  1. I bought the F1 today, simply because it's the nearest thing to a Jaguar out there. Having said that, I'm enjoying it in its own right, flying the Kola Peninsular. (I wish it was a Jaguar though). ..
  2. 4 x Harriers at RAF Mildenhall last Sunday. Who would have thought? 4 landed and 4 formation take off. AV-8Bs are from USS Wasp, heading for Baltops. They visited Mildenhall, onroute to Sweden. ..
  3. Sequence of events, installing a new 2 TB, M.2 Evo plus, into a 14 yo PC. (For reference): Remove all modules. Move 220gb from full 256gb Evo to USB SD 256 card. 4.5 hrs. Replace 256 with 2TB card into same PCIe 2.0x4 slot. It didn't register in Disc manager and remained as a 256 card and not usable. Put 2tb card into a slower PCIe 1.0 x1 slot. It registered as a 256gb/1.6tb partitioned card. Moved DCS from SD to M.2 card. 4hrs. Added Update, 20gb with F4, 3 hrs. Re loaded all Modules. Added Samsung Magician. It benched at about half speed of an SSD, at 208/192, but ran DCS with F-4, perfectly OK. Entered Bios and changed PCIe 1.0x1 slot from 1 lane to 4 lanes. BM now at, 831/765. Added Kola map. 14 hrs D/L. Added Normandy map. Put 256 card back into original 2.0 slot which conflicted with new 2 tb card in 1.0 slot and wiped it out. (PANIC). Removed 256 card, but still no 2 tb card showing. Put 2 tb card back into PCIe 2.0x4 slot and it showed up, (PHEW}. BM now at 1579/1453 with DCS at 419gb with all my modules installed. Basicly, the new card has hijacked the old cards identity and placed it in a partition. It works perfectly well, so I think I won't touch it again. ..
  4. @dwight_talley You've just described my first few take offs, until I did this. Read the sticky. Normal Takeoff and Climb. Apply full afterburner, position stick full aft when Jester calls 80 knots and hold it there. Nose-wheel steering until the rudder becomes effective ~70KIAS (the NWS button must be held during operation). If you drift and need nose-wheel steering to correct, then center the rudder pedals before re-engaging. With full aft stick, the aircraft will rotate on its own when it’s ready to fly, ease off back stick to hold it at 10-12º nose up pitch attitude. Our intrepid F-4 SME’s and and recommended this technique, it works beautifully. I also had to invert rudder brakes. ..
  5. This was supposed to be the last video to round off my bug report, but the thread was locked, so I'll put it here. Landing at Deanland grass airfield, to show main gear strut deflection after a successful update. Also T/O using the Deanland hump, which gives a very nice, instant full travel of the gear strut. For my reference. Version 2.9.5.55300. . ..
  6. 1 year later and it's still there. The only way to T/O with a Mosquito is to taxi over it first, or start at the other end. Runway 240. ..
  7. Tailwheel hasn't been touched, it still does a Jig down the runway, but I believe it's being looked at. I've had a go at Eastchurch and here atTinian. All good so far. Next it's time to up the pucker factor and try out my new Normandy map, with some grass from my native Sussex. Friston and Deanland. ..
  8. Mosquito gear animation, updated by DCS.. Mosquito struts are back to normal, with ample movement and correct amount of static tube showing. Biggin Hill and 50% fuel as in previous video. A good result.. .. ..
  9. Sneaky devils! They've fixed it and didn't tell anyone. Perfect. I tried my new Normandy map today and my first landing was at Biggin Hill. That was easy I thought. I took a picture for posterity and noticed straight away it was sitting more level. (11.5). Bugger me, the strut is at the correct length. Time to see if this translates into better landings. Sorted !! .
  10. I've been asked to put a big "tick" on the final solution, but until "The Management" come up with a definitive answer to the strut question, I don't think there is one yet. So far we have: This is what we will do; We might not do that, We're doing stuff, so stop keep whining, (or words to that effect). Nothing specific about the actual bug report. The animation and stiffness of the gear strut. I've used every tool I can think of, to hammer this nail in, but I need an answer, in order to award that all important, big tick. Thanks. ..
  11. The rotaries all have CW/CCW bindings. ..
  12. Faced with the prospect of a 36 hr download, I had a bright spark moment. I took the sd card from my drone, which will take DCS through the USB. Copy time is 4.5 hrs, then back onto my new 2TB M2. Job done, (I hope). ..
  13. I think I'll get the 2 TB and be done with it, £173. The long download seems inevitable, for transfer. ..
  14. Unfortunately I've only 1 slot for this type of drive. Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive, which runs through an adaptor directly into the board, so the old 250 will have to come out before the new can go in. ..
  15. Thanks for the replies. The saved games are on the O/S drive and I can save input. DCS is on the small drive with nothing else on it, but I don't have a spare slot, so the new drive will have to go in the same slot. Do I have to delete the stuff in the mod manager first or can I just pull it and put the new drive in its place? ..
  16. I've had to remove 4 aircraft in order to make room for tomorrows download on my 250 gig Evo Plus, so: If I buy a 1000 gig to replace it, is it just a case of pulling the old one out and plugging the new one in, (sfter formatting), then downloading the full OB game? Thanks. ..
  17. I had only just bought the F-15, so I tried a whole variety of unguided weapons on my Marianas test site, which I also use for the Harrier and soon will be the Phantom. If you know exactly where the target is, use a waypoint and Auto. If heavily defended, I stay about 30' ASL and toss from about 4.5 nm. If you don't know exactly where the target is, then it's a very fast low pop-up, identify and mark the target with CDIP. Risky if heavily defended. I never altered CBU parameters. Some things have changed since I did all this good stuff, but here is the mission you could practice with. Chinese influence has taken over Rota and Tinian. A missile defence system has been installed, tanks have arrived and fighters are due shortly, ahead of a Naval landing. Anderson Field is threatened and is under surveilance from a radar station on Rota. The air defence must be destroyed. Harrier Mariana cbu97 sa3 ..miz ..

  19. This is what I expect to see and Yo-Yo has already said that this is what will happen. The static position of the strut will look like this. The strut lowered to the position as shown. An FM to go with it. If this doesn't happen, then were wasting our time here and this thing will go on for ever. A lot of people have said they won't fly this excellent model any more, which is a shame, because the bad experience is caused by this update. ..
  20. What a fantastic experience. Here are another 2 Spits from the same day. ..
  21. This shows how a main wheel landing should be done, no not by me, but I wish it was. ..
  22. DCS, Mossie landing, Biggin Hill 3 point. landing.. For my record.. v.2.9.4.53990.. ..
  23. The tyres on a P-51 are a skinny 27 inch, (To fit inside a thin wing) at 45psi and the Mossie a fat 16 inch at 39psi. There is no requirement for compression measurements on new struts, only for max wear limits. But there are dozens of pictures out there, showing where the strut should sit when under load. I'll put this one up again, showing Kermit Weeks late model at less than full load. ..
  24. Whether it be steel, pneumatic, or rubber block struts, they will all compress under load, in the Mossie case, about 5 inches. In the DCS case, it starts at 8 inches and ends at about 7.5 inches under load. There is barely any difference. Moved vid.
  25. My first experience of the Mk1 at Duxford. I was visiting the tank museum, then I heard this outside. ..
