  1. I found that using "Classic Shell" to get the look and feel more palatable for me in Windows 8 has made all the difference. I boot straight to the desktop and have the start menu of my choice. (I have also become much more comfortable and familiar with the Metro screen and charms bar in a very short time. Both of which I disliked at first). Install from USB stick was fast and painless. Hardware drivers for all installed fine and without issue including. Intel Rapid storage drivers X-fi Xtreme Gamer PAX drivers. AMD Catalyst for 6970. All gaming hardware working fine (Installs fine after disable driver signature enforcement for install).... TrackIR 5 HOTAS Cougar HOTAS Cougar MFD's G-15 Keyboard G700 Gaming mouse. Ivibe TFS3 Force feedback seat. Gaming Software utilities working fine: TeamSpeak 3 VAC 3.11 Installing and testing Flight sims shortly. Although I will keep Windows 7 on my main SSD raid array for now, things are looking much better with Windows 8 then my previous experiences with earlier builds. If flight sims run better or smoother under Windows 8 it will not be long before it is my primary OS. Out
  2. Yes I guess I missed the date,. Wishful thinking. I am sure it won't be too long before it is back around on the cheap again. I can wait. :)
  3. Crap! Why still listed on the front page as a dollar? Too bad I missed it. Pity
  4. Price is actually $16.24. I see no dollar deal beyond the photo on the main page......I will pay a buck but not 16 of em. Epic fail! Out
  5. Laptops dont make good gaming rigs generally speaking. Several reported problems. http://www.google.com/search?q=Alienware+M18x&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=#hl=en&sugexp=les%3Beqrwrth&gs_nf=1&gs_mss=Alienware%20M18x%20pro&pq=alienware%20m18x&cp=20&gs_id=o&xhr=t&q=Alienware%20M18x%20problems&pf=p&rls=com.microsoft:en-us%3AIE-SearchBox&sclient=psy-ab&oq=Alienware+M18x+probl&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=bb1985a4b0dff75f&biw=1899&bih=1090
  6. It's a difference in name only but I stand corrected. I will try to remember that distinction in the future. It's just that I have been using the cards of both of these companies for a very long time. Corrected this in my previous post so it doesn't bug you. ;) Out
  7. The only cards I have ever had fail on me were Nvidia. I think it really doesn't matter AMD or Nvidia, video cards and or VRAM can just fail for any number of reasons including static discharge, overheating, borderline components etc. I always purchase good quality brand name Video cards with long warranties . For Nvidia cards EVGA really stands behind their cards with a good warranty. Not sure about AMD cards. I do own a Saphire but I think the warranty is only a year on these cards. Not sure if there is an AMD card manufacturere that offers longer ones or not. I like at least 3 yrs. Out
  8. Video card failure indeed. Out
  9. AFAIK this is not supported in Windows 7. There is a possible workaround posted but I am not sure if it applies...Look at the post labeled most helpful reply...... http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-sound/output-to-2-sound-cards-simultaneously/4e57dd01-a68c-4ffe-af3e-66d7f895584b If this is not to your liking then this sounds like a job for...... Ivibe.. "The TFS3 combines hardware and software to provide you with the most advanced tactile feedback rendering system in the world. We bring to life everything you would feel if the game or simulation you are interacting with was real. If you are flying, you will feel your aircraft rumbling down the runway, when your wheels leave the ground and you take to the air, G forces, engine thrust, stalls, the closing and latching of your canopy, and more. In short: The TFS3 brings your gaming experience to life!" www.ivibe.com The real deal. Out
  10. Ok I have checked out DCS world with native ivibe support (no lua export enabled) and all I can say is wow! I like it. The device is awesome in all of the AC modules I have tested (A10-C, KA-50, P-51). The Ivibe TFS3 has finally arrived for DCS fans. "To enable native vibes in DCS World you would edit the config.lua file, the same way as for the other titles. Just have the following line: intelliVIBE = true you don't want the lua export active so check that EnableExportScript = false In summary, the config.lua file should look like the following: EnableExportScript = false intelliVIBE = true That will enable support for all AC modules in DCS World." 11. Good fix thnx Mustang! Out
  12. Clearly stated in the first post that you tried different driver packages. Once you have installed the wrong drivers and software it is a bit more difficult to go back and fix it. Had you followed the guide at cubpilots Hangar here..http://cubpilotshangar.net/page105.html You would have got it right the first time. I would remove everything and follow the steps in the link above if I were you (there is a "Go Directly to Trouble Shooting" link on the page (top right) and it should help you set it right). Install under Win7 x64 has worked flawlessly for me personally 10-20 times on different machines with different Cougars, and for countless others as well. I would say it should work for you. Out
  13. Support from TM for problems with the WH has been pretty good from what I have read in these forums so far. Perhaps yours failed during their summer vacation? I would keep trying. Best of luck. Out
  14. Seriously? Asus is much better. Second only to the original base Intel design specification. Gigabyte is not even close. Out
  15. Yes it runs 3 displays AFAIK. I think better with 4GB..much better for multiple monitors. This will also be my next card moving from an ATI Radeon 6970 2GB. (3 x 1920x1200 displays). Out
  16. Nice Rig Cali. Congratulations. Enjoy it! Out
  17. If you happen to be a Mechwarrior exclusively, then maybe, otherwise umm nay. Out
  18. 10 Cards? 10? Really? Go for a desktop configuration unless you absolutely need a notebook as it will be better for gaming then a notebook for the same cost. Sandy is tried and true but I agree you should go for Ivy if you are looking for some forward compatibility that may mean much more later than it does right now. Best of luck and happy hunting. Out
  19. AFAIK at last check the CH hangar has as many user posted technical support issues in their forums as any other HOTAS manufacturer. UNTOUCHED? Yes if you ignore every and any problem any CH user has ever had........ :D:D:D Out
  20. A friend of mine has had similar issues with his CH Stick potentiometers. In all fairness it is quite old though. He has replaced them twice so far. Just like any other HOTAS CH are not bulletproof but still a decent quality older HOTAS. :joystick: Out
  21. Thats got to be it! Out
  22. Did you also activate the P-51 module? For me I did the following....... Step 1, Purchased P-51 Beta Module and DL and install DCSW and P-51. Step 2, Activate P-51 within DCSW. Step 3, Download and install A10-C beta Module for DCSW. Step 4, Fire up DCSW, choose A10-C Module.... Step 5, Activate A10-C module with the serial from A10-C WH. Result.... Can fly A10-C MP or SP under DCSW This worked for me. Not sure about any other install routines. Out
  23. Shut up and take my money now....please? :D Out
  24. Install the A10C beta module for DCSW as Garengarch says. Thats the ticket. Out
