For the record I was banned due to some nasty comments I made earlier in this very thread bashing Razbam. I have had plenty of time to think about it and came to the conclusion that I should have been banned for my comments. I have been one of the folks pretty passionate about the poor treatment of Mr Kinney a long time ago and yet when I go back and read my comments about RAZBAM I just shake my head. I was doing EXACTLY the same thing by bashing Razbam as I have. Karma being what it is, Razbam announced the upcoming module release something like 1 WEEK after I had run my mouth, putting an exclamation point on my stupid comments. At this point in time I would like to apologize to Razbam and ED as they do not need folks treating their business partners poorly. And though I didn't like being banned, I will say I am impressed that ED supports their devs like they do.

Not to mention the fact that anytime anything is announced, if anything at all changes this forum absolutely loses it's mind and crucifies them. That is one of the reasons that now sadly most of the devs as well as ED state very little until something is ready to release.. Note Belsimtek haven't said a peep in ages.. For a while we were getting news about some version of Cobra and some version of Hind almost weekly.. Now? NOTHING..

The fact of the matter is that Razbam have released absolutely NOTHING.... for DCS.. NADA. So to compare them to any of the other 3rd party devs is insulting to them. I personally do not believe Razbam will ever provide anything for DCS as they are too entrenched in the MS Flight Simulator "Puppy Mill"... DCS is far too much work for them as long as they keep pumping out FSX crap and people keep paying for it..

You may have been flying too fast causing an overspeed condition. This can cause all kinds of issues and I know when I first started flying the Shark I would be minding my own business and then all of a sudden my rotors would fly apart.. Of course there is a loud horn blaring but I had no idea what it was and kept flying too fast. Slow down and when they say "never Exceed" they really mean it in aircraft!

They are right, and you are spoiled.. (Good for you!) And I can relate as well as my wife is awesome... Reading some of these posts I am really sad for some folks and it makes me realize how lucky I truly am..

While the Phantom in and of itself would not be more complex than the F-14, the Phantom is still in use today and has some upgraded systems that make it a touchy proposition as far as a developer is concerned. Boeing has the rights to this aircraft today due to mergers and I am not sure how receptive they are to simulation licensing.. (Some of these companies are downright hostile about it.) I seem to recall that VEAO were looking at the Phantom for some time and decided to not code it and I believe the systems secrecy and licensing was the reasons for the no-go..

That is a good machine.. The first thing that smacked me in the face is that you are running a mechanical HD. HIGHLY recommend moving that 1 TB mechanical drive as a secondary and buy a fast SSD. Prices are coming down all the time and it makes a big difference in DCS... Make sure you get at least a 500 Gig drive or you will run out of space pretty quick... After that, I would wait for DCS 2.0 and see how that pans out. You have a good machine now, you should be able to tweak for better performance.. (And the SSD will make a big difference) :thumbup:

If you want to hook him on DCS I would give the Black shark... Definitely my favorite and the one that started it all for me... (But only if he has the hardware.. Rudder pedals essential.. :thumbup:

I am betting he is pretty busy as his site was down for some time and now I just checkked and it is up and running but totally different than before. Looks to be spending time updating his site at the moment..

Thanks to everyone for the VERY quick responses! Looks like BIGNEWY gets the attaboy as his suggestion of loading DirectX again was the ticket! So Skate, reload DirectX and you should be good to go. As an FYI, the other suggested reloads for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package x86 and x64 do not work with Windows 10 as apparently WIN10 comes with newer versions already.. . Thanks folks. THAT was quick!

Nope as stated, sound works fine in Windows by itself and with other apps, but NOTHING at all anywhere within DCS.. And remember that mine is a FRESH install of Windows using an existing install of DCS...

Ok so I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and all seems ok.. Sound works fine.. But when I tried to run DCS from my secondary drive it asked for 900 activations (well it seemed like 900 of them.. One for every module I won.) Then it went into thew module and the Black Shark is running and the graphics look fine, but no sound.. Clearly I need to download something for sound like I had to do for Visual basic 2012 but no idea what I need. Any ideas?

Well yeah because trying to land a non-carrier equipped plane on a carrier, risking the aircraft as well as anyone ON the carrier wouldn't ALREADY get you a bullet between the eyes! :huh: :doh: LOL

Try it with FULL ammo and then just as you reach stall start firing your gun and empty it. the recoil should help your stopping efforts...

I have built a lot of systems for people as well as my own and I find that after painstakingly going thru all of the calculations and such, 9 out of 10 folks opt for a 700 or 750 watt PSU if they are gaming... In a typical system that is a bit of overkill but it does allow some headroom if you decide to put in a 2nd video card or whatever.. Also, running a slightly bigger PSU at a lower percentage is better than running a smaller one maxed out.. I have done the calculations many times and generally end up selecting a 700 or 750 for the reasons stated above... Buy a name brand and like the other folks have said read some reviews as PSU's are NOT created equal.. (Bronze is fine for most applications)

While that is correct as far as the cpu goes, the new version will use DirectX11 and this will offload a lot of things that the CPU handled in DX9 to the GPU and this will provide much better performance.. And definitely go with the GTX970... Best bang for the buck out there. Period.. :thumbup:

Here's hoping that ED is secretly developing the KA-52 to release once multi crew is perfected... (One can only hope) THAT would be a day one purchase for me!

You do realize that each and EVERY plane that is currently out there, as well as future planes and helos will ALL RUN IN EDGE.. Why does this continue to be difficult for folks to grasp? EDGE is a new rendering tool.. It can render the old planes just as easily as the new ones... ALL planes will work with EDGE when it finally gets here..

You have some kind of issue then because I have a GTX770Ti and get better than that.. Time to start looking at the forum as you have an issue with your system or your settings somewhere.. EDIT: I just saw your resolution.. That is a lot of pixels. How do you have your second monitor setup in Helios? If you have it BELOW the other monitor then you are pushing way more pixels than you need to and that may be the issue. Redo the Helios profile and add the 2nd monitor at the end of the main display rather than stacking them. (Helios does not care where you place the physical monitor but if you setup Helios with the 2nd monitor beneath the main one then your pixels are multiplied and will take a lot more horsepower to push them unnecesarily...
