B?
  18. This has been an issue for a long time, but I'm hoping that it's something being worked on with the new weather system, but some form of acknowledgement of the issue would be nice. The other one with the clouds that bugs the hell out of me is that they're actually 2d textures and rotate when you rotate your head (roll).
  19. Add on top of that, that if you have a smart auto clocking graphics card like my Gigabyte RTX 2080Ti AORUS Extreme, Steam only detects the idle speed of the GPU when making this decision and says, “Ha, your system sucks, I’m going to set the render target to 18%”
  20. Yeah, you're not supposed to have both headsets plugged in at the same time, that was one of the first things I picked up when reading through the Pimax forums as it can cause issues for either headset. Quite often you can find that the PiTools installation will bugger up the Oculus app, and I rarely have mine running any more as the Rift is on my other older gaming computer now. The headset is also always on unless you turn it off with the actual power button on the headset. I never turn mine on unless I want to use it, and for reference, you do not need PiTools started at all unless you're launching a game from it, or need to tweak settings.
  21. There have been incidences of bad cables causing problems on the Pimax forums. I'm running with the specs in my sig and the frame rate in the Pimax 5kXR is comparable to my Rift CV1 with PiTool 132 and Nvidia 430.86, but with the settings reduced slightly in DCS and using Voight's Steam settings above and the PiTool render quality at 1.75. I have played around in the past with the steam settings at 100% and PiTool at 1, but it wasn't quite as smooth, but was quite a bit sharper. I love my Pimax headset, but the software side of it really is pretty poor.
  22. I've seen a few people complaining on the Pimax forums about juddering when using the smoothing as well and I have on occasion seen it myself and chose not to use it instead using a lower refresh rate, but it's much better since the 132 Pitool release and I haven't noticed it.
  23. You Sir, are my new favourite poster on the forums
  24. Not having any issues with either mod in the current open Beta. Try taking the out of the mods folders and add them back one by one until you find the problematic mods, then reach out to the author on their threads. Combinations of certain type of mod can sometimes cause issues, but prefixing a unit name with an * doesn’t cause issues, I do this with my mods for example so that when I’m mission building, I know which items can be used without having mods for other players who do not have them.
