  1. I’ll check, thanks for the reports!
  2. The symbology is telling you that you are flying too low. Look in the manual just above the picture you highlighted.
  3. No you are exactly right Holton, thanks for clarifying
  4. How is it bugged mbot?
  5. Yes firing within mimimum range doesn’t guarantee that you miss the target. The documentation doesn’t mention why there is a minimum range but one guess is because of safety from resulting explosion/debris. The second one shows that you are slightly outside of max launch distance which is 2500m below 2000m altitude. As long as the horizontal lines don’t stretch outside the small vertical line you are within max firing range. The missile might hit even though you are outside launch parameters depending on luck, target maneuvers etc.
  6. Yes what I meant they each showed the full wingspan from the center of the HUD which doubles the total wingspan.
  7. Can someone explain the RB 24/74 procedure Oh I see that the visual range markers was showing double the distance it should. Good catch! Im changing it so the radar is un-locked when setting T0 even this is not described in the documentation but I think it would lessen yours and maybe others confusion. I also looked into the DCS manual and see that there are missing information. Very briefly described there are two ranges that is considered: recommended firing range (visible before lock, 1000m for Rb24 and 1500m for Rb24J/74) and a dymaically calculated max range depending on altitude (this is displayed after radar lock). The symbols also changes ranging from 8 km to 4km depending on what range your have. There is also a minimum firing range, 900m for Rb24 and 500m for the rest. I'll have to notify JediTeo about the missing pieces in the manual.
  8. Yes as long as the Sidewinder seeker is caged you will always have to have it within the sights to have the high-pitch tone. If you uncage it it will be able to move more freely. The radar in Air-to-air mode is always fixed forward, never moves even though you have a lock and the target moves so you always have to keep the target on the dot for ranging to work.
  9. Can someone explain the RB 24/74 procedure Oh I see. I am not entirely sure what you are asking, but the different types of HUDs you see are (1) visually ranging the target and (2) radar ranging the target. The radar locking in Viggen is very simple, it just measures what is in front of you and it has a memory for a few seconds to keep the ranging information even though the radar lock would be momentarily lost. In your picture you are outside launch parameters and needs to close in to the target.
  10. Can someone explain the RB 24/74 procedure The distance line appears when you’ve locked a target: aim the sight on it and set T1 - currently TV
  11. You can check against this chart http://www.viggentools.se/assets/elint/elint.pdf The next patch of Viggen will include a small new wip feature where it will automatically generate flight plans (data cartridge) where you will search for the transmitter discovered in the ELINT-data. Like if you discovered a enemy radar station and want to precisely locate it. You’ll have the option to either plan with a standoff range or overfly the area.
  12. A new fix to sidewinders include T1 to lock instead of TV and setting safety switch to ARM wont re-cage the sidewinder.
  13. Thanks for the video pdmarsh! It explains the issue you are having very good. I believe I found the issue: do you have wind in your mission? Otherwise I can't replicated consistently what I see in your video. I've discovered an issue with bombing compensation because of wind (the time-of-flight of the bombs was incorrectly calculated) which would produce a very incorrrect bombing solution. Try the mission again without any wind or let me have the mission file. The fix could anyway hopefully be included in next patch of DCS, which would be wednesday I think.
  14. That was though to watch! Great documentary and the translation was good, didn’t spot any errors! Is it the same crew that made Svenska Hemligheter?
  15. I believe its been fixed a long time ago?
  16. A fix will be in next patch of DCS. I think OpenBeta will have an update on Wednesday.
  17. Yeah one thing I should mention that has change since the initial release of Viggen regarding this sight mode is that I’ve added the same shallow-mode as in the rockets and guns-sight. Before the sight would go hysteric in shallow dives.
  18. What are the details around these new data cartridges in the beta update? Ah I see what I did wrong. Thanks for the report surstromming. I'll just test it quickly to see if it works (forgot to divide the distance traveled with the time it took to travel to get the speed). Edit: fix works
  19. Are the targets placed in the mission editor or are they part of the civilian scenery objects?
  20. I've corrected the issue. The fix will probably be in the next open beta release. Thanks for the reports! The workaround in the meanwhile is to use ANF-mode instead of NAV mode.
  21. Precision Dive Bombing--Aim Cues Still Leaving HUD Yeah from what I remember dive-bombing worked OK when Viggen was initially released but something has since then changed. I’ve put a lot of effort into the bombing lately and eliminated potential issues. From what I can tell the code looks correct. I also have two or three test-missions set up that I verify against and the bombs do hit in those. But it could still be issues regardless. Could you guys maybe post a as short as possible replay where you experience issues with the bombing so maybe I can replicate it on my machine?
  22. Yes probably another effect of the wow-issue. We think there will be a fix included in the planned stable release on Wednesday.
  23. If you are referring to the altitude reference in the hud there is no way to preset this. It will always be set to 500 m after take-off. You can change the reference altitude in-flight by pressing reference button or engaging altitude hold autopilot. You can otoh read the planned altitude as set in the mission editor in the kneeboard. IRL the pre-planned altitude for Viggens during war-time operations was as low as the pilot dared to fly.
  24. Yes! I am going to either add it as something the mission creator can disable in ME or only use AI ‘discovered’ units, whichever seems to work best.
  25. Bk90 is terrain following in MP too
