  1. Also, remember that there are different teams doing different work and many of the DVS are working on multiple modules.. So your texture artists will work on textures according to their schedules.. Maybe the Hornet texture folks started on the Hornet immediately at the onset of the project and the Heatblur folks were already working on another module when F-14 work began.. The nice thing about the textures is that aspect can be done pretty much anytime.. I wouldn't think at this point that texturing being in progress has any bearing on whether the module is to be delayed or not.. They are probably on time according to their timeline whether that timeline is different from the Hornet (or any other module for that matter) RELAX!
  2. I don't care if it is an "entertainment device" or not.. I paid for it and I expect it to work.. There is absolutely ZERO LEGITIMATE reason to hold the equipment hostage in this manner. NONE
  3. This is the kind of crap that really pisses me off. So we pay several hundreds of dollars for a piece of equipment and we are held hostage by software off the internet that we have zero control over... Total BS..
  4. Something else worth looking at is where you have your preload set? This preloads graphics into memory so the more memory you have the better things should run if you set the preload as high as it will go.. (Preload Radius) Setting this to max helped my system a lot..
  5. Strange as it looks much better when adjusted on my system.. Sounds like we need some clarification from ED as to exactly how they have implemented this in DCS..
  6. Well IPD may very well stand for inter pupillary distance but since I can attest to the fact that changing from the default 65 to 90 DID in fact make the cockpit much easier to read I would bet that IPD may not work exactly as you think it does .. (And upon further thought, since 90 millimeters happens to be 3.54 inches I am not sure just how big your T Rex is but it must fit in your pocket.) 3.54 inches is most certainly a possiblility.. (And probably ought to be the default as I doubt that any of us here have eyes as close together as 60 mm which is 2.56 inches..) I just measured mine and it is approximately 73 mm so I am going to reset at 73 mm and see how things look.. EDIT: And for me 73mm looks better yet so it would appear that we need to measure the distance between our pupils and plug that number into the IPD field and then check the box as it makes a world of difference to the readability of the gauges.. At least for this T-Rex anyway.. Well my nickname IS Allosaur... :megalol:
  7. Everyone keeps talking about a "Saved Games" folder to delete and for the life of me I cannot find this folder anywhere.. What is the complete FULL path to this folder? (And for the record I think 2.5 looks awesome and the immersion in VR flying a helicopter is amazing, but I am having a few issues with colors and such.. Example is looking over the sea at distance the water looks brown rather than blue)
  8. Yep everybody is an expert but here is the reality.. If the owners of the airframe don't want you to model it you are done. It is their intellectual property. Period.. So we can debate the whys and wherefores until the end of time and changes nothing.
  9. Why would there be a new Nevada map? It is already the newest version.. Caucuses is simply being brought up to the same level of detail that the current Nevada map is at currently..
  10. LOL... Yeah we don't understand what could be classified on a classified platform? Since we have never seen one and won't see one we really have no way to determine WHY it is classified and that is they way they want it.. And the one your friend flies for the police is definitely not the same bird as the classified one.. With all of that in mind, I don't know what could be on that bird to make it that sensitive.. But that is kinda the point of making it classified in the first place isn't it?
  11. How is it irrelevant? They are the only airframes we personally have any real life experience with so I think it is quite relevant.. (For the record, the Huey feels a lot like the aforementioned Robinsons as far as the overall FEEL, and the Gazelle does not.) Hence the statements that we have made.. As for them being "deathtraps" I think that statement could be made for ALL helicopters and I feel that saying that is far less relevant than the comparison between the airframes is..
  12. Nicely said... And since they won't be able to complete all of the fixes in time for release, my guess is they will TRY to fix all that they can so this means they will release it as late as possible while still meeting the range they had provided.. So I am guessing the last Friday of the month... Understanding that things will not be perfect...
  13. EVERYTHING Getting rid of multiple versions (And I am sure the DEVS will be relieved to not have to code for so many different splits) F-18, F14, Getting to fly in the Caucuses again. (I have been using NTTR since it came out and haven't flown anything else since so I am looking forward to Caucuses and revamped campaigns and missions) Straits of Hormuz, Carrier OPs etc.. What's NOT to like..? (Oh and Hind and hopefully the Cobra will appear on the list again as it seems to have disappeared in 2017)
  14. Nice reply and explanation.. I was going to reply, but after that... Umm.. What he said!
  15. Interestingly, I too have flown the R22 and the R44 IRL and I don't think the Gazelle feels anything at all like the real thing... And based on your statement that there are real Gazelle pilots on the forum and they are not complaining makes me wonder if something other than the module may be at play here.. What controls are you using and how do you have your curves set? I am asking because this forum is generally consistent with opinions (GENERALLY) and yet this module is wildly polarizing with folks saying it is awesome and don't change a thing and others saying it is wooden and runs on rails etc... I recently went back and tried the Gazelle again after the last update and agree it is better... But still not as realistic as say the Huey... (Huey FM is absolutely SPOT ON..) So again maybe controls are making a difference?
  16. Looks like I am too late to the party but can't go wrong with either module.. And my preference is the Black Shark but I love the MI8 too.. To each his own!
  17. And if it resolved itself, that sounds to me like a sensor issue.. I concur on the recalibration.. (the sensors can be a REAL PITA at times..)
  18. Sure looks like it is..
  19. I took the plunge and have a 1070 and won't run DCS non-Rift ever again.. (And for the record, I think the 1070 is the absolute minimum I would recommend regardless of what Oculus says) The rest of my system is a Ryzen 7 1800 with 16 Gigs memory and 2 SSDs... Yes the resolution is not optimal and yes there is a screen door effect, and yes it can be difficult to read the gauges at times.. And yes I am fanatical about things that effect anything visual.. And with all of that said, the difference in immersion makes all of the above-mentioned items... Absolutely ZERO issue.. I was concerned about all of these items myself and waited for quite some time before I jumped into it and now wish I had done so much earlier.. Do yourself a favor and head over to your nearest Best Buy and ask for a demo.. Ask them to show you the mountain climbing demo (that is the one that sold me). Once I got it home and tjumped into the cockpit I was absolutely blown away.. And it only got better from there.. Be sure to read the posts with settings suggestions as they have a major impact on readability of gauges and such.. At first it was horrendous, but after following the suggestions it is much better. Still not awesome, but acceptable anyway.. ENJOY!
  20. Gee great Eightball... Now we can look forward to DCS UFO or DCS Butterfly next.. Nothing like watering down the only legitimate simulation left... Awesome.. (NOT)
  21. I would go with a GTX1080 card at this point as it should provide a good boost of performance and then as others have stated, save your pennies to build a new rig.. When you have enough you can build the new one and use the 1080 that you have already paid for..
  22. Give it a friggin rest FFS... We get it you are unhappy.. Things have been explained every possible which way.. Please go away... MODS PLEASE CLOSE THIS ASININE THREAD
  23. Yes it is sad as when I joined, I was given a lot of help and great advice and now mostly salt and very little help.. The DCS community is far less helpful and much nastier than years past.. Sad really
