True. As an enforceable option you mean?
-
Problem is that Huey pilots in multiplayer will just set the skill level on expert and fly to anything that can be destroyed :(.
-
Wow I didn't even know there were mods for sale. I hope you don't mean addons such as LotAtc, Tacview or any of the other third-part projects. There goes a lot of work into them.

The altitude story is ruled out in the OP. It explains the SAM was launched from sea level.
-
Do read the OP. I've been hit too by SA-13 at that altitude. The missile probably intercepted you right above the launcher (the shortest path to 13000') and did not have to manoeuver much. So as ENO said, it's not a ceiling, it's an effective altitude at which the PK is still acceptable. The SA-13 operator just got lucky.

Hello to the forum (and some questions)
TurboHog replied to specialsymbol's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
My answers to your questions: - Yes you need DCS World. Separate download. - It can be integrated. You can use your key and download the module . Install it and enter the activation code upon starting a mission. - The DCS Flaming Cliffs A-10A has nothing to do with the A-10C. If you buy Flaming Cliffs you can fly both. Note that only the A10C is a complete simulation of all (sub)systems. - Yes, in the same way as the A10C Welcome on the forums and have fun learning & flying! -
I flew with a Logitech extreme 3D pro only for a long time. Even the A-10C and Black Shark. So I have to disagree with Home Fries on this. I do think that helicopters such as the Huey and the Mi-8 that require quite a lot of work on the rudders and tiny cyclic inputs should be flown with a set of pedals and a joystick that has a long throw. Of course flying it with the 3D pro is possible, but unnecessary difficult.

Thanks, that's clear!

I find this slightly confusing because of the interpretation of the word 'final'. This is what I mean: The open beta will receive updates before the official version 1.2.7 is released. The open beta will end after which the official v1.2.7 is released. The non-beta version 1.2.7 will subsequently receive updates.

DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
TurboHog replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
The web installer is 17mb. The open beta will be about the same size as your full V1.2.6, assuming no significant changes (Like scenery, texture overhauls) were made. It will be installed not as a patch, but as a standalone version of DCS. Even with its own saved games folder for config files, logs and tracks etc. -
The H models from the pictures of my post # 2 were in Australian service until retired in 2007
-
Two mounts on each side may be uncommon, but: http://www.ipas.com.au/pages/Page_Art_Huey_Profile.htm Please note that your post will most likely be moved to the BST - UH-1H subforum where it belongs.

TackView do not record flights
TurboHog replied to Hoggorm's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
From the official website: NOTICE: In network games, the host must set [allow_object_export = true] in [network.cfg] in order to allow Tacview recording on clients computers. -
So I can imagine the effect on a Huey is even smaller... BST also thought about it. The updated 1.2.7 changelog sais:

I haven't flown the Ka-50 in a long time so it's good to hear that the mod is still working . Thank you!
-
It will be AFM with Flaming Cliffs style avionic modelling. Certain things like dynamic engine operation, fluid modelling, sub-systems and accurate damage modelling are left out. So basicly an FC aircraft with AFM. Nothing more than that.

How in the world can I get better at formation flying?
TurboHog replied to Pajeezy's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thrustmaster T.16000 is the way to go if you can't afford their high-end Warthog stick. The long throws and hall sensors will greatly improve your precise flying skills. Never want to go back to that Logitech extreme 3d pro. I align the bottom of my mirrors with the pilot I'm following as reference in the A10C and F-15C. You can also try to align the nav light/ wingtip with the pilot's head. -
DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
TurboHog replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Although it is a preliminary changelog I was hoping for some more Huey features and bug fixes. EB-1 promised, although not in an official announcement, that the (non-beta) Huey would be released with the next patch, which back then would take a month or two. So even for a preliminary changelog I was expecting more than this. I also hope to see that the final changelog includes some of the unfinished (side) projects, such as the Su-33 external, the Su-25T 6DOF cockpit and the AFM fast-movers. Overall very happy of course to see that ED continues to dedicate themselves to my favourite sim  -
1.2.6.20768.297 00005.813 dcs update
TurboHog replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yes... 108.8 Mb for me. It's unannounced so maybe just a compatibility thing? (There have been unannounced patches before and they usually weren't anything special...) -
My personal favorites, not including my own mods: - Diveplane's audio production - Toby23's low'n'slow terrain textures (also good for high'n'fast flying) - Tetra's RAE RWR Audio expansion. (this one is a must for the A10C) - Mustang's cloud mod
-
That's the craziest A-10C video I've ever seen...

This caught my eye. Air to air and surface to air missiles in DCS fly lead pursuit... That is, they try to intercept the target rather than point directly at it and chase it. About SAM in DCS. On an individual level I think it lacks some simulated human factors. A single MANPAD fires 3 missiles within a minute (!) and like all other units, will spot you when you are masked by trees. On the other hand radar SAM seems to make your life easy. Radar SAM will engage at maximum range when you fly towards them. Only thing you have to do is turn 180 degrees and you'll be fine.

Combined Development Update - November 1, 2013
TurboHog replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I think you're doing just fine. A screenshot once in a while with a couple of lines on the development progress is good enough. Awesome update btw. -
The stingers will spawn some time after you've entered the target area. First time I did this mission they took me by surprise when I lined up for my second rocket run. Second time I took 32 Fab-100 bombs and rippled them with a small interval at about 150ft. Study your map and follow the road early on to get lined up correctly with the column. Then, lay down that carpet ! I killed every vehicle in the column in the first run and RTB'ed...
