  1. I guess I am not following the logic on this one... If you are flying modules in DCS now and are enjoying it.. (And I assume you are) then why would you not order the sabre and Dora and enjoy them now? EDGE has nothing to do with anything at this point. If when EDGE gets here you CAN'T run EDGE for whatever reason, you can still keep your install at the current version and continue to fly the planes you already have... You aren't going to uninstall the whole sim if EDGE runs crappy on your machine are you?
  2. So everyone complaining about balance and needing this widget to combat that widget... Exactly what did the REAL pilots do when they went into battle with these planes? Cry to the CO about the fact that one aspect of their plane was inferior? They flew the plane they had against the foe they had... Sometimes it sucked... Most of the time they figured out ways to make it work.. I can't WAIT until the 262 is released and how it is going to bring on the DEMISE of WW2 multiplayer.. Get over it.. It is what it is GOOD GOD
  3. Bottom line is that MP servers can limit or provide pretty much anything they want so give them as many possible options as you can.. And let the mission builders worry about balance with their mission building tools...
  4. Yeah I have found that even in the realm of "simmers" there are different levels... Also, it is a rude awakening for folks that have been "Flight Simmers" their whole lives and then when the realism of DCS hits them they are shocked... I think many of us get the mindset that we have simmed for decades so flying the real thing won't be that much more difficult.. I can tell you first hand that this is bull and I was the most shocked and humbled guy around the first time I flew a real helicopter... I was just certain that with my years of experience (simming) flying the real thing would be tough but I would have it down in no time... FAT CHANCE So folks sim for years and then hit DCS and since they can't fly it well then the program is bugged... Ummm. Nope... Flying is NOT EASY
  5. Ok that is the funniest comment I have seen in a while! Not often that you can pull Avatar AND Middle-Earth references into a flight sim post... LOL AWESOME
  6. Understand that ED did not intend to offend anyone.. (Not the folks that brought the issue to light and also not you either.) I understand your point, but keep in mind that even if you don't agree (and they might not agree with you either) Doesn't mean that either point of view is not valid.. Both opinions are valid and I think ED is doing a great job making a compromise that pleases both sides.. (The release will have the speech removed but those that want the real "Feel" can load that version to their install...) No one is telling you what you can and can't do, ED is simply trying to ensure everyone enjoys the product they are providing and in the end we are all customers and should all be allowed to express our views..
  7. And THAT is pretty ironic as well! LOL
  8. I agree completely.. I have some very limited time in real life so I hear what you are saying about the "seat of the pants" feeling. And I certainly did not mean to imply that they had zero experience flying, simply not in these airplanes.. Still amazing to fly one of these with basically no experience in the plane and little specific training in them..
  9. The thing I marvel at with all of this is that DCS models these airframes exactly like the real thing. It just boggles my mind that these ill-handling evil machines that try to kill you at every possible chance were tamed by pilots that had ZERO experience with them and with zero documentation. (There is another thread that states that the real Dora pilot that was a consultant for this module stated that they had received this plane and no manual so they had to figure it out for themselves.) Hats off to these pioneers of flight that had the skills and the balls to tame these unruly beasts... It is a wonder half of them survived just FLYING THE PLANE, let alone taking one into combat. We gripe about the handling and weirdnesses involved with these airframes while SIMULATING flight combat... I can't imagine jumping into one of these beasts with zero documentation and no training and trying to fly one of these in real life... We love the equipment and that is why we sim, but the pilots with their skill and bravery are the real heroes no matter what flag they flew for... SALUTE!
  10. Yeah it is a real shame you guys didn't have a real Dora pilot involved with the development so that it could be realistic... Oh wait... :O) Sorry guys, you can pick "realistic" and have to learn how to fly it with all of it's idiosyncrasies... or you can have it easy to take off and land and be happy with the fact that you are playing an arcade game.. (Like some of the other "sims" out there.) Can't have it both ways..
  11. Yeah apparently not looking for a study sim and figured out real quick that this was NOT what he was expecting... I hate it when that happens... :O(
  12. OK, thanks for the slap and the statement about my being DEAD WRONG.. That's the spirit! But if a pilot has never had this training, then what notification do they actually HAVE? Since they have no idea about these symptoms then they don't really have any notification do they? And exactly how is ED supposed to approximate red tingly skin? So to a pilot that is uninformed, they will fly along (Just like the sim) and pass out before they know anything is wrong won't they? (Just like the sim)
  13. So is there any reason to NOT simply open them manually on take off every time? IF not an issue then I would just handle it that way rather than worry about it.. I do a similar thing with carb icing and the R22 helicopter.. Unless I absolutely NEED the extra power I just turn on anti-icing anytime there is even a REMOTE chance of carb icing... ??
  14.
  15. Thing is that in real life you have absolutely ZERO notification at all.. And your brain continues to get more and more useless as the effects continue. G-forces affect you and then as the forces recede you get your senses back.. Hypoxia is constant and slowly gets worse and never recedes so you just pass out before you even know there is an issue.. And it is also very slow and subtle where G-force blackout is much quicker and noticeable.. (And yet sometimes pilots pass out from G-forces that are much more noticeable than hypoxia and don't even realize they were ever out.. Pretty scary stuff.) Hypoxia is a real killer and the way ED has it modelled is realistic.. Sucks for sure, but it is what it is..
  16. In real life you don't get any real notice either.. MANY pilots have died this way. If you ever fly larger planes they make a real big deal about this in class especially due to the fact that your brain does not realize what is happening and then you pass out...
  17. As Sheldon would say... BUZINGA!... ...PUNK
  18. So an unrecoverable dive until the plane disintegrates. Now that would suck..
  19. Well now THAT is a bad day...
  20. Wait... What? :megalol:
  21. Also with the current system the more modules you buy the more opportunity for discounts... So they are already supporting the "seriously engaged" simmers...
  22. You forgot about the obligatory NANDOS fund! :)
  23. Maybe he REALLY loves that plane! :megalol:
  24. Maybe wire loom like is used in automotive wiring...
