ZE359 is preserved in USN livery ZE363 is long dead. ZE360 is now moved from Manston fire dump for preservation. It is the only F4J (UK) in RAF colours in existance. It was used at Boscombe Down for testing the Skyflash missile. It has history. Given the choice, it would be ZE360. ..

I've already DL your ZE363, which was scrapped in 1998. How can I change the number to ZE360? ..

We can represent ZE359 an RAF F4J (UK) Phantom, now preserved at Duxford in USN livery, with a DCS skin by narked_fish. Now an F4J (UK) ZE360 has been rescued from Manston fire dump and is 1 of only 15 built, still in RAF colours. Here is its story. ..

Feedback Thread - Viggen Update July 11th 2024
Holbeach replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
The Viggen is one of the smoothest regarding frame rate down at sheep level in the Falkands, that I have in my arsenal, with the F1 and F4, not so good. Looking at the manual today, it has a lot of unique features, which should make it interesting to learn. Until then, it's ridge riding to get the hang. .. -
Feedback Thread - Viggen Update July 11th 2024
Holbeach replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Bought the Viggen today and I'm pleased to say it's the perfect compliment to Kola and ice, so this is where I'll be using it in its natural environment. On the deck it's very smooth in Kola, but how will it perform on the notoriously frame sucking, low level Falklands. I'm pleased to say it's super smooth, down amongst the Penguins. Looking forward to working up the mighty Viggen. .. -
Good news: It now works perfectly smooth on Falklands with 1 core, dirt level and settings on high, with a 15 Y/O PC, when others are struggling with power rigs. Bad news: On multi thread, I get stutter and worst of all rubber banding and they are replacing it with this. Bad news. Thanks. ..
-
Of course! mt, multi thread, that's what was missing. My DCS crash had removed the DCS exe (2) and therefore the updater couldn't find it. A repair was required, so I altered the start menu Repair shortcut to locate the updater and run a Repair. Updater now works as it should. As a bonus, I found that the single thread exe that I've had to use, works better on my old system. Thanks for your help. ..

New Look and Feel for the South Atlantic map
Holbeach replied to specterStudios's topic in South Atlantic
I use to have trouble trying to shake off the jitters and a massive hang over next day after a good session, but it was worth it. I was an avid follower of the war and still have all the magazines depicting the action. I find that the Harrier and today I checked the F-15, run the best at dirt level, with the F-15 running at 720 kts very smoothly low over the East Falklands. Maybe Razbam knows a thing. I'm only running one Bear for target practice, so it might deteriorate as I add assets. Adding 12 ships to an air attack force, caused a crash, which has stopped my updater working. Never mind, the game still works. (Solved). .. -

New Look and Feel for the South Atlantic map
Holbeach replied to specterStudios's topic in South Atlantic
I'm on a flat screen 1080 and Trackir, so I'm not going to get too many problems, even on the Falklands, which has high detail at low level. Using Harrier, F_1, or F-4, low level at 100' AGL frame rate is lower but perfectly acceptable ( to me). No stuttering is more important. 100' AGL over Port Stanley. Single core. V Sync: Fast. Frame Rate: Unlimited. "It's a fact". When HMS Sheffield was sunk, I was in 'The Sheffield' pub in Newhaven. "That was a fact". Update: The Sheffield pub, built 1891, is now a Co-oP. .. -
I have all the locations of the updaters (2), which hasn't altered since 2023. Removed and installed a new one. but it's still looking for the DCS exe in bin-mt. (My understanding). My DCS exe is in, bin. Can somebody tell me where their DCS-exe is located? ..

New Look and Feel for the South Atlantic map
Holbeach replied to specterStudios's topic in South Atlantic
FGR2, San Carlos flyby. The Phantom FGR 2, was stationed in the Falklands from 1982 to 1992 and with a bit of imagination, can be used here from Port Stanley and later Mount Pleasant. Stanley had to be lengthened with matting and 5 arrester wires, but it can be used here in DCS, with a standard AA fit of 8 missiles and 2 tanks. There was initially a 100 mile, shoot on sight, exclusion zone, later increased to 150 nm. Main threat was deemed to be a Hercules attack. Later, Argentine recce aircraft Electra and Russian Bears, were the regular intercept. Daily low level excercises were carried out down to less than 100'. Patrols went to 20nm off the Argentine coast. Plenty to do. At 40000' .. -
Just to add. T/O from Port Stanley with full AA kit. I use default trim. Full aft stick at 80 kts, then ease it forward a bit, (not very technical I know) and hold it there. Aircraft leaves the ground gently without tail strike. ..

Here is my first use of this target on the range, back in 2015. Also used it with F-86 and Mig 21, which has about the same throw distance as the F1. Same technique is also used with the Mirage. .
