  1. I'm using an adaptor for the Evo 970 2 Tb. This means it runs at about half its theoretical speed, but 3 times the speed of a SSD. .. The GPU is my bottleneck. The GPU is always at 100% because I use Vsync Fast ..
  2. OK. So what would you do? If you had my system and wanted to upgrade, what would you do? ..
  3. Thanks chaps. You've been very helpfull. ..
  4. Price is similar. 1080ti has massive reputation. 2080 ti is about same, but has ray tracing. So I guess the 2080ti has the edge for an old system like mine. .. Looks like it's the 2080ti wins. ..
  5. Given that DCS runs very well in its current form, with GPU being the bottleneck. Which one? ..
  6. If you had a 15 YO PC with a GTX 1070, which one, (2Hand), would you upgrade too? Does DCS use Ray Tracing? ..
  7. I managed to get the Viggen into the under 18 club. Using F4 or Harrier from Stanley, I travelled round the island at any altitude, with frames from 45 low to 75 and up to 100 for the Viggen also using F10 without probs on these instances. But, intercept an aircraft and fire a missile and things change. At my next drop to below 900', my frames drop from about 60 to 17 flatline instantly. No other map does this. ..
  8. I tried 0.1 forest with the F4. 17 fps on the runway. Go to F2 which sometimes works, then F1 and we jump to 50fps. We're off round and round up and down and it stays up to 75 fps. Looking good. Back to sub 900', press F10 and the flatline 17 fps is back. The only one that remains un affected is the Viggen. ..
  9. Same mission, climb to attack Bears at 26000', just change the aircraft. F4/F1, will start on runway at either 50 fpm or 16 fpm, depending on how they feel. Viggen starts at about 55 fpm. ..
  10. F1 plus Falklands. ..
  11. With regards to my previous post. All the text has dissappeared and it's uneditable. But briefly, after a perfect high and low level flight, pressing F10 and back to F1, has flat lined my fps from 75 to 17 fps. The remainder of the LL flight will stay at low frames and nothing will change it. The F1 is similarly affected, but my new aquisition, The Viggen, is so far completely at home high or low. F4 at 18 fps. Viggen at 55 fps. ..
  12. From what I remember, the whole wheel sinks into the ground to the rim. The tyre stays the same. Maybe things have moved on, since the last time this question was asked.. ..
  13. As I remember, this is a DCS thing and affects all aircraft. The tyre itself is not animated. ..

  15. ZE359 is preserved in USN livery ZE363 is long dead. ZE360 is now moved from Manston fire dump for preservation. It is the only F4J (UK) in RAF colours in existance. It was used at Boscombe Down for testing the Skyflash missile. It has history. Given the choice, it would be ZE360. ..
  16. I've already DL your ZE363, which was scrapped in 1998. How can I change the number to ZE360? ..
  17. We can represent ZE359 an RAF F4J (UK) Phantom, now preserved at Duxford in USN livery, with a DCS skin by narked_fish. Now an F4J (UK) ZE360 has been rescued from Manston fire dump and is 1 of only 15 built, still in RAF colours. Here is its story. ..
  18. The Viggen is one of the smoothest regarding frame rate down at sheep level in the Falkands, that I have in my arsenal, with the F1 and F4, not so good. Looking at the manual today, it has a lot of unique features, which should make it interesting to learn. Until then, it's ridge riding to get the hang. ..

  20. Bought the Viggen today and I'm pleased to say it's the perfect compliment to Kola and ice, so this is where I'll be using it in its natural environment. On the deck it's very smooth in Kola, but how will it perform on the notoriously frame sucking, low level Falklands. I'm pleased to say it's super smooth, down amongst the Penguins. Looking forward to working up the mighty Viggen. ..
  21. Good news: It now works perfectly smooth on Falklands with 1 core, dirt level and settings on high, with a 15 Y/O PC, when others are struggling with power rigs. Bad news: On multi thread, I get stutter and worst of all rubber banding and they are replacing it with this. Bad news. Thanks. ..
  22. Of course! mt, multi thread, that's what was missing. My DCS crash had removed the DCS exe (2) and therefore the updater couldn't find it. A repair was required, so I altered the start menu Repair shortcut to locate the updater and run a Repair. Updater now works as it should. As a bonus, I found that the single thread exe that I've had to use, works better on my old system. Thanks for your help. ..
  23. I use to have trouble trying to shake off the jitters and a massive hang over next day after a good session, but it was worth it. I was an avid follower of the war and still have all the magazines depicting the action. I find that the Harrier and today I checked the F-15, run the best at dirt level, with the F-15 running at 720 kts very smoothly low over the East Falklands. Maybe Razbam knows a thing. I'm only running one Bear for target practice, so it might deteriorate as I add assets. Adding 12 ships to an air attack force, caused a crash, which has stopped my updater working. Never mind, the game still works. (Solved). ..
